I believe that you are onto something here. I've always had the problem with calling myself a Buddhist although I've practiced the way of the Buddha for a while now. Its hard for me to give into that sectarian feel of things.
You mean when I say "he said"? Yeas. I was talking about something my teacher Gudo Nishijima often says and I'm quoting him. I should have mentioned that in the explanation.
That's a really interesting point at the end...there's been a bunch of debate over on the Comment Is Free section of the Guardian newspaper's website about Buddhism in the West (whether we can get it, whether we are sincere), but its very interesting to consider that right now, having tasted spirituality, then materialism and found both wanting that we are uniquely ready for a Middle Way.
