A subwoofer playing a sound at roughly 50 hz (use a frequency generator). We also placed it directly on the cone of the speaker which was covered in plastic.

Water + cornstarch :)
Non-newtonian fluid.
Basically just doesn't go with the normal flow of liquids, as you can see.
Also, it's generally 2 parts starch, 1 part water (I think andrew made a mistake)
