I've never seen a child lose the ability to recognize their mother after birth. My godchild knew both his mother and father after birth and would cry whenever one of them left.
And you are right about the abandonment issue with adoption. My mom said was hard to raise for nearly 2 years because I missed my birth mother so much. But now I look back and thank her for what she did because I now know the woman who raised me.
And yes me being adopted is one of the reasons i'm pro life.
Sentient: 1. having the power of perception by the senses; conscious.
2. characterized by sensation and consciousness.
I've seen unborn babies at as early as 12 weeks exhibit signs of being sentient. Sucking their thumbs, which proves consciousness. Fealing pain, which shows their ability to perceive pain.
Need I go on? Or would you like to claim a 2year old is not sentient?
See the word consciousness, really important, as would be awareness. So tell me if an infant takes a few weeks to recognize mama's face and voice why does it loose that ability since it had such in the womb. Come on get honest.
Your logic would lead all to believe that in the womb that recognition would prevent adoption due to an understanding of abandonment.
A personal analogy, abortion is similar in these ways, if you eat meat, then you are killing the animal, if you eat fruit, then you are ripping the fruit from it's mother, either a tree or vine. Would you consider this killing? Isn't it a violation as well to the piece of meat, fruit or vegetable eaten? This is the logic of the debate at hand. Which is generally used by pro lifers.
Now, if a person comes in and is influenced by a parent or a boyfriend to have an abortion, than that means this person is easily manipulated and persuaded, so telling her what you want her to do, just as the others, is still preying on an already confused individual who remains easily manipulated and persuaded. Keeping the victim a victim. Sugar coat it all you want, but I am old enough to see things for what they actually are.
See, that is what I mean, to determine independent choice, it cannot be accepted that someone outside of ourselves is determining that choice, for that right there is in the face pure and simple coercion, like it or not, this alone is is your admittance of it.
The Guttmacher Institute advances sexual and reproductive health through an interrelated program of social science research, policy analysis and public education designed to generate new ideas, encourage enlightened public debate, promote sound policy and program development and, ultimately, inform individual decision making.

Independent research has been done, this is from NY Times,The Guttmacher Institute as quote: "Induced abortion in the United States is now an extremely safe procedure; injuries and deaths from abortion are rare".
I know this is old. But deaths from abortion are at over 1 million a year in the U.S. alone. And yes the unborn are human beings as agreed upon by all Human Embryologists.
Look in any human embryology text book and they'll agree that a human being is created at the moment of fertilization.
For a start on Embryology google: When Do Human Beings Begin?
The funny thing is that no one has ever said that the embryo isn't human, viable it isn't. The embryo turns into a fetus which turns into an infant at birth. Once more the fetus is not viable, nor is it sentient.
Not true again we aren't speaking a few centuries, and religious dogma. The facts speak for themselves.
"The Bible is one of the best historical accounts of ancient human civilization. If it is not taken for its religious purpose, the Bible accurately describes the culture of the Hebrew people. From the beginning of the Hebrew nation, unborn life was seen to be just as precious as born life "
Abortion, in some form, has existed in the human race for millennia. Ancient tribes would sometimes be forced to move quickly, and pregnant women could slow the entire tribe down. Abuse of the woman's abdomen, and later abuse through excessive horseback riding, could cause the baby to be born prematurely. This baby was then either killed or left to die. Unfortunately, the mother also frequently died during the birthing.
From the NY Times: "human life begins when an embryo is created" is a religious conviction, not, as he claims, a "simple and uncontroversial biological fact."
"There are no compelling experimental data to decide the nebulous issue of when "human" life begins. Mr. Levin uses scientific terminology, but his assertions are scientifically meaningless."
In her writings, Susan B. Anthony occasionally mentioned abortion. Susan B. Anthony opposed abortion which at the time was an unsafe medical procedure for women, endangering their health and life. She blamed men, laws and the "double standard" for driving women to abortion because they had no other options. The year of course 1872, Quickening was a basic method of abortion.
Ah but, if her decision is over-turned by the 'talk' that likelihood it was her choice is right out the window, and it is force. Tell me are your tactics, incorporating, guilt and shame? Think carefully, and ponder this question, ask it to yourself before answering. Should un-comfortability be a feeling, after this thinking, then it is coercion.
Anti-abortion activists claim that medical abortion is unsafe for women, even though there is no evidence to support this claim. The real goal of those activists is to stop all types of legal abortion - a situation which would put the lives and health of women in danger.
So, historically, it was bigotry, that made abortions illegal, did research it, additionally, science fact? My research comes from doctors and scientists. So far, they disagree with what you refer to as fact, of 'killing'.
"At the time the Constitution was adopted, abortions before "quickening" were openly advertised and commonly performed."
"In the mid-to-late 1800s states began passing laws that made abortion illegal. The motivations for anti-abortion laws varied from state to state. One of the reasons included fears that the population would be dominated by the children of newly arriving immigrants, whose birth rates were higher than those of "native" Anglo-Saxon women."
Generally using capitals, is a sign of anger. I don't believe I am kind, I believe, that what was once viewed as evil, is now becoming a treatable ailment, or disease. Giving everyone a shot at living a life. That does mean however, those that are already in this life.
We know child abuse is awful, and should be sought to stop, absolutely, but in the post prior, this is why, diagnosing personality disorders is critical, in prevention. Say the Rapist, is an antisocial personality disorder, we have others, they are known as hero's, the only difference, is love in the environment, which they were not nurtured.
Actually although Rape (watch your anger here)is awful, I've been raped, and my belief, has come to be there should be more therapists to diagnose these personality disorders than prisons. The rapist is a sick; angry; and very sad person indeed?
That is a judgement, if this were indeed killing a baby, wouldn't it be illegal, and why did it have a short term of being illegal, that with the Comstock Law?
Here it is judgment, then shame then guilt for a none of your business action. Since you judge that is against a decision that a woman makes, the judgment (with no evidence) kill. Hypocrite. Mind your own business, or make someone's life better rather than this bullshit. (that's right the vulgar words) Hypocrite.
Amen to that. If you are prolife, DO SOMETHING! Come down to the abortion mills and meet the mothers in crisis, and then work to meet their needs. Many times the women just need to know there is someone who cares, and be directed toward available resources. Prayer & Action!

If you believe that, get those facts from others that stipulate this as an honest appraisal, of a woman's choice, not dogmatic will.

Really?? I've heard many a choice tard claim the unborn are nothing more than goo.
And as for viability. They need to have another look because abortion is technically legal all the way up to 1 minute before birth.
Abortions at 20 weeks are common, yet i've read stories of babies being born at a mere 20 weeks and living health lives.
