  • dude your feelin it. i can hear you luvin it!!

  • Thanks for the comments everyone! Now that I know how to TRULY play the shuffle beat the way Mr. Porcaro did it, and that I have a better mic setup, I just might repost this.

  • I loved it!!!! i just loved it......

  • you go dude

  • Been a musician for 30 years and I must say that this is just so much fun to watch! You are great at what you do and you have fun doing it. That's what it's all about! I use to tell band members if it isn't fun then it's time to stop, because when you don't have that spark it will definately show in the performance. You have it my friend! Thanks for sharing it.

  • Watching this video gets me hyped up, but then I get sad because I'm stuck in my college apartment and can't go play my drums back at home lol

  • @drumhead89 Hey thanks. I know the feeling. Lived in an apartment for most of the 90's, and my drums were packed away. Are you in marching band? What college?

  • @Musicosm Yup, I'm in the band at Towson U, it's just north of Baltimore

  • Sweeeeeeeeeet job dude!

  • you don't look like boz scags...

  • Nice Job, man! Tight groove - Now if you were in Florida, we could jam on this!

  • "Superb" Dude...

  • There are so many useless things on youtube. I find it refreshing to find something nice and fun to watch.

  • Very Good U da Man...

  • Solid stuff here, man! Great groove, and your kit has nice tones! Keep it up!!~

  • This is excellent - makes me appreciate the original work so much more. Well done! That is a lot of work.

  • Hey Jimmy, There is a few drummers doin' this on theTube, one other older drummer is technically excellent ! However others should take a look at LIDO- Jeff Porcaro [ Live ] , and out of all these technically great drummers on the Tube , i recon' yours is the one i would go to see LIVE ! You do it how Jeff Porcaro would play it LIVE, Great Stuff Jimmy.

  • Great work. I love this song and you ROCK. Keep it up! Thanks for sharing this with us.

  • jammin dude!!! what a great song

  • Great stuff man !! Excellent job ! Keep it up !!!

  • ya man I can dig

  • Fantastic - !

  • you're playing it wrong, good effort though. Try playing the bass with a ghost note to the second snare note.

  • dude that kicked ass,,you nailed that to a T,,good job!!!!!

  • Hey man,, we are only two knuckleheads who dared to post this tune from the drummers seat!

    Love it! Good Job!

    Cheers!

  • Wow, the definition of the word "cool" is this guy.

    Fantastic, thanks for the vid.

  • Jimmy lad, just love your style mate. Your drumming is not bad neither. All the best .

  • Never a good idea to overplay on a Jeff Porcaro drum track. What made Jeff great wasn't always just what he played, it was also what he DIDN'T play.

  • Really Super 235 !

  • Fanstastic. A bit busy on some of the double bass moments, but jovial and in good fun. I'm impressed by the timing, which was excellent, and which is very difficult to do with a recording. Accurate, in terms of fills, which is impressive. One thing to note: the best drummers are those who can groove in time, and not necessarily those who can fill space with notes. You exemplify the former, my friend. Keep it up. This is good stuff.

  • DAMN! You are GOOD. Was this the most intense song you have drummed to?

  • Between 2:02 and 2:16 difficult section.

2:17-> Facial expression = Job "Well done!"

    NICE!

    You rock dude!

  • well done, son. well done. Jeff is smiling down on you.

  • I love it!! Take a bow, man!!

  • Great job once again! I love Jeff Porcaro's drumming on this album!

  • Great playing. And I love the goofy faces! LOL! It's nice to see some talent at creating a drum pocket instead of mindlessly bashign the shit out of the drums.

  • dude, i think im the only 18 yr old that knows this song... well atleast i have a good taste in music!

  • i'm 17 and i've known about this song since i was like 4 thanks to my dad..haha so i guess your not the only one.

  • damn it u beat me! well atleast we both have good taste in music!

  • hah.. im 19, i know since 17 when i started to hear this kind of music. look at my videos.

  • I fondly remember this song from '77 when working at Mars night shift. Watching you play so well has really made my day. Fantastic mate, well done and many many thanks

  • Have you worked on "Lowdown" yet? Would love to hear you do that!

  • Nice job man

    Ade UK

  • man, you do remind me of Jeff... You fuckin Rock...... You really need a band......

  • Sounds and looks great man! Excellent job!

My classic rock cover band just started doing this song and its great fun!

  • Fantastic job man! You make it look easy. Jeff would be proud!

  • "A" for drumming. You need a band who appreciates your good taste in music.

  • great song,good job Drumming :-)

  • Awesome enough for me to subscribe without even taking a look at your other videos. But don't worry, I'll take the time to watch them too ;)

  • hey!... and the drumming of lowdown?

    come on!!

  • Soon, my child...soon. *ohm*

  • btw... love the shirt... a friend of mine had that same shirt on the other day... lol

  • Alas, much to my chagrin, it is a rather popular article of clothing.

    But I got more!!! :D

  • Keep getting drawn back to this video. Jeff Porcaro would be proud of your cover of his work!

  • Wow. I wouldn't necessarily say that, but... Thanks! :) He's certainly someone to look up to, even today.

  • I like it,,, great job on the shuffle!!!!

  • Thanks! It was easier than I thought. It's certainly easier than "Rosanna"! heh

  • freakin' amazing

  • Aw, 'twern't nuthin'. :)

  • haha very cool... and very funny at the end.

    congratulations.

  • Thanks! It's hard to be different in a sea of "look at me drum to someone else's song" videos. :)

  • I just want to add one thing. For future listiners, close your eyes and concentrate all the way through the song. As an engineer this helps block out external distractions, as listiners; to see it done live is so cool, folks, this is the real deal here! This guy is good!

  • OK; check this out: there are 35 drums(parts)or fills in the first 1:20 alone! That is so cool to be able to hear (and play) that intracate, minute detail. I really like your American hero "retake" that is an exact emulation; and that song is deciveing; that are about 30 parts to remember in the first thirty seconds, then builds; there are so many changes in american hero; good song choice to show off your skill, profound talent, taste, and class. Thanks for the rare look into studio perfection.

  • You know. I have to comment AGAIN! This is fucking amazing! Eye welling talent! That is detail is so cool. This will never get old. Wow! to remember all those fills and hi hat ajustments are beyond some, but easy for you!!! This make be the coolest thing I have ever seen. Thanks. WOW! To pull that off is simply amazing talent. WOW

  • Superb drumming! Excellent!

  • Wow! You are welcome at my studio anytime!
