  • wonder if you've changed your opinion by now? have you read a book by Jed Gillen 'Obligate Carnivore: Cats, Dogs & What it Really Means to be Vegan'. I don't have any cats, so I cannot know what's true for them. But the book seemed quite reasonable for me.

  • My friend is a vegetarian since she was young and she considered meat discussting. When she got a kitten her first instinct is to give veges but fortunately she did a lot of research of what good food to feed her and came to conclusion that they need meat and RAW MEAT. No matter how gross she thought it was, she gave them meat, bones, organs (preymodel diet). Her cat was in a good health, teeth, less poo and she knows what her cat is eating. She is my inspiration and my cat is healthy like hers.

  • @LitisGod Oxygen is not an energy source. Neither is water.

  • heehee.. i was just surprised that my cat eats raw squash, coconut, yam, banana, avocado. etc.. but FISH is his favorite.. heehhee

  • "birds and what... blue jays.... oh wait thats a bird..." lol! great video, is it easy for your cat to find bird? like could it survive on nothing else?

  • cat's and dogs are carnivores. Nature made them that way. A man named Darwin had a great theory of survival of the fittest. Cats and dogs are not meant to thrive off of a vegan diet.. END OF CONVERSATION

  • Cats and dogs didn't choose to live with humans they're our pets and we keep them enough from living their natural lives.

also Humans are the far worst. we eat ANYTHING and over consume and treat cows, pigs etc at horrible unnatural conditions. So I can why people do become vegans and stuff. But keep that life style to ourselves that can choose it.

  • Yea I new a vegetarian that fed her cat a vegan diet, and it lost weight super fast went blind and died...DUR... also humans evolved to eat meat, which is evident in our molars. Our molars are shot and sharp for tearing meat.

  • no debate. feeding a carnivore vegetarian is negligent and irresponsible. if you buy into vegetarian branded pet foods (or any prepackage food imo), -you are an naive fool with no proper grasp of the nature world outside your tiny sphere of existence.

if you cant respect the animal and feed it a proper diet, you are not an aminal lover and do not have the abilty or right to care for one.

no debate. this is empirical fact.

  • To all vegans: do you think in the wild cats would go for the carrots instead of mice and birds. I DONT THINK SO. If you want a vegan pet get a rabbit!!!! How can you impose your beliefs on other species??!!! Jeezz!!! As I once heard a vegan say humans don't have claws or canines, which would suggest we are not built to be carnivores, well cats do have claws, long and sharp canines and a shorter intestine in order to hunt, kill, eat and digest prey!!!

  • Cats are carnivores and Dogs are omnivores. Neither should live without some form of meat. I'm glad you agree!

  • I couldn't imagine depriving my dog of the food he needs. How could he tell me if his food is insufficient or if he is hungry? Do you just wait and see if your dog will end up sick or not? We shouldn't be experimenting on animals... I thought that only big companies did that.

Oh no, my dog is happy and healthy and fed naturally, as he certainly wouldn't solely eat leaves and vegetables out in the wild.

It's never to late to do the right thing. Loving animals is also accepting life as it is.

  • Cats and dogs are smarter than vegans and know how to maintain their own nutrition. Now go eat some tofu, you vagina.

  • Cats are defiantly carnivores and absolutely need meat in their diet

  • Cats do like greens sometimes, mine likes spinach, and really loves cantaloupe.

  • average age of outdoor cats four years? my outdoor cats are in their double digit years now ! but they pretty much stay by the house

  • I feed my cats Ami Cat which is a totally vegan diet and they thrive on that. One of ours had overactive thyroid (very common in cats) and with the vegan diet and naturopathic compound, we got him off medication and normalized blood work to the astonishment of the vet. Their food has taurine and everything they need without causing health problems due to commercial cat foods like cancer and so on. Our dog also eats a vegan diet which is exactly what we eat.

  • @MasterAtriedes

You shouldn't own cats or dogs. Forcing a vegan diet on carnivores is cruel and will kill them. You are just forcing your vegan beliefs on your pets and it's disgustingly selfish. I hope you are reported to your local humane society.

  • @CosmicTDI I agree. Being human (omnivores), we make the choice to eat whatever diet we choose to, but pets and animals must be fed accordingly to their species' needs...

  • If some people feed their dog or cat a vegetarian diet then they are morons. Cats and dogs are carnivores. Carnivores NEED raw meat, organs, offal, bones, blood, etc. They need it. We are not smarter than God or Mother Nature. Don't think you can give your pet a "better" diet by feeding vegetarian foods. Feed it raw.

  • Good. I agree. Cats thrive on meat alone, preferably with bones and organs, and all raw.

  • People like vegans shouldn't be allowed to own animals. The best thing a vegan can do for an animal, is let that animal eat him.

  • I told somebody at the shelter that cats had to eat meat and if they couldn't handle the food that they might want to consider one of our rabbits or one of the canaries we just got.

I feed my cat and dog raw meat and my betta is a carnivore that eats meat too. I would never force them to eat a diet they couldn't handle or benefit from.

  • Comment removed

  • Yes, cats are OBLIGATE CARNIVORES! This means that they can't handle grains, vegetables, and all that shit. They really do best on a raw meat diet! It's the best way.

  • LOL did you ever look at the INGREDIENTS in your cats animal based cat feeds? they eat 90 to 95% plants anyways. Cats live better and healthier then the do eating the animal based cat feeds you feed them.

  • ALL ANIMALS EAT THEIR FOODS RAW IN THE WILD, AND THE REASON HUMANS AND ONLY OUR DOMESTICATED PETS ARE THE SICKEST SPECIES ON THE PLANET IS CAUSE THEY EAT COOKED FOODS LIKE WE DO.

  • cats are obligate carnivores...i don't understand how people think that going against nature = healthy? is being vegan like a religion? do you believe God told you to do this, because then i can see its at least that explains your blind faith in it...

  • @justforwatchingcraps whhhaaattt? going against nature? dude fruits and vegetables are Nature. Meats, Dairy's, Processed Foods are acid forming and mucus forming in the body and linked to literally every major disease in humankind. When your entire system is backed up with mucus, the lifeforce slows down and diseases form. I agree though cats are meant to eat meat.

  • @mellowtonen what do you know about nature and physiology?? nature is a little more complicated than wut those kindergarden coloring books had. cats are obligate carnivores, their intestines evolved specifically for meat and only meat. CONSUMING NON-MEAT IS UNNATURAL FOR A CAT. how our body reacts to meat isn't the same as how a cat's body reacts to meat. even then, we definitely need animal products to an extent. and wut the frik is a "life force" and how does it "slow down" lol.

  • @justforwatchingcraps I know about nature because I eat it everyday (raw fruits and vegetables) and eliminating meat has cleared up any muccus or allergies I used to have, I don't get sick anymore, energy levels way up, that's the lifeforce I speak of, it's the natural state your body should be in but through chemically drenched processed foods and complex protein animal meats our entire internal system backs up eventually causing disease.

  • @justforwatchingcraps You're mocking something you have no experience with man....if you tried eliminating those foods you'd for sure see how slow and congested your mind and body are, I didn't believe it either, but the experience proved it well.

  • Animals are animals and process meat. They should take your animals away from you...

  • damn I had written much more... but im not going to do it al over. Have a nice day

  • This is really making me mad, people who give there cat a diet like this and DARE to say they are animal lovers and ignore the facts of proper cat feeding are not better than people who work on a factoryfarm and feed thos animals soya and corn so they grow really fast......and did you know if thos animals where not been sloughtered they have died! because they where feed THE WRONG FOOD. We don't know a lot of the food need of cat's so a vegan vegetarian

  • THAT. Animals are treated horibly today, the rain forest is burning for food for catle. But it IS nature to eat meat. If you don't wan't them to get this catfood from factoryfarming..... Hey there is biological meat, biological cat food and u even can go fishing foor youre cat. But you have to think about there needs!cats require nutrients that are found only in meat. These nutrients include: taurine, arachidonic acid, vitamin A, vitamin B12, niacin, thiamin and protein. And they can't

  • cat at risk and force him op to a diet what is against his nature because of youre ethics... It is not wrong too kill an animal for it's meat if you do it with respect and give them a good life. Im a vegan because I think there is nothing natural of the way we tread our animals. The are seen as products AND THEY DON"T GIVE THEM THERE NEEDS LIKE SPACE, NURCING THERE YOUNGSTERS AND A NATURAL DIET (they get sick from soy and corn) SO LET"S DO THAT TO OUR CAT"S...BECAUSE WE WAN"T THEM TO BE LIKE

  • and need the amino in meat. I think it is arogant to feed youre cat like that. You are denying him proper food because of youre believes. What believes? Animals shouldn't get killed? Wake up stupid in the wild animals need to be killed otherwise the population get to big. We need lions and wolves and lions and wolves need meat. Simple as that. Cat's cannot absorb beta carotene en put that in a vtiamine A, they can not absorb b12 from eggs, milk and cereals so you are putting youre

  • APLAUSE!!!!! I'm a Vegan and I think it is STUPID and ANIMAL ABUSE to feed youre cat a vegan or vegetarien diet. You must understand that cats CAN'T digest plant food, they can't get the vitamine and nutriens out of the food. Yes you can give them Taurine so they don't get blind... but they need much more then tourine. Are you willing to give youre cat syntethic food were his system is not made for? Do you think that is the best for youre cat? I don't think so. Cats ARE carnivour

  • You people are sick, you complain to us that we're monsters for domesticating animals, and bringing the animals over from their native lands for us to use as a product of food. Yet here you are upsetting the natural balance in feeding your cats, and dogs 'synthetic' foods based on their nutrition. Your forcing things yourselves, next thing you'll have a lion pack eating tofu. This is a very sad day on earth when you force an animal that needs meat, to not eat it.

  • I'm a raw vegan and indeed I agree that cats are exclusively carnivores. What I do not agree with (no offence to Kevin. I do apologize if my opinion upsets you and I hope this comment doesn't upset anyone else) is the fact that cats cannot be vegan. They can, all you need to do is make sure you add synthetic taurine to their diet and if you have male cats be vigilant when it comes to maintaining their urinary tract health.

I have 2 vegan dogs and take good care of them :)

    PEACE !!!

  • Kevin,

The one thing I was looking for you to say is that Cat's and Dog's requires specific supplementation if they are on a vegan diet. The best, basic supplement for a cat is a product called Vegecat. This is a proprietary product that contains synthetic taurine which cats require. Dogs also require specific supplementation but can live on a raw/vegan diet with lots of sprouts and grasses. Just search on the internet. The answers are there. Dogs are omnivores like humans and cats are not.

  • I recently read an article where Dr Cousins recommends E3 Live, green-blue Algae and says that's a really good source of B12 for vegans.

  • I totally agree with your view on cat and dog food... and yeah raw and not cooked meat for them is key, for sure. You won't see an animal in the wild cooking their food... haha

  • My cat loves organic coconut oil! And what is interesting: she's outdoor cat (so she eats mice and birds and also the food we buy) and since i'm giving her coconut oil daily she has no parasites. So it's very effective :)

  • avocado is toxic to cats

  • the parts that can't be digested from veggies is usually your fibers. and raw fruits and veggies are abundant in amino acids, which is what your body will break down the proteins that you ingest into anyways. so it's less work for you body to just assimilate the amino acids.

  • Part 2

That question is if humans no longer raised animals for meat, milk and eggs can we feed our cats and dogs a vegan diet and supplement the animal nutrients that they require that are missing from plant based foods so the pets can meet the nutritional requirements?

  • I agree with you about this ! My cat is on Raw cat food.. I

  • blending wheat grass is a BAD idea. B/c it oxigenates the grass which is NOT good, and b/c it heats the grass. Use a manual juicer for grass, and drink the juice immediately upon juicing.

  • We can get B12 with rejuvelac .. all vegan.

  • Yeah, cats are carnivores. Very happy you are making people aware of this. :)

  • I LOVE you shows! I look forward to them everyday, and I learn so much! Thank you, thank you.

  • "Can You Feed a Cat or Dog a Raw, Vegan Diet ?"

Sure you can....I've raised 6 cats on a vegan diet in the last 2 years. To bad cats have such a short life span. But I did get one to live almost 3 months on a raw vegan diet.

  • Duh....cats CANNOT live well on a vegan diet. The fact that your cats ONLY lived for 3 months on a vegan diet is testimony to this fact. "...almost 3 months" is NOT a long time. Cats don't have to have a short life span. Many (non pure-bred) cats can live to age 20+.

  • One of my favorite cities is Santa Fe

  • in NM

  • What about if we feed animals a raw vegan diet and give them supplements of what nutrients thats missing from meat. If we were in a vegan world, would we really have to kill animals for the sake of our pets health or can we supplement the missing nutrients that would be derived from meat? Todays world is crazy on supplements anyway. Humans can live a perfectly healthy life with a balanced vegan diet and b12 supplement ation. Pets can too with the relevant nutrition supplements they need right?

  • A human's natural diet is vegetarian, and a dog/cat's natural diet is meat/fish eating. Study digestion of each species to understand this.

Don't play God ... even if you were to feed your pets vegan (which I hope you don't) what are you going to do about all those animals in the wild to kill for food?

There is a natural balance in the world. Do what is natural for each species, rather than trying to change the system.

It is ego to try and make cats and dogs vegan - wierd!

  • Oops ... my long message for in response to alexjiayou

  • Part 1. Firstly I never said I was gonna go ahead with a vegan diet for my pets, and yes I do know that it is natural for some pets we have especially cats to eat meat as they are canivores, I did watch and listen to the whole video you know, and I was hoping to get a reply from someone who could have at least understand my question and answer it. Hopefully Kevin could could reply and answer my first question.

  • Part 3

Cats need Taurine which naturally occures in animal tissue maybe we don't need to still produce meat for petfood because they can make synthetic Taurine which still meets the cats nutritional requirements.

The benifits of this is that humans still don't have to kill animals. I wonder if we can still make synthetic forms of all the animal nutrients that our pets require so as to end the cruelty, remember we are still in a Vegan world btw.

  • 100% agree. Think its just an inconvenient truth that many raw vegans just can't accept. Animals eat meat.

  • @alexjiayou yes? and what would you do in a vegan world with all the natural predators that inhabit this planet? just to name a few: owls, felines, snakes, crocodiles, bears??

  • and lobster. spike the cat just loves lobster, and is unhappy when he doesn't get any. poor baby. but, he does like chives. go figure!

  • Re: Cats: Kevin is right. Cats are hypercarnivores. Please do not try to make your cat vegan.

  • What most people today fail to mention is the fact that thousands of years ago most tribes that did eat meat ate it raw/ seared, not fully cooked. Cooked meat is what, I believe, is unhealthy. For example, your body doesn't contain cholesterol receptors for oxidized cholesterol. No animal that eats meat in the wild cooks their meat. Another example would be raw dairy. You couldn't even begin to compare raw dairy with pasteurized dairy. Raw dairy is so much healthier.

  • i think it had more to do with the fact that they ate a diet of whole foods, meat or not. any tribal culture forced to change to what is now known as the standard north american diet, or highly processed foods, a plethra of health problems ensue. you can have a good diet eating wild meats, it just happens to be more effiecent for your body to eat a plant based diet.

  • I'm soooooo glad you said cats and dogs need meat. Cats and dogs are solely carnivores and NEEEEEEEEEEED meat.
