very well said castertown...the b16b is a true high performance motor in itself...all it needs is headers, and a good CAI. And if you don't mind shifting alot, go for a 4.9 fianl drive, stiffer clutch, and short shifter! Also i love how this Guy in the video doesn't REDLINE it ALL THE WAY like all these other tools on the road! hittin those gears in there sweet spot!
Its not all about power. Putting a turbo on a real b16b would be a sacrilege to such a magnificently engineered NA motor. If you want turbo go turbo a b18 GS-R.
@CasterTown I used to have a b18 type r boosted I loved it that thing was fast and the type r tranny lsd was the best part seamless quick shifts not as much wheel spin on street tires I have a sohc turbo making similar power and with drag radials I get pretty much the same 2nd gear spin and just chirp 3rd and prepare for blast off lol, the type r was fun n/a probably more suited for my driving now since I don't drag race anymore mostly just time attack, mountain runs were great in it tho
hey man whats the 4.928 FD like at 60-70mph? what rpm she pull at that speed? i have an mb6 vti and want to upgrade the box.. at the moment im pulling 3300rpm at 60mph.. can you advise? thanks man :)
Wtf... Lmao kid. Gtfo with that shit. I'm not gonna believe some random youtube kid over what I've seen with my eyes. All these kids down here in florida drive is honda's. I've seen J swaps, K swaps, H swaps, F swaps, G23 Swaps, B swaps in about anything and a k20 hybrid Integra Type R. Stop contradictorily yourself by telling me don't check sites then sending them. I don't care what they own or anyone does for that matter "mate" lmfao....
acutally the b16b tranny with a 4.928 final drive would top that car out at around 137 give or take depending what he is reving till and what size tires he has.you can look it up on the teammfactory website. its a honda not a 10 speed bike we all want short gears on an all motor car. none of you know what your talking about ahaha go watch some more videos and think you know what your talkin about
90% of y'all arewronger than wrong but all I have to say is that there is no way in hell that car has a 4.928 final drive ratio. That car would be taching out at around 100 Mph. I know its in kph. I'm just relating for the ones who don't understand. The higer the number the lower the top speed and quicker take off.Lower number of final drive not as quick outta the hole but higer top speed.Just like on a 10 speed bike. Go look at the rear sprokets. Larger sprocket and ur pedaling fast w/lo-speed.
@vtecgogos longer gears are better for traction and boost... where did you get less rotating mass at? in order to do that you need to remove metal materials witch would make for a weaker gear/ final drive....
Lol they are good for boost - the less rotating mass is comes in that your rpms are lower in 5th gear then in a short 5th gear so there is less friction therefore less fuel used for that loss and low rpms = better mpg :)
@vtecgogos longer gears dont give better mpg bc of rotating mass. its bc it changes the rpms at any given speed in the same gear. therefore less rpms= less fuel
right lol less rpms=less fuel but the reason is because the parts arent moving as fast in the bearing journals and the pistons are moving slower and the flywheel etc. (less friction) - We are talking about the same stuff here lol
its not bc of friction. its bc of the gearing. simply bc the engine has a lower rpm not bc of friction dammit. explain to me why a tranny with taller gearing has less friction than one with shorter gearing.
If the rpms are lower, then the engine doesn't need to work as hard. Its like using a fan - it needs more power to spin faster - same with this motor.
thats not friction. the motor would need LESS power to spin a short geared tranny. the engine works hard bc of the load not rpm. i am done talking with you. you have everything mixed up. its like talking to a retard. and its not funny to say lol
lol here is a question - would you rather be cruising at 2,000 rpm or 9,000 rpm going 65mph? there you go! Lol I I own an S2000 and Integra with a ITR motor - and an associates degree in automotive from Penn State - I know my shit lol Check out my videos :)
@vtecgogos well if you knew your shit then you wouldnt have bought 2 hondas. associates degree means shit. so you know book stuff learn some hands on.
@xbartosx i've been around and working on cars since i was born man - my mom and dad both raced in SCCA solo and my dad worked his way up to race our racecar prelude at the SPEED world touring car championships - I've helped him rebuild the engines more than 1,000 times - so i have awesome expiriences :) And I have two cars because i need a 4 seater for if i need to move stuff or more than one person. btw - what expirience do you have?
well lets see neither my parents race scca solo but i do so i dont talk about things my mommy and daddy did. i talk about things i do. lets see i also own 2 cars. a worked sentra ser and a worked rx8. all but the body work and tranny work were done by me. i dont have a lift to pull a tranny it sucks doing it any other way.
@xbartosx lol im just saying i've been around cars since i was born. i have 3 car - two integras and one s2000 - i got the s2000 rolled and i replaced everything but the hood and replaced the engine and replaced the clutch in one integra and changed an engine in another. I boosted the white one and had a turbo prelude i put together myself. I tune my own tunes on hondata with a wideband o2. Check out some of my videos man :) proof is there - me racing the racecar in SCCA
@vtecgogos nice. i know those preludes get pretty nasty when you turbo them. ill definitely check out your vids. sorry to jump on you like that. i know a lot of people that think cause they went to school they know more then everyone. did you go to penn state main?
@xbartosx lol dude im sorry as well - its only an hour away and I've never been there - sad right? I have one video of my lude on 5lbs boost with our tune - it was very quick. The best expirience is hands on - you're right - i hate those people that just go to school and act as though they are the shit - a bunch of my classmates had their fingers up their a**es lol you ever been to penn state main?
@vtecgogos ,, first off, rebuilding an engine for your parents over 1000 times, "spoken from yourself you said" ,, means that your parents need to learn how to drive a car, instead of blowing them up 14 times a day, and prolly there blowing the motors up so easily, cuz ur rebuilding skills are shitt, like im just reading what your saying, and in short form your telling everyone that ur a moron
@PANT3N3 who the hell are you to say anything to me? i owned a honda dumb fuck. i also know that i hondas in autox all the time too. the only honda worth while is the s2000 and thats honda's top car now. i love how you commented on everyones comments on here. im sure you surfed wikipedia for all your information.
yeah that final drive is working for you. real nice. i have the Y21 tranny and it's pretty tight wound. would like a long final drive like that or the ITR. nice
i compared this to another video of a stock ek9 with similar shift speed, both starting at high revs, this car is just under a second quicker from 40-100kph (which is about 25-60mph)
not only do these foreigners want the USA to convert religion, money and language, they want us to believe that kmh is the same as MPH ... what a joke....
do u really shave much off ur quauter mile time with this mod. i have a almost standard ek9 an it will do it in about 14 an a half seconds with the stock final drive
mannn..u wasted the powerband those at 8500-9500 dudes....this is vtec...hi revving engines...u have to make use the power...pls take alook at ur dyno graph first...
@albani ,, lol , dude powerband? we arent talkin dirtbikes here, and no, see that redline at 8250 rpm? that means boom soon if you keep going into it, this guy knows how to drive his car to its limits without hurting it, u my friend, are a dumbass
lol the B16B engine to be exact makes 185 Horse power at 8200 RPM so by revving between 8500 - 9500 you will actually be LOOSING power. and would have a hard time as the rev limit is 8500. You cannot argue with physics, and people please understand that this is a JDM car and in the country of JAPAN which is where jdm cars are from they use KILOMETERS PER HOUR.. its rarer to find them with MPH. i just don't get why peeps watch a specific video then make silly comments. NICE CAR, i drive EG6 SiR
@Asifyoudidthat ur talking out ur ass kid... The b16b rev cut is 9200 stop spreading your stupidity.. Its funny how u say people post silly comments and here you are posting them
@Asifyoudidthat once again stop spreading your stupidity on youtube the rev cut is 9200 on a b16b and 8600 on a b16a. Don't even try me cause in actuality your the one who needs to start reading on hondas. And who cares that ur ass drives a piece of shit Eg.. Such a faggot people like you are what make people who like hondas look like idiots con grats.
@Jaran911 r u serious mate? where's ur sources? i own an ek japan b16b n the rev cut is not 9.2k.. its sumthing around 8.6k-8.7k rpm.. a b16b with 9.2k rev cut is a chipped one dont get confused.. i do own 1 n i did chipped my car to 9.5k rev cut..
@hafizi01 look up the base specs man. The stock rev cut is 9200 from what I've read on the motor. Im about to put that into a ek. Of course im not reving it that high but thats a beast motor.
@hafizi01 alright the rev cut is 9k and peak power is 8200. The redline is 8600. But rev/fuel cut off is set at 9000 stock. I know it wasn't 8600 thats what i was trying to tell the other guy
@Jaran911 yes, the power peak is 8.2k, redline is 8.6k.. but the revcut is not 9k, infact it's 8.6-8.7k.. i experienced this myself.. if it was only me, so i might b wrong since the metres n ecu might've broken.. but not less than 10 of my frens also swapped b16b/b18cr into their eg/ek..n they all experienced the same.. pls dun argue about this.. pls hav some search over the internet first then u will know.. it's not that hard if u dun really rely on internet source but experienced it urself..
@Asifyoudidthat u got sumthing correct but still on the other hand u do have something wrong with ur statement.. sure b16b only have a peak hp at 8.2k rpm.. n yes revving between 8.5-9k rpm is loosing power.. but the power lost is not always bad.. the reason we do high revving is bcoz we want better hp upon changing gears.. i myself sometimes do 300m race with my honda's friends n yes i rev up to 9.2k for better performance.. even b16a n b18cr revs it high..
@hafizi01 and please the last thing i am is confused when it comes to a honda motor. THese are the most basic shits ive seen in my life. I did a full swap Jdm h22a into my 93 accord and i was 18. Nothing is hard or complicating in any aspect when it comes to a honda.
@Jaran911 go to ek9.org for more info mate.. those guys are ek9's owner, just like me they shud know better.. to make u easier, this shud clear ur minds up regarding the revcut: ~~~~~~~ek9.org/forum/engine/205-b16b-safe-rpm-limit-6-print.html .. if u still dont believe it, build urself a civic with b16b type-R engine with stock ek9 pct obd2 ecu n try it for ur self..
looks like it helped but u've ratioed 2nd so it doesn't reach 60 why? i would have ratioed 1st and 2nd longer and then 3rd 4th and 5th shorter so u get more traction to 70mph then you can just gun it to 120 odd. i know a guy who had a sequential box made for his peogeot 106 gti. u may laugh but it has just under 200hp and does 0 - 60 in 4.7 seconds top speed ratioe'd 118 lol but it gets there so quickly and thats all u need really if u track ur car.
Nice pull. Seems like the shorter final drive really helped with acceleration. I bet that thing would fly with some more compression and a more aggresive cam

@albani ,, lol , dude powerband? we arent talkin dirtbikes here, and no, see that redline at 8250 rpm? that means boom soon if you keep going into it, this guy knows how to drive his car to its limits without hurting it, u my friend, are a dumbass
PANT3N3 1 year ago
lol the B16B engine to be exact makes 185 Horse power at 8200 RPM so by revving between 8500 - 9500 you will actually be LOOSING power. and would have a hard time as the rev limit is 8500.

Its funny how u say people post silly comments and here you are posting them
Jaran911 1 year ago
@Jaran911 for your benefit not mine just do a quick serach into google
Asifyoudidthat 1 year ago
@Asifyoudidthat once again stop spreading your stupidity on youtube the rev cut is 9200 on a b16b and 8600 on a b16a. Don't even try me cause in actuality your the one who needs to start reading on hondas. And who cares that ur ass drives a piece of shit Eg.. Such a faggot people like you are what make people who like hondas look like idiots con grats.

@Jaran911 r u serious mate? where's ur sources? i own an ek japan b16b n the rev cut is not 9.2k.. its sumthing around 8.6k-8.7k rpm.. a b16b with 9.2k rev cut is a chipped one dont get confused.. i do own 1 n i did chipped my car to 9.5k rev cut..
hafizi01 1 year ago
@hafizi01 look up the base specs man. The stock rev cut is 9200 from what I've read on the motor. Im about to put that into a ek. Of course im not reving it that high but thats a beast motor.
Jaran911 1 year ago
@hafizi01 alright the rev cut is 9k and peak power is 8200. The redline is 8600. But rev/fuel cut off is set at 9000 stock. I know it wasn't 8600 thats what i was trying to tell the other guy
Jaran911 1 year ago
@Jaran911 yes, the power peak is 8.2k, redline is 8.6k.. but the revcut is not 9k, infact it's 8.6-8.7k.. i experienced this myself.. if it was only me, so i might b wrong since the metres n ecu might've broken.. but not less than 10 of my frens also swapped b16b/b18cr into their eg/ek..n they all experienced the same.. pls dun argue about this.. pls hav some search over the internet first then u will know.. it's not that hard if u dun really rely on internet source but experienced it urself..
hafizi01 1 year ago

I bet that thing would fly with some more compression and a more aggresive cam
mercarian7 4 years ago
obviously km as its running a short ratio final drive for more acceleration looks like abouit 100 in 4th
