Richard Wright wrote the song and sang, if I'm not mistaken. Syd Barrett did the guitar. It's their 2nd album, A Saucerful of Secrets, and Syd was fading. Thanks for the posting.

Every variety of organism evolved into a unique organism or they couldn't be distinguished to begin with. If some are more similar than others it's because they're closer relatives. Human beings are classified as great apes, we're one variety of ape. Species can also remain the same for long time periods if their original form doesn't need to change due to external influence. You have different conditions in different areas and these select for specific phenotypes with a conducive structure.

yes not sure norman would have made it to the actual album...

and by this time i'm quite sure pink floyd had already been a five-piece, since gilmour is on many other tracks of sfos... i believe they had at least already made french and italian tv appearances with gilmour on guitar. regardless before ricks death the saddest part about this song is barrett's beautiful yet maddened slide... no doubt something taken on by gilmour for at least some time. jesus, rick... the time came?

Quite Sad when you think that of the 4 people who played on the original Record version in 1968, only Roger Waters is still alive. This was recorded before David Joined so Syd was on guitar still. Rick of course sadly RIP, Nick Mason didnt play drums on the Album version their producer Norman Smith did and he has also passed away.

My top 10 guitarists; 1. Dave Gilmour 2. James Hetfield 3. Matt Bellamy 4. Synyster Gates 5. Izzy Stradlin and Slash (both were essential to each others sound) 6. John Frusciante 7. The Edge 8. Eric Clapton I don't necessarily think these guys are the actual best, but I appreciate their style and sound most, more than I do some people who were perhaps more talented (e.g. Hendrix)
