Springsteen's version (the original) is more 'jazzy' and has a bit more of a swing to it. Manfred Mann's version is pretty different; however, it is still very good. Personally I like Bruce's better. Just love that epic piano/organ bit at the beginning then the big man coming in with the sax and Bruce starting that first line! Bruce and E street are so fricken' amazing!!!

I see a lot of comments on here about Manfred Mann. Manfred Mann was a great band but there is no question that they were Springsteen's bitches. Blinded By the Light, Spirits in The Night, and For You were all covered from Bruce's first album. So those of you saying Mann did it first are WRONG. Springsteen is one of the best out there, Manfred Mann is good but is no where near as talented in my opinion... They would probably tell you the same thing

Wow, that's really substantial... What the masses say MUST obviously be true. Just because a lot of people think that the simplistic garbage he creates is good music doesn't indicate that actually is. Bruce Springsteen has no talent whatsoever, which is exactly why I stopped the video when he started singing. He is more famous, not more talented, and original songs usually get more views than covers anyway...

dont wanna run down bruce cos he is/was a spectacular writer but sometimes other bands take songs much further than the originals.Bob dylan for example,jimi hendrix did All along the watchtower and Gnr covered both Dylan and Paul Mccartney songs and made one helluva job

I'm just stating the fact that Bruce Springsteen wrote this fucking song. Look it up if you don't believe me. It's off of his debut album, from which Manfred Mann covered three songs. One being blinded by the light which is their biggest hit . MMEB owe most of their commercial success to Springsteen.

Actually, Manfred Man's Earth Band is completely different than Manfred Man

There wasn't a single member of the original band in the Earth Band reincarnation

They cashed in minimally on the original bands success and built their success on Bruces Three Songs

So Quin The Eskimo, The Runner, And Demolition Man were all by another band ... also Quin the eskimo was a cover of a bob dylan song / Also, Quinn the Eskimo and the Mighty Quinn are the same song smartypants
