  • yeah, who's the seller?

  • Great sax sound for $50. That first tune's a Thelonious Monk tune, right?

    Encore, Encore!

  • thank you yes, it's an attempt at well you needn't . probably the wrong key. I learned it on alto and didn't change the fingering. as you can see , people have varied opinions on the sound of the sax. some say it sounds like duck sex others like it. it's a joy to play that's all I care about.

  • tats an amazing 50$ sax btw

  • yes, I like it a lot. it's a joy to play. the only thing wrong with it was the placement of the ring for the neckstrap. i had another one added at the proper balance point. then it was great. I made a neckstrap with no adjustment for it that fits me perfectly. i never need to adjust it and it stays tied to the sax all the time.

  • wats d name of the company?

    where i can get one?

i live in india n jupiter n pearl river r most commonly available here. i cldnt find any reviews for pearl river though. n they cost almost double the price here so i dnt wanna buy one n regret! i wish some one wld post a video on a pearl river!!!!!!!

  • ha! for a sec i thought tat was a left handed saxophone! but ofcourse its a mirror image. do u get left handed saxophones????

  • no its a curved soprano

  • sopranino really are never curved i think Orsi makes a cruved on but thats insanly hard to make and costs probably as much as a soprillo

  • the helmke plays like a $700 dollar one, its a great beginer sax

  • whered you get it???????

  • I'd buy it in a heartbeat for $50. Please tell us!

  • you are very talented. I am getting a helmke soprano in about a week... I played it at the our local music store, the only thing I need to do is fit the keys a tad better which my dad knows how to so, he fixed instrumets ago...

  • hey thanks, I'm not familiar with helmke. did you like it? that's what matters. some people make fun of this horn because it's cheap but I like it a lot. keep honkin

    scott

  • yes exactly. the room wasn't big enough to stand back far enough from the tripod :>)

  • your hands seem to be backwards...

are you recording into a mirror?

  • yes the room was small so i bounced off a mirror

to widen the field of view

  • very ingenious :D

i would never have thought of something like that!

  • yah, I think people think my playing is all jerky and wierd but that's just the song. my interpretation anyway. I screw it up a little but it' fun to play

  • That's cool! I got the $50 Chinese soprano on eBay too, and I think it's pretty great! Funny - the horn was $50, and the shipping was $250! It plays fine and lays well under the fingers. I double on alto, and it's important that the soprano doesn't feel too dissimilar to the other horn. The only really crappy thing is the silly blue lacquer that flakes off on my hand!

  • Your vibrato is good.Your Sax is also great!

  • thanks, lets hook up and jam when i'm in malasia. you guys are hot

  • A day in the life of a Fool

  • why don't you go ahead and buy one. then stick it in your butt :>)

  • lol and no beding keys... lol

  • That's a nice sax, how much did you pay for it?

  • Wow, Scott!!!

Over 5000 hits on this one!!! Think maybe you oughtta just put a record out and make some money, honey!

    CHACHACHING!

    HE'S TERRIFIC!

    xoxo

    H & H

  • You're getting a nice tone out of that little thing (it reflects nicely on you... sorry i had to go for the pun!)

I've actually been looking for a little cheapie like that but the deals seem to have dried up.

  • WOW great tone for a 50 dolla sax...and nice playing

  • manny you're a goof

  • great playing. The tone is very fine for an el cheapo sax. Almost unbelievable.

  • Thanks,

it's funny you say that, because I like the sound of it. it sounds "low" when people hear it in real life they say that. but I get a lot of comments like "you suck" or "that sax sucks" maybe cuz it's youtube. I disagree, I think it's a great little horn. I have considered imporing more but they need little fixes like replacement of the neckstrap ring. it wasn't in a good spot. it would be a pain to change them all.

  • I have a china sax too. 100 bucks for a tenor.. I took it to a tech and he says it plays like a 2 k say that he has.

I can not play past high D .. I am not sure if it is the say or me lol.

  • What's the first song you're playing? I know the 2nd one is Carnaval!

  • it's an attempt at "well you needn't" by thelonius monk. a lot of people think it sounds jerky and sucks but the song is supposed to be a little jerky like that even if my playing sucks.

  • Hí Scott

I like the sound of that saxophone, and You are good at it to!

I´t could be a good instrument for "free jazz" also.

  • Sounds a bit like an upside-down "Night in Tunisia."

Nice sound. Is that a plastic sax?

  • nope , it's a little copy of the yanigasawa but made in china. I think that was their inspiration. they just got lucky with it. I really love it.

  • he was talking' about the SONG you where playin'. (; nice vid. greetings, chris

  • I have a Chines flugelhorn, Roy Benson. price 800 US Dollars. Typical scool instrument, its OK for me. I like that saxophone, You can have it on every trip and hotel rooms to play a song on!

    4* rate from me!

  • I like it too. funny the only positive comments come from real players with enough guts to put up a video. thanks :>) scott

  • Where can I get one for 50 bucks?

  • good eye :>) i'm filming in a mirror! so i could make goofy faces and have room in the room for a camera

  • Where did you get it from? Can you give us a website or something?

  • yes indeed this is a soprano. I have a straight one myselve.

  • 50 bucks?

where exactly can i get any kind of curved sop for 50 bucks? i certainly would pay 50 bucks for what you're playing.

if you use your ear enough and force lip everything down/up where you can i'm sure it could be used to sound pretty okay.

  • i hear a litte out of tune. isn't it?

  • wau, never saw such a sax:). you play really good!

  • thanks, i feel it was a little stumbly. i should really focus on playing within my ability and developing a sweet tone becasue I just don't have the dexterity for bebop.

i saw a street musician last week playing simple christmas songs with a tone so sweet it would make you cry. there's no shame in that.

  • lol! you're killing me. it's probably my playing. I think the horn would sound great played well. that middle d does sound pretty far off though. maybe I need to adjust the mousepiece

  • NO! DONT ADJUST FOR MIDDLE D!!! everyone knows middle d is a little sharp on the sax, u gotta do it with ur mouth :]

  • okay okay . point taken :>)

  • nvr mind. i saw the mirror

  • why doesn't anyone mention my dramatic use of lighting to set the mood? makes the production look exorbitant doesn't it?

  • left hand?

  • that is a curved soprano u can tell cuz its higher than an alto

  • THose are soprano saxes :) i saw them in the musci store near me lol i never knew ppl actually brought them O.o but the ones in the music store are like 300-1,000 heh xD

  • that isn't a soprano sax... That's just a freakishly small alto.

  • damn those sneaky chinese!

  • It's a curved sopranino sax. Yes, they exist, yes, they are freakishly small. But it's still in the soprano area. Alto's have a deeper low sound.

  • This is a TRUE soprano; a curved soprano. Japan Yanigisawa makes excellent curved soprano; I have got one. Taiwan Unison also makes curved soprano, and many Chinese manufacturers make curved soprano.
