  • Excelente! Ah... Isso apaga qualquer desavença quanto à velocidade! Espetacular! =D

  • BRAVO!!!!! BRAVO!!!!BRAVO!!!!!!!

  • Brasil feelings *--------*

  • Beautiful music. Although watching the players is distracting. Best to listen with eyes closed.

  • Maravilhoso !!!!!!!!!! Venham tocar em São Paulo

  • I do not have any other words !

  • Five minutes ago I was listening to Katy Perry. I found this from a friend's suggestion, she doesn't even compare on the same scale as this. This is actually truly amazing.

  • Maravilhosa, Vila Lobos é o máximo e vocês arrasaram, saudações do Brasil!

  • So many cellos in one spot...

  • Nota 10, é muito bom ouvir música de qualidade.

  • Thank you very much !

  • grande villa lobos

  • Muito bob. Sensacional

  • Ugh. People are such snobs.

    Beautiful interpretation! Bravo.

  • bravooo

  • Embolada literally means Tangled.

Villa-Lobos based this "tempo" on the music from the northeast region of Brasil.

There, Embolada is a kind of real fast singing (and game), where the words would "tangle" on theirselves if you have not the apropriate skill to sing it.

People also call it by another name: "Coco de Embolada".

The "Coco" is also a dance and many "Emboladas" are made for dancing.

I can only guess that Villa-Lobos was trying to bring to his music some of this dance and this game.

  • Embolada, tangled, probably well describe the tempo of the movement...

  • Im seeing that you guys are arguing about the tempo and about brazilian music being relaxed and so on. You might be right. Just want to ask something: Do you know what does "embolada" mean? hehe

  • Interesting, this controversy about the tempo. You might be curious to check the tempo of 12 Cellists of the Berlin Philharmonic or the Rastrelli quartet, both on the YouTube.

  • the hole piece is in tension, it is too fast and it appears that people are not really caring about the other guys

  • The sound is somewhat muddy...

  • i don't care about camera but i think, it's a bit too fast

  • Too fast. Brazilian music is much more relaxed that this. Bad camera work. Obviously a guy enamored with the "dancers" in the middle; long stretches where they were "emoting" while others had the melody.

  • @elainebmack Brazilian music is much more relaxed than this? When was the last time you were in Brazil? Brazilian music for the most part, at least what I hear in Brazil, is hectic, and they play everything twice or three times as loud as they should.

  • well done...Bravo!!!!

  • Great Villa-Lobos. I am so proud of being Brazilian. He and Bidú Sayão are the best representers of our art that could ever exist. And this awesome musicians are doing a great job in performing his art. Just awesome to hear this.

  • @Guilherme7530 u forgot abaout hermeto pasqual... =P

  • cool setting ;D

  • Loved it, this is a great group! A lot of beautiful women... and one old guy on the far right.

  • @chessmeister the old guy is Valter Despalj, the director of the ensemble

  • @chessmeister i think the old guy might be a teacher.

  • Tempo is good. As a matter of fact, couldn't be better. This folk rythm from Brazilian Northeast - Embolada - is not relaxed at all, it is rather quick and vigorous.

    Great playing. Most annoying camera.

  • Damn cameraman!!!

  • grandiosa versión, es la tercera vez seguida que la escucho (en bucle)

  • good articulation!

  • molto bravi...

  • Asombroso, los felicito muy bueno de verdad :)

  • Brava! =D ...

  • The ensemble are made of "virtuosi" musicians...They play fast because it´s a pleasure for them...ha ha ha..

But if they could spend some days in a contryside town of Brazil in this summer the "tempo" surely would be more relaxing...Look at the woman´s dancing at 3´15... the camera man forgot the male soloists !! ha ha ha...

  • to most something like that is actually distracting and rather annoying

  • @harpsinth She's so cute! I've fallen in love with her!

  • @harpsinth

I totally agree with you: the tempo could be more relaxed and the coordination would improve. I am glad to see that the world still remembers and plays Villa-Lobos. :-) And enjoy playing it!

  • Ta porra! Villa-lobos era muito doido.

  • I think you've made the good tempo. Just some little problems concerning coordination and balance, that's all. Bravo!!!

  • WOW! I LOVE IT!!!

    BRAVO!!!!

  • so fast guys, but congratilations for the technical...

  • a bit fast, but even so far above the average technical performance.
