This was one wonderful era to be an Orioles fan. EVERY night there was a chance of seeing something that had never been seen before. Every game was an event. Other teams may have had good/great players, but we had Frank Freakin' Robinson, and Brooks, and Jim and Boog and Paul and Mark and Davey and Andy and Elrod and Dave and Mike and Earl. We considered ourselves the luckiest fans in the world.

Since the Yankoffs buy up all the great players now, we'll likely never see their sort again.

Weaver guided the O's to 4 pennants and just one world championship, in1970...they lost the world series in 69, 71 and 79, under Weaver's leadership...but 1983 was not Weaver's team, it was Altobelli's...just as 1966 wasn't Weaver's team, that team was Baur's...

Joe Altobelli...Manager of the 1983 World Series Champion Baltimore Orioles...Earl Weaver retired previous '82 season...it was EARL's team...but, Altobelli "managed" it.
