  • Im pretty sure the Phils won the World Series last year.

  • phillies can eat a dick!!!!! if anyone from the philles is reading this ryan howard is under -paid if you cant appreciate him trade him to another team that will.dick munchers

  • hey if your reading this we are willing to pay him that why we did, there was not battle it was the media blowing a simple contract negotiation out of proportion so how bout this bro, you eat a fuckin dick, matter of fact go eat ur fat daddys dick you fucking piece of shit WORLD CHAMPS MOTHA FUCKA DONT HATE CUZ U AINT PUSSY

  • Hey "G," excellent commentary! Well done as usual. It's me Frank B, was with you & kids on Mentoring Awarness Day @ MLK. Hey, betcha didn't know, that's my son A YOUNG RYAN HOWARD in the Red & Blue Uni. He's rip'in the Cover off of baseball and he's only 11 yrs old now. Call me, I've got some things to run by you. Thanks Bro!

  • phiily is CHEAP!!

  • so is ur mom dawg

  • go fuck yourself email thug

  • im sorry that you are a flaming faggot its ok they like your kind in san fransico

  • Howard "really" hit over 60 homeruns that year. It was only the poor sportsmanship, particularly of the Marlins, to walk him, even with bases empty, that deprived him of that milestone. Anyway, Howard, just like others developed under the Philly system, have taken compensation compromises to keep the core together. With arbitration and the expected aggregate doubling of the salaries of those affected, the Phils are going to have to be frugal with their moves.

  • Babe Ruth lead in strikeouts and home runs every year.

  • Don't forget Dave Kingman and a younger Mike Schmidt. Kingman and Schmidt traded HR titles, but as Schmidt improved on his strikeout totals (and batting average), Kingman remained vulnerable to the K.

  • Love how he leads the lead in K's and in HRs every year..How is that possible? hes just a beast

  • Phillies fans , add me!

  • Ryan Howard is carrying the phils.

  • If the single season Hr record is gonna be broken anytime soon, Howard's the guy to do it. He's a classic slugger. This year he's batting . 250 but leading the majors in HR and RBI. Who cares about average when you drive in runs like that. The next contract he signs will be 20 M a year easy. He's the shit.

  • the owner has done this to the other teams he owned. the cleaned out the cupboard and left nothing for the fans or the city.

  • Ryan Howard is kinda like Reggie Jackson. It's all or nothing. Both are players worth 10 million dollars though.

  • ryan howard is the new adam dunn sure he hits hr but shit he set the single season record for strikeouts in a season in 2007 and hes doing it again this year

  • this is retarded

  • I hate GCobb... his website is fillled with horrible rumors that never happen.

  • Gary, your smoke detector needs batteries! (0:07)

  • holy shnikes! how could you have caught something like that?!?!?!?!

  • wow, you can't be more on point! this is very true.

  • G is right. I love the phillies but they are shooting themselves in the foot and wont win the world series if they keep screwing themselves

  • wow?! your kidding when you say that this chump ryan howard has "the most power in the league"-shrek215......You really can't say which slugger has the MOST power...but if you want name names...Pujols is way ahead of Ryan "over rated" Howard....This dude is a strikeout machine, He has no glove at first base whatsoever. I laugh everytime I see his commercials, this guy is over hyped, the phillies can win without him, 7 mil for what?...bum

  • 189 and 199 strikes in two straight seasons. He sucks and he is abysmal

  • fedroger, you didn't mention the part that he broke the strikeout record last year, orignally held by adam dunn, and is on pace to break his own strikeout record

  • ryan howard is not bad though, who cares if he is striking out in every game as long as he is doing what the phillies hired him for, HR and RBI. Also if he was my firstbaseman, life would be so much easier with such a big target.

  • Amazing--an ex-NFL player is trying to convince others about how much Howard should be paid. You've got to be kidding me.

As a Phillies fan myself, I agree with you, TheKidFromJerzy. He is the most over-rated player in baseball, and especially at first base.

Trade the guy for whatever decent starter they can get. Save the team 200 whiffs, and over a dozen errors.

  • You are a typical, whiny, clueless Philly fan. With fans like you, a player is either a bum or a hero. There is no gray area for people like you. How can a guy who is ROY one year, and then MVP the next year be a labled "overrated"? The Phils made the postseason for the first time since I was in high school and Howard was a big reason why. He has weaknesses, but his strengths propel the team. Fans like you give our city a bad reputation.

  • The only record he'll be chasing by the end of his career is most K's if he doesn't straighten that up.

  • HR's are overrated. Howard has put this team at a deficit in the standings once again this April with his shoddy fielding and sub-mendoza avg (.197).

And K's? He set a new league record for strikeouts, the worst way to kill production from an offense.

His play in the field is often crucial to PHils losses although it has improved a bit this year. His arm may be the worst in the entire league.

Maybe we should take up a collection for Howard; he has to scrape by on 10$million this year.

  • ryan howard has the most power in the league he would of had more than a rod he was injured a month and still had 47 hrs and a rod had like 54

  • ryan howard has the most power in the league he would of had more than a rod he was injured a month and still had 47 hrs and a rod had like 54

  • haaaaaa cant wait til 09 and he aint a phillie n e more cuz they dont know how to spend any money!!!

  • couldn't have said it better myself... How you gonna pay Adam Eaton 8 million but give Ryan Howard 7??????WTF

  • Neither Eaton or Howard are worth their $ they're being paid.

Both of them are highly over-rated.

  • i agree with you, both eaton, and espically howard are over rated. phils should pay howard, for what, batting below 240 and on pace to break his own strikeout record, OVERRATED

howard is the next richie sexson

  • Dead on "G"

Pat Gillick and Reuben Amaro Jr. are idiots. Pay Freddy Garcia 10 million for one win, and not pay one of the best players in the league??? YOU SUCK GILLICK!!! Hope the arbitrator gives Ryan Howard an extra 2 million - for 12 million total -for pain and suffering!

  • Well, you're half-right. Howard is causing the Phillies pain and suffering. $10 million for a guy who is on pace to again, surpass the 200K mark ( Howard set the MLB record last year with 199 ), and his abysmal batting average, and with runners in scoring position. The Phils are still contending, which goes to show, they don't need him.

  • Obviously, you have no sports knowledge. I've seen Howard hit game winning home runs in late inning situations many times. As for contending "without him", the Phils were doing well with Rollins on the DL. Should they trade him too? Stop hatin'.
