Kewl....thought I wouldn't like it....loved it!! Always wanted to play the drums...always playing them on everything but the "drums". really....love it.
Thanks for the comments everyone! Now that I know how to TRULY play the shuffle beat the way Mr. Porcaro did it, and that I have a better mic setup, I just might repost this.
Been a musician for 30 years and I must say that this is just so much fun to watch! You are great at what you do and you have fun doing it. That's what it's all about! I use to tell band members if it isn't fun then it's time to stop, because when you don't have that spark it will definately show in the performance. You have it my friend! Thanks for sharing it.
@drumhead89 Hey thanks. I know the feeling. Lived in an apartment for most of the 90's, and my drums were packed away. Are you in marching band? What college?
Hey Jimmy, There is a few drummers doin' this on theTube, one other older drummer is technically excellent ! However others should take a look at LIDO- Jeff Porcaro [ Live ] , and out of all these technically great drummers on the Tube , i recon' yours is the one i would go to see LIVE ! You do it how Jeff Porcaro would play it LIVE, Great Stuff Jimmy.
Fanstastic. A bit busy on some of the double bass moments, but jovial and in good fun. I'm impressed by the timing, which was excellent, and which is very difficult to do with a recording. Accurate, in terms of fills, which is impressive. One thing to note: the best drummers are those who can groove in time, and not necessarily those who can fill space with notes. You exemplify the former, my friend. Keep it up. This is good stuff.
Great playing. And I love the goofy faces! LOL! It's nice to see some talent at creating a drum pocket instead of mindlessly bashign the shit out of the drums.
I fondly remember this song from '77 when working at Mars night shift. Watching you play so well has really made my day. Fantastic mate, well done and many many thanks
I just want to add one thing. For future listiners, close your eyes and concentrate all the way through the song. As an engineer this helps block out external distractions, as listiners; to see it done live is so cool, folks, this is the real deal here! This guy is good!
OK; check this out: there are 35 drums(parts)or fills in the first 1:20 alone! That is so cool to be able to hear (and play) that intracate, minute detail. I really like your American hero "retake" that is an exact emulation; and that song is deciveing; that are about 30 parts to remember in the first thirty seconds, then builds; there are so many changes in american hero; good song choice to show off your skill, profound talent, taste, and class. Thanks for the rare look into studio perfection.
You know. I have to comment AGAIN! This is fucking amazing! Eye welling talent! That is detail is so cool. This will never get old. Wow! to remember all those fills and hi hat ajustments are beyond some, but easy for you!!! This make be the coolest thing I have ever seen. Thanks. WOW! To pull that off is simply amazing talent. WOW
Hey that was pretty good dude. Good timing. Thumbs up.

Thats the Lido shuffle......... You got the ghost notes on the Snare.
Good job......coming from a fellow Drummer.
Actually.......2:46 into the video........
dont forget the Flam on the snare, before you crash.
After the 4 count Triplet tom fill..........The 1 is a Snare Flam........
The 1& is the crash. ...2 is a Snare Flam....2& is Crash.
Other than that you are excellent.

Never a good idea to overplay on a Jeff Porcaro drum track. What made Jeff great wasn't always just what he played, it was also what he DIDN'T play.
