@MargaritasAntesPorco Yeah.. .well, the US has a long tradition of only really taking sports that it feels like it owns seriously - and frankly, as a cricket and rugby fan, I'm glad that the Americans let the rest of the world enjoy those sports. If the Americans took to cricket, rugby and football like they do basketball, American Football and ice hockey, there really wouldn't be much for countries like NZ and Sri Lanka left to enjoy
You think doing 192 lines of subbing is hard? Just think about all those guys who the fansubs for all those Japanese and Korean TV shows and movies, and don't get paid a penny! Their passion for what they do make it possible for me to watch lots of fantastic Japanese and Korean series! :-D
@SirReptitious Hey, I have endless respect for fan subbers, or people who subtitle anything like that. I'm not saying it's hard by the way (I'm subbing my own words... I'm not stuck for any meanings). It's just time consuming and adds a lot to the production process, so I try to make it easy on myself by cutting vids down to 5 minutes and about 100 lines (which takes about 20-30 minutes to sub). Huge respect for dedicated subtitlers, no mistake there :)
Good ep. guys! Screw snow for Xmas! I'm with Hiko... it's about the sun, BBQ, and skinny dipping (huh?) Although, I don't get any of that where I am =)
@nobatadared Ren is a member, although there will be others - we just have had some trouble with recording so I wanted to kick things off just to say happy new year with Victor, and we will get back into it with Ren back in the next episode in a week or two
I'm Australian and live in QLD, but unfortunately my family live in a real ghetto-ish part which is Logan. So instead of being near the sea and in my nice apartment, I have to squish in with 17 of my family members in Logan, listening to the ambulances and police cars go by every hour. ^^ The food was good though, potato salad and bean salad because we're European, and ham, sausages, rissoles, salad and later on cheesecake and pavlova!
@Kirarachu Ha, Logan isn't so bad - good access to the Coast and Trains, land values going up ;) My Stepfather is Hungarian so we used to get all that stuff as well - potato salad, and the cakes... oohh the cakes... But of course can't have Xmas without pav!
@Hikosaemon I like that Logan is so multicultural, but at the same time it is always in the news for robbery, stabbings and so on. It is close to Brisbane and both Coasts too. My Grandma is German and Grandpa is Polish, so we all celebrate together on the 24th of December. I like having those kind of celebrations and traditions even more now I'm an adult and the family is expanding. And everyone's family has their own potato salad, and we insist that ours is the best. :P
@falconfira 3 days!? How could you get a properly fulfilling game done in just 3 days?! Test cricket is a FIVE day game, which often ends up in draws.
Osechi is great! We had nori rolls with beef and even some natto-maki, which were awesome. Maybe osechi wasn't that great if you got to eat it every day, but like this it's really tasty :D
@perdomot Ren will be back. As I mentioned in the vid, we have had some technical issues with the recording software that are being worked out, so we are regrouping a bit and will get her back for the next episode. We're doing some testing and hope to have everything worked out to get back into the series with everyone in starting in about 2 weeks.
@TubaBuddha My understanding is that rounders and cricket were kind of the same back in the day - not sure but I think Cricket just followed a different evolutionary path from rounders. But fair point
AHH I understood that your hat was 200 yen Woot woot go me. lol though numbers aren't really hard to understand LMAO Now that I think about it 200 isn't a whole lot wow that is such a Kawaii hat for 200 yen
@Gimmeaflakeman *sighs* well I thought I was right. Darn still more practicing it is so hard to practice in the state. I wish I had the chance to go there myself and drown myself in the culture and language. I love watching your vlogs in Japanese though sometimes I can pick terms and phrases that I know from them and that is always good to show that I am indeed improving. Thanks for the videos I love all of them.
@ddant92 Please don't use kawaii(or any romanised Japanese words, for that matter) in English; it makes you look like a fool. I'm not telling you this to berate you at all, just letting you know.
@Muso992 Well if I knew Hirigana and Katatkana better then I do*and I am practicing* I would be more happy to wright it in either instead of Romaji, Forgive me for being a newb.
@ddant92 Dude, like I said, I had not intention of berating or making fun of you. I really don't. Just trying to save you some embarrassment. It's like if you saw your friend wearing a shirt with a pattern on it that has an uncanny resemblance to a penis. Everyone's laughing at him and his penis shirt behind his back, but he hasn't the slightest inkling and keeps wearing it. It's more painless for me to tell him early on then have him find out later after he's been wearing the shirt for a year.
Actually living here in Japan, we mix words into the language all the time. Like, "Go to junbi". "Take out the gomi." Or "She is kawaii!" It's quite normal. And people who speak Spanish do the same thing. I tend to disagree with Muso that it makes you look like a fool, but opinions are opinions. And remember I'm wearing a stupid "boshi" on my "cabeza", so what do I know.
@Gimmeaflakeman I do the same thing. Only around people who speak Japanese, though. I personally don't care in the slightest whether people go around injecting Japanese into their English, but the overwhelming majority of uni-lingual English speakers who I've heard mention the issue are saying how weeaboo-ish and immature it makes people sound. They say that they appear to be trying to create an "I know Japanese" image with no desire to actually learn the language, or something like that.
@Muso992 No I understand as cold as it sounded I understand where your coming from. I meant nothing by what I said. Thank you though for caring enough to tell me ahead of time. It was a newb mistake, though.

Hikosaemon 1 month ago
midoringo0108 1 month ago

@Muso992
