daphnie ruben-vega's voice is the best. she made this song what it is. she colors the lyrics beautifully & emotes fully. she makes me cry!!!! she is an amazing singer. her vocal quality is perfect!!!! her crescendos suberb! she's got grit but she also has sweet tones too. singing isn't always about sounding perfect...it's about telling a story...she does that!!!!! i adore her!!!
Original is heads and tails better than the film (Rosario Dawson) version - so much more emotion. The show was written for the stage and while the film was a decent representation of what Larson created, it was not the intended medium. Dawson is not a vocalist, she's an actor who can carry a tune and it showed in her very careful rendition. Decent for a gal who doesn't sing, but she's no Daphne Rubin-Vega. ;o)
