And my answer to the Duke not reacting violently to firelight it that maybe the Duke and his owls like fire since it isn't quite the same as sunlight or flashlights. The owls are seen using candlelight later. However, the sun is pretty much made of fire...hmmm.

@LindsayTheWolf13 Actually, the sun isn't made up of fire, since fire needs oxygen to burn, and there is no oxygen in space. It's really a big ball of hydrogen particles being converted into helium particles in less than one second, giving it its bright glow.

Needless to say, I don't blame the owls for not liking the sun in this movie...
