The point is not eveyone goes to a show to get their ass kicked. I go to shows and I'm not a violent person and I hate when I get hit by someone moshing or trying to mosh with me, it just ruins the show for people that are there for the music.Im not into that shit, and people that go to shows to "mawsh" just to hurt people to feel like a tough guy are fucking pathetic. look, jim ward added the post hardcore type sound (clever guitar riffs,good patterns,catchy choruses) and cedric and omar added the experimentation and deeper sound (lyrics,improvisation,effects,­dark sinister riffs ect.) but in the end the reason ATDI worked was becuase all those sounds came together really well, the mars volta are better than sparta in my opinion but neither will be as good as ATDI were

@joshingledew its not really even that simple. the post-hardcore sound didn't come from anyone, it was the combination of all the members, none of which enjoyed hardcore music, which created the sound. jim ward was the accessible pop-ish one, omar added some salsa-influences (if you pay close attention) and also some more experimentation and improvisation, tony kinda had a simpler rock n' roll groove but did it extremely well, cedric added progressive influence, and paul did a bit of glam-metal.
