@MrDjchezzare – To each their own, but I must say I do not agree. I feel that Buddy’s voice is more appealing than Elvis’s. Also, musically, I feel that this version has more talent.
This is alright, but the Elvis version blows this out of the water The cool bass riff isn't there; the Elvis version is more raw & edgey; plus Elvis' voice is way better!
this song was written for me.. i was born in the wrong era. i would have looked amazing in my horn rimmed glasses reading book and secretly listening to buddy holly on the radio at night.
@aalainaa - Some things are timeless. My wife told me when we first met that (I'm paraphrasing) "fashion" is temporary and "style" is timeless. Buddy fits in that "style" category along with almost all music, style, and culture from before 1968. I was born in 1970 and my generation was the late '80s, but I listen to mostly 1962 and further back music ...as far back as I can find...yes that includes Neanderthal music, but I wouldn't call that "style" :) - stay cool! .
@MovieMan891 Only the first picture is Gary Busey. And the picture at 1:07 is John Mueller, a Buddy impersonator. Other then those two pictures, the rest are all of the Real Buddy Holly. :)
I love how lots of people consider Buddy Holly a "simple" guitar player - until they try and play what he did! The guitar/instru break here is a masterpiece - sheesh, just try and tap your finger as fast as he's playing those downstrokes!
@musterdable It's your opinion, but Elvis voice in this song is much more dynamic and sexier. What I mean is that this version of Buddy (who happen to be one of my favorite artists) is too soft, too pop, too safe.....and it's clear he's imitating Elvis in some parts
@musterdable Elvis's version is so much more sexier. I like them both but no way Buddy could stand on the same stag as Elvis without all the girls booing him off. Sorry Buddy but that's the truth. : )
What a classic ! Buddy was feeling uneasy on the way to the airport the night of Feb 3 1959, but was reassured by the pilot everything would be okay. The rest is history. This has to be the greatest tragedy in the history of Rock & Roll. One can only imagine what great stuff this guy would have produced had he lived longer. May his music live forever !.
This song, along with "Well Alright" and "I'm gonna love you too" are my three favotite Buddy Holly songs of all time. This is quite a statement considering Buddy had SO MANY great songs. Yes, this guy was and always will be the true King of Rock and Roll. Sorry Elvis, but you were an imposter, a pretty boy. Buddy Holly was true KING -- no exceptions.!
@kenslinks Yeahh , I think it is too. LOl! Didn't realize when I made the video. And the picture at 1:06 is John Mueller (An Impersonator) but hes so good at impersonating Buddy that you probably wouldn't notice that it wasn't the Real Buddy!! :)
@theslice2 errr yeah he did. It's different, but it's not bad just because it is different. I've heard much worse covers of songs than Cee Lo Green's version of this.
Great song ... AND THANKS FOR INCLUDING THE LYRICS.

This song reminds me of the song "Don't be cruel" - Elvis.
I swear both songs are in the same key and share a very similar rhythm. :p

I am getting this song on 45rpm, but I was wondering if the original recording of this song was on 78rpm? Does anyone know?

With all due respect to Cee-Lo, this version is 1000000 times better.
