  • Awesome Swing!!! Great player's this is how you do it... Rusty Bergandine

  • Kick Ass, Pump it up and boogie. OOOOOH YEAAHH!

  • two tons of talent!!!

  • The best!!!)) Wow!!!! Love this))

  • u r goooooooooooooooddddd

  • grande Annieeeeeeeeeeeee! fantastic!

  • Wow!!! I love Annie Raines tone! I've always loved Dennis' tone and playing but I didn't know that Annie could play in the style of Little Walter. Deep and Fat!!!

  • I DONT GIVE A Shi...... to what king mic they are using! just dont care!! at all!

    sounds great! keeping lovi'n it!

    got blues? got harmonica?

  • I totally agree. Neither had their own amps.

Annie is using a mic the brilliant player Blunt White had brought (as I recall). They'd sound great on anything. One reason dennis sounds

mellower is his hand cup is tighter than annies.

  • well no doubt they can both blow some good traditional style amplified harp. What

I hear in tone difference is the mics. My guess would be Dennis is using an Astatic crystal...while Annie's sounds like

a hot Shure CR (controlled reluctance)

transducer. Just my thoughts and .02

    cents...which aint worth a dime ;)

  • I like Dennis's (Mississippee Sax) tone better than any modern times harp player,, OK, cept, maybe Steve Guyger... that is a tough call to make...but the bite Annie gets here is a wonderful tone color contrast to Dennis round fat sound.. So cool to hear the two harps play as one, yet be able to hear pick out who is doing what ...SYNERGY !!! I always knew Dennis had big ears for the rest of the band, and this lady is likewise a terrific ensemble player

  • That was simply great, too bad the sound quality was so poor, but a Jem never the less, What Synergy they had together!!

  • Gee, I thought the sound on the video is terrific for recording a live band.

  • I listen to a lot of players and harmonica blowouts and to me this is the best i've heard. A class tune played with class. Two great players who compliment eachother so well. And the best thing is neither of them is trying to outplay eachother.

  • nice jam man! That was sick! I'm trying to get better at playing my C harp, is that what they're using?

  • Harp Bb - key F

  • Fantastic stuff. They're both great players and the band is swinging - and NOT LOUD! This is how this stuff has to be played - as a band, with the true ensemble ethic. This is Rod Piazza's approach and it can't be faked or improved upon.

I sure would like lessons from Annie Raines and I thank these people (and Rod, Kim Wilson, James Harman and others) for keeping this superb music alive and well!

  • Lucky cat I am - I take some lessons from Annie!! Tone to die for and such a wonderfully nice person! I was also at this class!

  • Most harp duets are not very good, but boy is this an exception! That was just over the top cool!

  • God Damn, I love the Harp Blues and I really dig seeing a woman "Blowin' Like Hell" William Clarke style!!!

    Response to ajwhales:

Yes, we Americans are fortunate to have a ton of great Blueser's, but because of this website and other's, they're worldwide. How cool is that? ;)

  • Annie is great! I like Dennis though for his classic sound.

  • annies tone here is super fat.

    its the dog ballox.

you americans are so lucky to have all those great blues players.

  • Man, I was there, and it still knocks me out every time I watch this!

One of the best blues harp duets I've ever heard, right up there with George Smith and Rod Piazza doing "Astatic Stomp" - which this piece gives a few nods to in my opinion.

Go Dennis and Annie, two of the brightest lights in contemporary blues harp playing!

  • Annie rules!! ,but its not a competition

    (Is it?)

  • Both good but got to go with Annie

  • coooooool!!!

  • what uh sound - amazing blues harp

  • What a great combination! Annie Raines never ceases to amaze me.

  • anyone know what Annie's mic and amp set up is. Her sound is fantastique

  • As I recall, she didn't bring her own equioment. She used an extra amp that Dennis brought with him from Jersey and a mic that everyone was using on stage.

  • So, what could anyone think? It's in my favorites. Congratulations for a performance above and beyond good. Thanks. I'm sharing this with people who need to know about it.

    Buddy

  • He is just brillant and a "real" nice guy, just plain cool. doc dc

  • VERY cool!

  • Brilliant!

  • Man would listen to the bark of Annie's sound?

    Pure sweetness to the ears!
