  • those fat chicks making that duck face look like duck-billed platypodes...

  • any chance he's a secret agent called perry the platypus!

  • genome sequence and analysis is widely use for identifying the genetic structure of a species.. Ironically, platypus is only one of a kind!

  • what is a genome? Google please..hehe.. I'm so dumb.

  • 7:04 Dogs and Cows have a close common ancestor? The mouse evolved after the dog? T thought the mouse was one of the earliest mammals. Weird, am I reading this correctly

  • evolution FTW!

  • ... he is semi-aquatic, egg-laying mammal of action... *Perry!*

  • the platypus is my fav animal ever! i am upsessed with it and it's scientific name is Ornithorhynchus Anatinus.

  • I think the platypus is cute =D

  • What a poor pick for an animal to attempt to disprove evolution. To me, it is one that I would use to indicate simillarity between mammals, reptiles, and birds.

  • One of the most intriguing animals.. thanks for this, very informative. =D

  • OH GOD ITS SO CUTE

  • The Expanding Earth theory makes more sense than Pangaea Theory. It would explain why all early earth fossils were creature lived exclusively underwater. Think of the planet swelling, displacing the oceans as it bloats outward. Maybe continental drift is a kind of "stretch mark".

I dunno, it's just a thought worth provoking.

  • comparative genomics is simplistic?

  • I live in Australia, I have seen them for myself.

They look like small, furry lizard. It has EVERY characteristic a lizard has, yet it has fur.

Where in this video exactly, is there any deception going on?

    "Genome is the buzz word"

Maybe because it was only discovered in last 10 years. DNA, within the last century.

I mean , who the fuck do you think you are?

Stay the fuck away from legitimate science

Ignorant piece of shit. Meanwhile, you sit wonder why people like you are laughed at.

  • @Certifier7 monotremes are the last of the therapsids (the link between mammals and reptiles) and their genome is evidence of that link. They have a fair number of reptillian and proto-mammalian genes. What do you have against genetic evidence? You probably wouldn't want to know that you are only seperated from other apes by a fusion of the 2nd and 13th chromosome then ^_^ Monotremes are proto-mammals and humans are apes :)

  • The woman at the beginning has a duck-billed platypus mounted on her head

  • ...haha 2:10-2:30 ...

    (A) soft, sensitive "bill" and lays eggs like a duck

    (B) fur like an animal

    (C) both webbed and clawed feet

    (D) pockets in its jaws to carry food like a hamster

    (E) a spur on rear legs which is poisonous like a snake's fang

what were the ancestors of this amazing creature? ... "it's got something of a fossil history eh!" ...lol

  • (A) only if you don't know anatomy (it's a snout)

    (B) thats because it is a mammal

    (C) there are other mammals with webbed feet/hands and claws/nails.

    (D) and?

    (E) the poison is nothing like a snakes, it is composed of 250 separate chemicals with no necrotising effects.

The Platypus is a monotreme, look it up. There are only 5 known monotreme species, the others are echidnas. They are essentialy living transitionals between mammals and reptiles (though definetly well into the mammalian clade)

  • Great video.

  • Very nice. I had the pleasure of seeing Chris Ponting give an excellent talk at a protein evolution conference last week.

I've only just discovered this channel and find it criminally undersubscribed.

  • Great Upload! Another 'gap' closed.
