@truthward Ignoring and dismissing the history of LGBT people and homosexuality in general creates feelings of isolation and loneliness amongst LGBT youth who are afraid to speak out about their own struggles and hard times because of their sexual orientation. Without publicly and openly talking about homosexuality and the issues around it, many people will remain ignorant of the true facts about homosexuality and LGBT youth will have nowhere to turn to.

I can tell you that as a gay person I want to be treated with dignity, respect and equality, no matter if others accept who I am. I honestly find it silly that anyone would think that implementing gay history into textbooks to children is absurd - LGBT people exist, and the majority of us know someone who is LGBT in our personal lives.

If I can suggest, you need to try and reach out to those who would sign on the ballot to repeal the Fair Education act. Show them what will be taught to the youngins. I can clearly imagine well intentioned religious people thinking of the teaching of "gay sex" in their schools. Or a 'how to be gay' curriculum. Once they see what will be taught, I think it will cause a greater amount of apathy in them than in the LGBT community.

To my knowledge there is no such such uproar against something that is objectively hurting society. I dont see such it with crime, I dont see it with racism and so on. And those things arent even comparable to homosexuality.
