I was to her concert in copenhagen 2010! oh my... wish she would come back best concert i ever been to! But i would wish that i could have sit down, her music isn't something you listen to standing..
This is a wonderful song, as are most of her songs, but these comments about not talking while she is playing almost seems contrary to what Regina so eloquently conveys in her music. Be free have fun. No one is disrespecting or disrupting her performance and it seems no more distracting than all the people who just have to use their phones to capture video of the show and post it on youtube ;) If you get lost in her music you dont even hear the background noise. Dont let others bring you down.
The first day after I moved, I woke up at 11:11 from Regina's Songs. The Live In London is better than the Live At Bull Moose, because the Soviet Kitsch is Far away. So I could finally Begin To Hope that What We Saw From The Cheap Seats was just an illusion...
DEAR LORD BACKGROUND AUDIENCE! If she starts to sing louder doesn't mean for you to get louder! She has a beautiful voice and yet they are probably talking about what they had for dinner or their plans tomorrow, or the cutest thing their cat did that morning... Anyways I love her and her music!
Contrary to what everyone above seems to believe, I think the chatting, and occasional chuckle really adds to the recording. It gives a very human and social approach to music, rather than the clean-cut beats we're so used to now.
@anniethesponge I know it's a month late but just thought I'd give you hope - I'm in Ireland and I have seen her (at Oxegen in 2009), so she does come here occasionally. I'm hoping she'll do a tour of Europe when she releases her album next year, I believe around the time she released Begin to Hope she played Vicar Street in Dublin.
@Lukas9314 She has performed in South America, so you do have a shot at seeing her (you're just gonna have to travel to the mainland when she does come).
@goofysmartypants God I know! I've never had the chance to see her where I live, I wouldn't waste a second or be so disrespectful if I possibly could! Grrr.. lol.
@goofysmartypants Check out the eight (8) recordings I took of songs she performed for a benefit at the MoMA last May in NYC. Just click on my YouTube link and check the uploads. Disrespektful people were talking in the rear of the room at the museum the whole time. But despite that, she still gave a great performance. I wouldn't have missed it for the world.
Some of the crowd at the charity event at the MoMA this March was the same way...they talked the entire time (visit my page for all the songs I recorded that night). Not everyone was there to see her perform, and it was quite evident. But that does not excuse outright rudeness. She politely asked them to keep it down (not necessarily in those words) several times, but to no avail. And she was not drunk. I'm sure deep down she was hurt, but she went on with the show for those who love her music.
@IAintOverYet I WANTED TO GO TO THAT SO BADLY. It was on my birthday, in my favourite city. Unfortunately, it would be too expensive to get me there . . .
It's pretty upsetting that some of the people who were there weren't appreciative of such talent. Regina is just. So. Wonderful. Why can't everyone see that?
Don't kill me, but I don't mind the talking as much (though, yes, I'd like it better if they had some respect and shut up). It kind of seems to represent a fiercer commentary on Regina's enormous gift (and the message of the song), and how people can just hurry on, never bothering to stop and listen.
Kind of reminds of the scenario and the people in "Blue Lips."
jesus christ, how rude of those people to be talking. it's like no one is paying attention to her and it's just mindblowing to me. there are plenty of others that would love to have a seat there and would actually sit and appreciate watching an absolutely amazing performance. seriously, couldn't they just shut the fuck up for five minutes or at least make somewhat of an effort to keep their voices down while someone is pouring their heart out on stage? unappreciative fucks.
This is a beautiful song & the audience does seem somewhat disrespectful of her. I've heard that Joni Mitchell has just walked off if the audience is too busy having a chat at the bar or chatting someone up to listen to her play, but I guess she is already such a legend she can get away with it. But I think it is ill mannered to talk when the artist is playing. If u wanna do that go outside.
@zonalGman92 Actually, I just heard saw a performance of her where the audience was being loud, and I think she was a bit drunk because she just stopped and said in her cute little voice, "hey will you shut up?" It made my day.
