There's apparently a big rumor about this entire scene being filmed in one take; absolutely NO mistakes. Dunno if it's true, but if any actor can lead about six other guys to a perfectly filmed sequence, it's Jack Nicholson.
I know Ledger was playing a more realistic Joker, but this is the kind of thing I'd imagine the Joker to do in real life. Nicholsen is the true 'Party Man'!
Boy does this ever bring back memories. I remember when I saw this movie when it came out around I think it was 1989 or so. Heath Ledger's Joker was definitely superb, But I think Jack Nicholsen's interpretation of the character was the best.
@TB4000 Jack N. in the role of the Joker - EPIC. He re - defined the role of the psychotic clown for a whole generation by making him a homicidal maniac who justified his killing.
He did have his makeup on, without it on his face would be white because batman knocked him into a vat of chemicals. Whenever he wants to fit in he puts the flesh colored makeup on
In no other movie have I seen a villain as iconic as the Joker start dancing comically while destroying stuff and still be taken as a threat. You can't go wrong with Nicholson. You'd be suprised that his henchmen don't go like "What's he doing?" but he's so fun and evil to them they have to dance as well. That's why he and Hamill are THE Joker to me. They carry that camp style yet prove themselves scary villains as well.
Although I think my favourite rendition of Batman in any media is the Animated Series, this still holds a place in my heart. I never get tired of watching it.
Jack's Joker tops the list to me, though that's really just my own preference for zany, whimsical villains (Heath's Joker had this to an extent, but obviously in a much more subdued and realistic tone).
Brilliant soundtrack as well. While I can understand how Burton thought Prince and Batman was an odd mix the tunes certainly complimented the Joker's character.
@ToonReel001 I know what you're saying, but are you forgetting Mark Hamill's charismatic performance as the maniacal mastermind? It is one that truly combines the charisma and dark humour with the sadistic undertones, THE definitive Joker as always in my mind thanks to Paul Dini. Love Jack Nicholsan's in its own way though ofc.
1: 08 is the infamous mistake, the red hand prints are missing from the left painting...
Yeah probably to avoid copyright. Prince is such a scrooge on his music, youtube doesn't have any of his songs. He goes on quote saying ''his real fans buy his music.'' Really Prince if your going broke just say so lol.
Jack is the only person I've seen who makes a creepier Joker without the makeup. Honestly, when he's got the white face on his face looks a little fat but when he doesn't it just kind of looks like someone carved a smile on a skull and put a beret on it.
I used to own this movie when I was little, but my mom threw it away because of this scene...........she thought it was wrong. And for ten plus years I had to live without muh Batman!
Yeah, people never thinks about it, but there's always a marketing genious behind the superstars. Do you think Britney Spears is famous because of her great "intelligence"?
