Buy the S1. It's way easier to mix with two chanels instead of four. Also, the S1 looks a lot more like what you might encounter in a club. The lay out of the decks is exactly the same as a CDJ 2000 or 1000 regarding the hot cues. The slip mode is found on the CDJ 900 and the Start/Stop vynil adjust is found on the 800 to the 2000. the S1 is a a lot cleaner than the T1, in my oppinion..

@Philliegirl1 they are both units designed to work with specific software so it depends on what you are attempting to do and how your style works. And you will need a computer to run the software for either one so you will need a laptop unless you only intend to use it at home and want to dedicate a desktop to it

Debating between this and the S4, problem is I do large gigs ever 3-4 weeks and I know the Pioneers don't have booth outs but I like the pioneer layout much more then the S4 or the Xone Dx.....just wondering what you guys would recommend and what you think.

@davidRios622 go with the T1 since it uses traktor and not serato ( which is far more for Dj at least that one is what kaiserdisco and other great djs.... ) the T1 is a 4 channel and the S1 a two channel... plus the fx are better on the T1... if the are selling you the T1 cheaper buy 2... and re sell! that would be the smart thing to do!

Very hard decision, but in Mexico the T1 cost around 1600 $US + 16% of tax, in the other hand the S1 cost 2000$US + 16% of tax, if both are capable to do the same thing, I´ll go with the T1., .. what you think?

Ok..... here's what i got here in Vancouver .. It's not really hot commodity .. My buddy went to L n M and he was thoroughly disappointed because get it's made of "plastic" .. The knobs were very delicate and you need good protection from coffin or roadcase because some big guys like me could break it ... He's played on Cdj's and djm400, but the ddj did not feel the same ... it is personal preference, but he would not recommend it. He asked how well it's selling and said... theres no buyers.

As far as Pioneer is concern... they should it came with this idea a long time ago instead of waiting till' now. And the price that their asking? Too much when you have more options that is cheap. For a lower price, I'll go with the upgraded version of the VCI 300 MKII (w/ Itch) & also the VFX-1 for effects. And for Traktor I'll go with the Native Instruments Traktor S4 (which plays 4 decks). I’d go with Pioneer; but when you take into consideration the other options, they miserably fail.

This controller seems pretty nice, but why would you want to have the screen right on front of your face? It blocks big part of your view. People should use computer screens that are facing up when DJing. Thats how all of the other DJ gear is anyway, facing up.

Back in the day DJs didn't have their crates right on front of their faces either, did they?

@mahra316 I think the S1 is more expensive because the mixer is a real mixer and not just a midi controller. So in T1, the software acts as the mixer which you control with the T1 hardware, meaning that without the software, the T1 mixer is useless. The S1 has a real mixer that doesn't control the software, it is built more like a traditional mixer like the DJM-400 for example. So theoretically you could connect 2 turntables and use the S1 mixer, but I didn't see any inputs for that.

i have serato, i have traktor s4, but if i buy one of these it would be the traktor just because you have four channels available to use. Plus i heard itch is shit in the numark digital turntables

@mart182003 I've been using Itch with NS7, have had no problems. Stability is 100% rock solid, super quick no latency response even at lowest settings with my 13" Macbook. But if you need 4 channels and decent effects, Traktor is the way to go.

The 2 biggest problems with these two units, is the wide size of them, as not all dj booth's have that much free space on the fly, and with the T1, they should have had 2 in's for use of the 2 extra channels with cdj decks, specially when software crashes.

The most positive thing i believe, is the space to put your laptop ... but in my sincerest opinion, who pays 12xx dollars for the DDJ-S1, might aswell pay a couple hundred bucks more and go for Allen & Heath Xone 4D, as I did.

@droenttrilla Chances are it's a DSLR, more likely than not a Canon 550d with the standard kit lens. It looked like the filmer was trying to manual focus the whole thing, making it look less professional than it maybe could have been...

P.S. It may have also been colour graded/corrected afterwards with something like Magic Bullet Looks...
