• that dude is DRRRTY 2:28

  • Loading a cement mixer all day..? Totally fullfills the sentiment of a thank less toil with the added relevance of building houses for others! I know the feeling... Bleeding knuckles from catching the wheel barrow edge, covered head to toe in muck and getting shouted at for more jollop ("..and not that hard stuff like last time!"). Great vid!

I love this video. The song is great and I found Sufjan through Driving Lessons since we seem to be talking about that. xD

  • Als heard it on Weeds......just had to hear the whole thing

  • nice song...heard it during the credit of weeds...had to find it

  • weeds has introduced me to some sweet music

  • Me too. That was a powerful ending.

  • Great film to accompany the song.

We do not toil in vain when we work for the Lord, but we wait for the Day when ..'they will build houses and dwell in them; they will plant vineyards and eat their fruit. No longer will they build houses and others live in them, or plant and others eat.'

  • The book of Isaiah is FULL of promises! Read it, then read it again.

    Isaiah 65:17-25

..'They will not toil in vain...'

This guy is waiting for the day of the Lord.

Anyone unfamiliar with the Bible, God, Jesus Christ and Holy Spirit, try focussing on Isaiah 9, Isaiah 11 and Isaiah 53, in line with the Gospels.

Advent is a time of waiting and expectation. Why we are waiting is because the Lord comes to judge the Earth and to redeem His people into eternal life.

  • my favorite shot is the taking out the dishes... screams wes anderson :) i love it.

  • okay... i thought there would be some sort of twist at the end.. as most short films do, but i completely missed the point of that.

so a dirty guy has a shower and drinks lots of cold water? is it meant to be symbolic?

  • ISAIAH 55

that's the chapter the title came from.

  • this has been number 1 on my favorite songs list for about 2 years now, too.

it's beautiful, and i absolutely love the spiritual background behind it.

check out the indie movie Driving Lessons. it features this song.

  • I'm confused

  • this has been my favorite song of all time for about two years now. sufjan stevens is incredible.

  • I loved it! :)

  • This is one of those songs that make you go into some trance

You've reached the field and there Sufjan Stevens is, singing his song to you.

  • technically when you would've been wearing the orange safety jacket thingy only part of your white shirt would've been mudied.

Oh I can't believe I'm going to post this whiny comment.

    I like the vid ;)

  • Sufjan is a very devout Christian.

Also. Did you go roll in mud in preparation for this video? 'Cause I'm totally jealous that you got to do that.

  • beautiful. it made me weep.

  • Super sweet songs, I heard it on Weeds and haven't stopped listening to it yet....Anyone have any idea what the video is supposed to mean?

  • Yes, I believe he is a Christian. Have you heard his version of Come Thou Fount? It's amazing.

  • amazing artist, and alot of people are unaware of him.

i wonder if hes a christian, he does make alot of relations to it

    does anyone know?

You will go out with joy and be led out in peace. The mountains and the hills will break into songs of joy in your presence, and all the trees will clap their hands. Isaiah 55;12

  • I dig it.

  • OMG I LOVE SUFJAN STEVENS!!

  • Good job!!!!

  • Beautiful song, and nice video too.

  • this is seriously an amazing song..

  • Beautiful shots, man.

  • rofl

  • I liked it.

  • Did he water-poison himself or was it more of a cleansing thing?

  • Just to go outside the Driving Lessons box here, this song ws in an episode of Weeds

    That's where I found it.

  • I loved the video.

    Forgot to add that.

  • wow gorgeous man

    and a great movie

    love the song

  • Driving lessons :P yay

  • I heard this on driving lessons too... I scribbled down the lyrics and then spent half an hour looking for it....

  • "There may not be time for all of them, but make sure you play the last one."

It just makes the book seem even more real...

    Pretty music :P

  • omg i know that was so sad

i like bawled my eyes out :(

  • Oh that book was beautiful and very emotional.. i looked for this song because of the book.

  • I read the book too . God, this song almost makes me cry when I think about it. It fits perfectly with the book.

Can't stop hearing it - so beautiful music.

  • I found it through a remake of "For the Widows," which lead me everywhere.

  • Did anyone find this video because Sufjan is God?

  • maybe......

  • i did. i love sufjan stevens

  • and ive never seen Driving Lesson.

  • I found this song after reading Before I Die - by Jenny Downham. Such a sad book. D8 This song is bittersweet as well, but kind of addicting. 8D

  • I lurved it. Yes, that is the way I spell "love"

  • Like in Annie Hall.

  • not to sound redundant, but i also searched this song after watching Driving Lssons :)

  • me too. lol. i love this song.. but its strange. im always listening to death metal and thrash and stuff like that. but i found this.. and i cant stop listening to it

  • exactly the same thing with me :)

  • This was an absolutely fantastic video!!! Good song choice as well!!

  • i think he drank too much water. your liver can only take abot 9oz of water per 30 minutes so maybe he was about to die

  • lol

  • I read something about that once. Some chick died from drinking too much water and being unable to use the bathroom.

  • I heard this song in Driving Lessons so I had to listen to it. Great video!

  • exactly the same reason I searched it. Great movie.

  • True really great film. Me and my dad both think that Rupert has got great acting potential. Also the scene in this movie with this song was really nice.

  • That's why I looked it up as well!!! I love Sufjan Stevens, and the movie Driving Lessons!! Rupert and Julie Walters did an amazing job!!

  • okay we all agree that rupert is a great actor, julie is a great actress, driving lessons is a great movie, and sufjan Stevens is a great musician.

  • same reason why i searched for this song!

  • I'm pretty sure he's just a guy, coming home from a hard day of work. Puts the shoes in a bag to contain the dirt/smell. And as for the glasses of water, he puts his shower on really fucking hot, and cools down by drinking them. Hot showers are really relaxing, and drinking in the shower is a really nice feeling. And he breaks down, he has his problems, as we all do in life. Great vid.

  • i think he murdered somebody and the dirt was from digging the person's grave

    JUST MY OPINION DWAGS

  • Lol d: No offense, but a little weird opinion. But it could be real though .

  • Maybe he drinks the water to try and make himself clean on the inside...but he can't.

  • I feel the exact same way about that, awesome vid

  • I love this song! It was in Driving Lessonsss;]

  • lol! I looked for this song after I watched the movie.

  • i found this really cool!

  • Great video. AMAZING song. :)

  • well the reason he drank all those cups of water is because obviously he really poor and cant afford water. opened his dishwasher and nothing but cups...and he looks like a plumber who can't eat food because he cleans up sewer and shit all day...I don't think I would want to eat food either....take care Great video. I really wanna see this guy in concert soon.

  • um...okay..not sure, but..did he die in the end? cus he drank all that water and like...you know..you're not supposed to drink too much water cus you can die..>.< blah, that's what I got from it.

  • I really liked this.

  • Nice bod. He reminds me of Leonidas in 300.

  • very nice

  • That was pretty good. The strength lies in the variety of shots and angles. (The camera from inside the freezer as he closed the door.)

Just one comment, the shot when he is in the shower and you're looking at the back of his head looks a little ominous.

Overall, well done. :-) (I have a BA in Film/TV Production) I know how much work this stuff is.

  • Hey man! good job, its actually pretty good. but I have a question, i did not get the idea of why did he drink all those glasses of water?

  • Great job!

  • Thank you.
