If they want to see top-knotch art quality...go watch Guilty Crown.

And the art isn't even bad. It's just a change in style. Colourful and sketchy isn't as easy to pull off as people might've thought.

BRS and Miku are completely seperate. BRS was an original illustration by Huke, which was picked up by Ryo of Supercell and then turned into the song and PV we all know and love, using Miku's voice for the vocals as he was at the time. Other than that the two have no connection.

The first episode was pure shit.

The CG is fucking horrible, The new character designs are shit, Yomi looks like a god damn hipster, and Mato is a pussy. I liked the OVA much better.

They only spent one fucking day together and now they have this somehow amazing friendship. I how the OVA actually showed how their friendship progressed. And it was only one hour! >:U What a shame. It actually had a good soundtrack too.

The character design changes are subtle and look reasonable. Their uniforms went from Middle School in the OVA to High School in the PV, so I think it's safe to assume they aged. (I'm just guessing, I forget if they were in Middle Shool in the OVA, but they did wear middle school-like outfits.)

@Hontaish Getting consistent OVA quality for a TV series is pretty much impossible. The 2D animation was terrible for a first episode (usually higher quality) so imagine how bad it would be for 2D fight scenes, which is only reason most people watch BRS. You have to weigh the cons and pros with cost-cutting CG and bad 2D. It already looks like it has a shitty budget, so at least the fight choreography and models are nice. Guess the OVA sales didn't do so well. I agree, WTF Dead Master.

@Hontaish Hehe, I'm speculating that this is all a prequel and Dead Master will return to her original design at the end of this anime. Turning completely evil like the main antagonist she is supposed to be. Despite all Mato's effort, she couldn't save Yomi in the end.

I'm a little disappointed about the Dead Master's character design (She looks more like a Magical Girl then a badass, which she is) but as long as she still has her scythe I don't think it's too much to mind. The Black Rock Shooter, on the other hand, has a beautiful character design. It blends the PSP version BRS and the original BRS designs very nicely. Can't wait to watch!

It really looks like a very low budget production...Character design has been changed so much in order to simplify animation that you barely recognized the original style of Huke. Budget seems so tight that they can't even afford to do a full 13-ep season anime. With only 8 eps, I bet that the story is as cheap as the OVA...better stay away from this...

this is definitely the series i am most looking forward to in the winter 2011/2012 line up, sure the character design doesn't look as awesome as it did in the OVA but this looks like it will be superior to its OVA counterpart, one thing i am a little bit disappointed about is the change of uniforms but that's all i could point out for now, something i am hoping for is the original BRS song sung by miku to be used in the actual series and not just as bgm music for the trailer
