@ilovetheetangs You need ATLEAST a 85 gallon tank for a 4 of them, thats if you do heavy filtering and 15-20% water changes about ever week and a half. 1 oscar needs 55 gallons to him self with normal filtering and regular time water changes. Keep just 1 in 20 gallons it will stunt its growth.

@RATking0134 Get a 55 gallon cage or larger, they grow fast! I have had mine for 1 month and one has grown 1 inch and the other one has grown nearly 2 inches in one month! No joke. I am planning on building a 150 gallon tank but its looking like I am ganna be cutting it close to having it done when they need it lol.

@catsaretimtams 70 gallon is fine for an oscar. you only need 50 gallons for one oscar, though in a 70 gallon tank you could have 2 oscars

@SailingMoominmama no you cant have 2 oscars in a 70 gallon. 100 gallons atleast for 2 oscars alone. the bio waste they put out will kill them if they arent in atleast a 100 gallon tank. petco and petsmart say they can be kept in a 40 gallon tank but then again they also say max size is only 10 inches. Ive personaly seen oscars over 16 inches.

nice fish! really pretty colors I have 2 and they are very special to me the first is a survivor from walmart I didnt think he would make it but he lived his first month in my little 10gallon he was so tiny while I was treating him for ick the second came from my LFS and was about double the size so I named the first one lucky and the second one Halloween cause we got him on halloween they are best of buds and I think maybe male and female but we will have to wait and see

@wBundlesofJoyw Nope, you can fed thee guys a wide range of foods from pellets to insects. Just make sure your food choices are safe and free from pesticides. Stane is a great example of how rewarding Oscar ownership can be.

Try once a week to give your oscar either vegetables, fruits, insects (such as blood worms, mealworms, crickets) basically any type of fish, squid, clam or shrimp will help ensure your oscar gets the nutrients he needs that may not be in the pellets. Pellets will make the most part of his diet.

@MrAtownkid A 100 gallon would be fine however i would recommend a 125. Once Oscars reach full sexual maturity they become aggressive (depending whether they are male or female, and it's very hard ot find the sex of them)

from my experience oscars are among the toughest fish cuz they'll outlive almost anyfish you put in your tank w/them. one thing i notice about oscars is that they'll toss around and mess up any movable object you put in the tank as a setup. i learned the hard way and gave up putting in things that these grumpy fish will mess up. for food feed a combo of pellets and live insects/worms. try to avoid fish cuz sometimes the fish'll be sick and make your oscar sick.

@THATONEITALIANGIRL don't put african cichlids w/oscars cuz they require different water maintenece and eventually the african c's will die off. get an algae eater fish and an african or south american catfish. your two oscars will get big quick and start to fight each other within a yr but it's usually harmless since they'll grow up together. minimum tank size for the fish above is 55 gallon no less but you'll eventually have to get rid of one of your oscars once they get too big.

i used to have an oscar just like this one plus another albino one, the were both about 12inches long when i regrettably sold them, i also had a 8inch yabby and a 16inch catfish. all these fish were in a 5ft tank. i had to sell all of them because we nowhere to put them while we moved home : ( but i plan on getting some more and i might put a video of them on youtube : ) ohh btw your Stane is a very nice healthy-looking fish : )
