The orange tip is strictly for the sales of the airsoft guns. What you decide to do with it afterwards is entirely your choice. If you want to be extra cautious, I'd look into your local state laws (if you are in the US). It never hurts to make sure.

some brands like echo 1 and tokyo marui don't come with orange tips. you can also buy black flashiders so it's not illegal just not for little kid who wants to pretend to shoot the police.
The wood kit is worth it only if you plan on using it a lot. If it is something you will be using out in the field, going through dirt and crawling over rocks, etc... then yes, it is a lot more durable.
However, before worrying about the wood kit, I would first (in my opinion) worry about getting the TM, NOT the cyber gun. It's totally worth it in that regard, just my 2 cents.
Drum mags exist, but only for the spring firing version of the gun. If reloading is a problem, you might want to invest in the 450 round stick-mag that (I think) TM sells. One of the major companies has it, and my friend used it for this thompson.
However, your friend would probably find it useful to fire less. If you constantly spray rounds, you will run out very fast. Only shoot when you have a clean shot, or to provide cover fire.

I believe the Gatlin (sp?) gun was the 1st idea of full-auto if you want to call it that. Even though in today's world, a crank-opearated weapon is NOT considered to be full-auto.

I am not sure if it was used in early vietnam or not. It wouldn't surprise me if it was, however, you may have it confused w/ the M1 Garand and/or the 1918 BAR.
Both the M1 Garand and BAR were used in the early stages of Vietnam. The Thompson may have been, but I am not sure, never looked it up.
I believe it was used for a very brief period of time but was abandoned because they felt that the BAR was more effective. That was then replaced by the m14 and eventually the m16 a1 and other variants of stoner's rifle. The m16 was the main rifle but only in the later years. I believe most of the war was fought with with m14

It's based in the Philippines, and they have good pricing. The only downside is that while the conversion kits are not too expensive, their shipping is.
For example, the M1 conversion kit ran us around $320 (shipping included.) The shipping actually cost more than the kit itself. Lame, but worth it.
Got the same gun except on mine I put in a drum mag and a handle at the barrel. It goes up to 426 fps. Full metal. The meant to be wooden parts of the gun isn't real wood unlike yours. Good vid! Keep it up.

If you are looking for better quality, Marui wins it hands down. The only advantage of the cyber gun is that it's cheaper. However, you get what you pay for, and if you want the better gun, go w/ the TM. You can't go wrong.
Btw, the barrel issue you heard of is unknown to me, I've heard of no such problem.

We actually looked into it, and realized it was not illegal to remove the orange tip once you own the gun.
Not to mention, how will a cop ever know about it if you are responsible and keep it put, only to bring it out for airsoft events?

Yes, you are right. Most standard mags were 20 rounds, but some held up to 30.
Same with the 1918 BAR. 20 or 30 (at most) round mags.

While the M16 was used in Vietnam, you are incorrect to say it was used from the beginning of Vietnam.
Was the M16 the main rifle in Vietnam? By the end of the war, yes it was.
However, in the beginning, the BAR, M14, M1 Garand (some), and the M1 Thompson (rarely) were all used.
When the M16 first came out, the soldiers were calling it 'the Black Rifle' since it was so new to them.

Electric guns are still airsoft guns, so you are still seeing airsoft guns, even if they are electric.

Either one is fine.
The M14 has a longer inner barrel, so you will have more range.
The Thompson is a lot more compact, so tight quartered areas make it an awesome weapon to have... it's range isn't all that bad either.
Just make sure you stick to TM for either weapon. TM quality is beyond the cheaper versions of these guns.
Now, if you're like me, and you tote around that 1918 BAR, then you're lookin for trouble in tight areas haha...

1). The 425 is w .12g bb's, it rly shoots 360 w .2s. .12s and AEG's dont mix.
2). Tokyo Marui is WAAY better quality that cybergun, only half of the CG is metal, the rest is plastic.

Got the same gun except on mine I put in a drum mag and a handle at the barrel. It goes up to 426 fps. Full metal. The meant to be wooden parts of the gun isn't real wood unlike yours. Good vid! Keep it up.

what do you think is better the tokyo marui m1a1 thompson or the cybergun version? I'm thinking of the cybergun version because i heard the tokyo marui version has a barrel that breaks easily.

If you are looking for better quality, Marui wins it hands down. The only advantage of the cyber gun is that it's cheaper. However, you get what you pay for, and if you want the better gun, go w/ the TM. You can't go wrong.
Btw, the barrel issue you heard of is unknown to me, I've heard of no such problem.
