would be kind of awsome in my opinion to sync peoples awsome covers with the games kind of like how you would with the rifftrack downloads for movies but instead do it for videogames. cause im sure this would be easier then say waiting for the company to do a remake sigh
Most places have respawning enemies, you can sit there and just kill them without trying. Check out AVGN's reviews of the Terminator games to see how he did it.
Points don't matter ever since the 8-bit era left Atari behind.
The golden age of gaming: when games weren't too easy or had those patronizing and stupid tutorials, when games didn't use bullcrap to make it difficult, when the difficult was satisfying because you knew that every death was not the cause of some glitch or some exploit, but the cause of your own failure.
Until it can be proven otherwise, I'm gonna assume this is a tool-assisted speedrun. There really is no way that the player in the video could've known about or survived several moments that would guarantee a death. I'd prefer a 'real' video to something fooled around with, but w/e.
Or show that it was recorded on a real game & console.
2:39 Jesus Backflipping Christ. My emulator calls and I cannot refuse it. It may well be that Contra was the reason many of us find ourselves in possession of testicles.
This song is from Vomitron’s new release, “No NES For The Wicked”. Over an hour long, this album is filled to the brim with metalized interpretations of original Nintendo music. Go to their website at vomitron665 to find out more and to buy this landmark album in video game metal. The force behind Vomitron is none other than my power metal band ARMORY”s keyboardist!
One of my proudest 'geek' moments was playing Contra in a mall (they were showing off the Wii retro-gaming stuff) and holding the controller sideways and utterly dominating everything. No deaths, no mistakes, nada. Everyone was pretty much blown away and I felt like a celebrity. I did have people pick up the 2nd controller and keep failing horribly and wasting all their lives (and my spare ones) but the mere fact I didn't die and kept getting extra lives was pretty badass.
I'm gonna make a video response to this soon showing no-fail Contra played live, nonstop. No deaths, but won't guarantee that I won't get a few close calls every now and then :)
I'm tempted to take you up on your offer if you were at least 18, male or female or whatever. Less legal shenanigans that way. Perhaps if you had an older brother or sister who's into gaming?
I wouldn't mind a badass 'no powerups' run of Contra to show the rest of your generation how we did it back when I was half your age =D
I have yet to see a 2-player run doing that without deaths.
this is why I hate rap and those racist bastards that whine and whine about how white people hate the blacks and blah blah. Rap is no engaging is just for those mellow simple minded fucks. The games music not only made it bad ass to kick ass and chew bubble, but it also was a REAL adventure.
There's a way to cheat in stage 2 and 4 in single player mode, if you held down on the first player controller and shoot while hold up on the second player controller, the player would appear to be down on the floor but the gun will be shooting in the standing-up position. Anyone ever explored on that?
Ridiculous talent. This is by far the best NES cover band around. It's really too bad that all they have about themselves is a long neglected Myspace page...no website...nothing new... I really hope they get on the ball and get back to making great stuff like this again. Vomitron + Mega Man, Shadowgate, Faxanadu, etc would be :O !
Damn, he makes Contra 3 look harder, never played Contra 1 to make comparison though, anyway, he clearly has played this one a lot lol? (to know where everything pops up, I'm sure you've played it a number of times).
One time a few years ago I tried to see if I could beat this game (on emulator, but with no quicksaving) without dying a single time. I got all the way to where 7:26 is on this video and got killed by one of those facehugger-type jerkoffs. I was so pissed!
Try transplanting music from one game into a gameplay video of an entirely different game. For example, try putting Splatterhouse 2 music in a Half-Life 2 video.
my favorite parts are the 2nd level music at 2:32, the boss music at 3:37 (love that crazy riff at 3:58), and the waterfall stage after that at 4:12. Hell, the whole thing kicks ass.
