  • as stated no such thing as a turbo 4spd auto like description states lol..no gm 4spd auto tranny is claled that and this 81 didnt come factory with it lol and a barn find is when a car is new and parked in a barn for a long period of time not a 80s firebird sitting in a wet shed for 8yrs lol

  • @bandit3271980 this car is far from stock

  • @bubub56 the tranny is a custom ordered tci 4 speed woth a trans brake valve body and set plantiaries

  • @bandit3271980 also the turbo is refering to the turbo charger on the engine not the transmition

  • @bandit3271980 retard

  • @bandit3271980 lol havent you ever heard of a 700r4 or a c11 there are even 6 speed auto trannys out there know your facts before you run you mouth

  • @bubub56 yeah idiot this clown is claming this 80 turbo formula has a turbo 4spd auto lmao! so think and look before you open your mouth!

  • The Pontiac 4.3 liter 265 V8 was a small bore 301. It was advertised at the time it was installed in production cars (1980-81) as a 4.4 liter engine presumably to differentiate itself from the small bore 262 4.3L Chev V8 (very closely related to the 305/350)of the same era. Some Firebirds had the Chev engine rather than the Poncho.

  • The 4.3 v8 was actually a real engine. Yes there current 4.3 is a v6', which is actually a 350-v8 with 2 cylinders chopped off. you can put chevy 350ci' 5.7l pistons and rods in a 4.3 v6.

Now the original 4.3 was-is a 265 v8 that was used in the first corvettes, and bel airs.

Now Im not to sure if they even made a 4.3-v8 in the 80's, I think its being confuses for the 4.9-301.

There are many diff' types of GM engine installed in trans ams, buick, olds', & pontiac all put engines in the T.A

  • @cobra96svt570 yup but the firebird formula was a special edition they only had pontiacs

  • @cobra96svt570 You can put 5.7 pistons and rods in a 4.3? Incorrect. 5.7 pistons and rods have different bore and stroke then 4.3 pistons and rods. The 5.7 pistons and rods would not even fit in the block, the piston would be to big for the cylinder.

  • @Monst3r177 - He is referencing the 4.3 V6 GM engine, being nothing but a 350 cu. in. (5.7 L) engine with the 'back 2' cylinders cut off...which is the way that GM marketed the 4.3L V6 in the mid-80's...

  • nice car very rare, a 400 or a 455 would be really nice in that car

  • @mitchelltom32 thanks i just recently droped a a built 400hp 72 pontiac 400 in it with a turbo 400 trans all thats left is some loose ends and the instalation of a turbo 400 tailshaft

  • Classic!

Glad to see you are going to restore!

    I had a 1981 Maroon Turbo Formula with T-Tops.

Formula's are much more rare than Trans-Ams, then you add the rarity of the Formula having a turbo...AWESOME!

I think that Pontiac only made around 1500 Turbo Formula's in each year (81 and 82).

  • @Gambit4u2 The made turbos from 80 to 81 not 82

  • @Gambit4u2 OOOPs

    I was wrong.

Thanks for letting me know @OldestManInCanada

Turbos only in 80 and 81.

This was the last of the second gen Firebird and Camaro.

82 was the next generation body style.

    :D

  • at the end it says big block powered beast, the 301 is a big block and the 400 isn't ironically

  • @OldestManInCanada actually the 1980- 1981 301 is the smallest v8 pontiac ever made it has heads much smaller than that of a 400 and the block timing cover waterpump and manafold are all smaller than that of a 400 and all pontiac v8 engines are tall deck blocks except for the 301 the head ports are also much smaller

  • @bubub56 i thought the 267 was the smallest v8

  • @bubub56 Actually....I had a 81' firebird espirit back in high school and it had a 4.3L V8. NO joke....It was Canadian born so I'm not sure if that was why or not but it had the v8 sound with basically no get up and go...haha...loved that car though!

  • @Jessegpgt yup they sure are great cars not realy sure what a 4.3 was but the 301 is a 4.9 must have been a bop car with a sbc

  • @bubub56 a 4.3 would be a 262.

  • I'm 14 and I just bought an 81 Turbo Trans am as my second car. Its got ttops and the bandit stickers. I love it way more than my 89 firebird

  • thats an awsome car man.. are you restoring it? you should post more vids of it if you still got it

  • @420GETURDONE420 yup i plan on restoring it and moding it by upgrading to a twin turbo pontiac 400 im planing on posting more vids soon its my second project next to building a pro street 69 c10

  • nice car but music's gay

  • @THOMAS81Z did have better music but thanks to all the record companies i had to do audio swap

  • I had that exact same car in 1985 after highschool, but mine had the factory T-tops. Even had the same Grand Prix Radial GT tires on it. Sold it in 1986 in southeast Michigan. Good luck with your build.

  • @nealnchris sounds like u had a great car i could never get rid of mine tho

  • If you ever think of selling this thing.. please let me know.

  • i had thots about it at first but the car just has to many memorys sorry

  • thats a nice car dude....

  • @wsmikey thanks man

  • This car should put restored to original specs.... this is an uber rare find....

  • @japslapr i had thoughts about it after tweaking the turbo to put out 3 times the stock amount of boost but i think im going to upgrade to a twin turbocharged 400
