Richard Wright wrote the song and sang, if I'm not mistaken. Syd Barrett did the guitar. It's their 2nd album, A Saucerful of Secrets, and Syd was fading. Thanks for the posting.
Every variety of organism evolved into a unique organism or they couldn't be distinguished to begin with. If some are more similar than others it's because they're closer relatives. Human beings are classified as great apes, we're one variety of ape. Species can also remain the same for long time periods if their original form doesn't need to change due to external influence. You have different conditions in different areas and these select for specific phenotypes with a conducive structure.
@zephranna01 dude you're the problem with today's society...your backwards thinking slows down our evolution. It doesn't take the bible to make me realize what is already common sense. David is not satanic...you should get out more.
@zephranna01 haha your comment is funny....but gilmour is anything but evil he has helped many many people if anything he's an angel of music and peace.
yes not sure norman would have made it to the actual album...
and by this time i'm quite sure pink floyd had already been a five-piece, since gilmour is on many other tracks of sfos... i believe they had at least already made french and italian tv appearances with gilmour on guitar. regardless before ricks death the saddest part about this song is barrett's beautiful yet maddened slide... no doubt something taken on by gilmour for at least some time. jesus, rick... the time came?
Quite Sad when you think that of the 4 people who played on the original Record version in 1968, only Roger Waters is still alive. This was recorded before David Joined so Syd was on guitar still. Rick of course sadly RIP, Nick Mason didnt play drums on the Album version their producer Norman Smith did and he has also passed away.
This has to be one of my favorite PF songs. I would like to thank Dr. David Gilmour for making me want to learn guitar and Mr. Rick Wright for making me want to learn piano.
My top 10 guitarists; 1. Dave Gilmour 2. James Hetfield 3. Matt Bellamy 4. Synyster Gates 5. Izzy Stradlin and Slash (both were essential to each others sound) 6. John Frusciante 7. The Edge 8. Ian D'sa 9. Dimebag Darrell 10. Eric Clapton I don't necessarily think these guys are the actual best, but I appreciate their style and sound most, more than I do some people who were perhaps more talented (e.g. Hendrix)
@rch51 I'm a guitarist and I related to your list.... Here's mine: 1. David Gilmour 2. Pat Metheny 3. Steve Rothery (Marillion) 4. Steve Hackett 5. Larry Carlton 6. The Edge 7. Steve Vai 8. Steve Howe 9. Greg Howe 10, Allan Holdworth
i saw some bullshit poll on the top ten guitarists of all time and david wasnt even on the list,,,,,some people dont know shit about music, im glad my dad jammed pink floyd in my ear when i was only 5 years old, im now 50 and pink floyd and david will always be my favorites..rip richard.......mark
@PabloMaffioli He is John Carin, he has played and toured with Pink Floyd since Roger Waters left, later on he has played with both David and Roger. He played as well at Live 8 with Pink Floyd...
This song is a lot better than I remember it being. But then the production on Saucerful wasn't that great, so maybe it's Gilmour and his band making it.
this is something special from the floyd beautiful song..nice to see someone holding the slide the same as me and the great dave aswell..rip rick, syd
davidtheguitarman: no offense, but nobody asked. that has nothing at all to do with this video. i have favorites too (they're different from yours), but this isn't the place to share them so i won't.
@djtrixen hey my favorites are 1-Animals 2-Wish you were here 3-Final cut 4-The wall 5-Dark side of the moon 6-Meddle 7-Atom heart mother 8-Division bell 9-A Saucerful of Secrets 10-The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn 11-Ummagumma 12-A Momentary Lapse of Reason
Awesome song. Its called Remember a Day off A Saucerful of Secrets and put on Relics. I didnt know Wright wrote and sang the song, nor that he died not too long ago.
Pink Floyd is the best band ever pernament there will never be a band to catch beauty and perfection is such a perfect way, i love them all and i really really mis Rick
David Gilmour is THE greatest guitar "Player" of all! Always creating sounds totally unique to any genre or style of music, he could even make chinese opera sound soothing and mellow,
I like this, but it sounds better when Rick sang it. RIP Rick.
