hi .i am gonaa buy used pox xt but i am not sure because... when i buy it ,previous user has already activated it and i dont have key or something that he used for activation ..he must give me his account ???? and i can use his bought model packs ? am i right?????
you say,you use the USB connection from the POD XT straight through to the computer? No interface,no other source for powering it up?I'm interested in getting the POD XT Pro which also has the USB connection. From what I'm understanding is that you plug in to the POD,then the computer and you're off to laying down recorded music..Not bad.Are you using any software at all?Let me hear from you about this,Chris Coooley.I'd appreciate it little brother.
im gonna try and get this exact setup as far as the hardware, what are your settings for the 5150? or are they just like premade settings? im horrible with guitar settings
@ETSJoshVoxx so i have to buy the metal shop add on pack? and then a pod xt as in the bean shaped one right? not the rack system looking one? sorry for sounding stupid im new to this stuff
can someone tell me the difference between the pod xt pro and the pod xt live? i dont know which one to get. i have a studio but i would also like to use it in live situations... only if its the same quality as the xt pro though... lol
how you connect the pod xt live into the computer? are you used any of other audio interfaces or you just plug output of the pod directly to the computer?your sounds was great..
@deathmindwhite this is the red one. but just so you know, they have the exact same models/sounds, only difference is that the xt live comes with the FX expansion pack installed (which i have anyways, plus it really isn't that useful)
for the Pod yeah you're getting simulations guys, I've owned many other amps and you can't beat say the clean channel on a Marshall like DFX series, without using an amp with this we're only taking our tone so far as without an amp I could never achieve a perfect clean tone, with it i can. I love pods , theres a million uses for the XT and X3, as an effects pedal , various distortions and so on, never tried the HD pods YET doubt i will for a while either not enough amp simulations.
@JYZProductions i like real amps too, but tbh the marshall mg/dfx is not good quality, really nothing special, i'd pick a decent amp modeler over it anyday
@chriscoooley yeah a Engl Powerball , Mesa Boogie or the one at the top of my list Diamond Nitrox if you want a really heavy sounding amp like five finger death punch and so on I'd check it out
any with an all mahogany guitar with blackouts and heavy gauge strings would be amazing , I like to combine the best of both worlds... digital and physical.
None of the models sound anything like the real thing they are miserably attempting to recreate. No surprise, Line 6's are awful amps that are only used by 14 year-olds who only play shitty metal covers in their bedrooms.
@hellraiser66972 You are kinda of right about the Line 6 amps, but let me tell you that you have no idea what you're talking about when it comes to modelers. You probably don't know how to use them, and get frustrated not achieving the tone you're looking for. Anyways, learn how to use them and shut up!
What kind of recording software do you use? I've lent a Line 6 Pod XT from a friend of mine and I want to record just like you did in this video.. I don't really know how to do that, so I would be very happy if you could explain it to me!
@Bashoogstraten all i did was have the pod plugged in to my macbook's usb, then i set it as the default sound device of the computer, then in imovie i just recorded videos and it captured the pod's output for sound
@Bashoogstraten@Bashoogstraten try using audacity , acid pro, reason , cakewalk or anything like that, plug it into the usb, windows vista or 7 does all the work except installing line 6 monkey and line 6 edit which makes creating tones a lot easier ... besides that make sure to install all the updates to really take advantage of the pod.
audacity is free, everything else has a free trial mentioned
What output mode do you use?I have mine plugged into a poweramp into a 4x12 cab.I use studio direct. If I use anything else it sounds like a chainsaw.Way too much trebile. But when I use studio direct, some tones sound really muddy like a blanket is over my cab.Any ideas would be appreciated.Great playing by the way
@illchilla09 when i record directly like in this video i use studio direct. sometimes i plug the pod into my head's poweramp, and when i do that, the studio direct does sound really muddy so i switch it to stack pwramp and it sounds pretty good off the bat, i think your tones might just need extra tweaking, but ultimately stack will probably work better if you're running into one, not sure though, lots of people who run into poweramps only stick to studio direct, so yeah just mess with the tones
@ninjaduderantaro if you want to record from the mt2 straight into the computer, it'll sound like shit. look up cabinet impulses though, they might work
@Mettabosna it doesn't, but if you have it set up as the computer's audio output device like i do, then the audio from the computer comes out of whatever the pod is connected to, so even better than a CD input haha. if you're having trouble setting it up then pm me
@guvajose it'll work with any amp. if the amp has a CD/MP3 input, then i'd recommend plugging the pod into that instead of the guitar input, it'll sound better.
@chriscoooley i connect my pod xt to the guitar input and the cd input but sounds like shit, (ex) the plexi 68 model whit the drive knob cranked sound clean, its for my amp (marshall mg30dfx)? or my pod its not working?
@Jato97 hmm if its not getting any distortion on the pod, the amp isnt the problem, and honestly im not sure either, it could maybe be your guitar, maybe you have the noise gate turned too high since it'll do that sometimes. i'd ask the line 6 forum
Do any of these tones come with the pod xt or are all of them from the metal pack? Also, would I need anything in addition to the pod and a usb cable to get a good recorded sound on a computer?
hey im sure you get this asked alot but do you plug in your line 6 pod xt into your computer and go to line 6 website and get the tone and download straight to your pod and speaker out of the computer
@evil666maiden i run it into the computer through usb, while the 1/4 inch outputs go into my speakers. you can download tones, but i just make mine usually since a lot the tones people upload are garbage
Yeah those first strings are pretty thick. On your palm mute riffs it's like you've got a foam piece under the strings. Too tight for my taste, but nice tone and technique.
@qorwoduf4 thicker string gauge = more tension = tighter strings
back when this vid was made i think i had 10-52 light top heavy bottom strings on the guitar, i like that because it makes the low strings tight and good for riffing while the high strings are lighter and easy to shred on
@suihkubad totally agreeable considering a tube would have some power amp gain pushing it so it has a little meat and response. But then again..the pod stuff isn't trying to ULTIMATE authenticity, its just a way to get an approximation of the tones without spending 100 grand to get all those amps. Gotta say though, this is one of the best sound demos for th pod though. He's not using a chorus or flanger on the dang gain tones, thank goodness.
do you still have you're pod xt? what amp do you play it through? what tone correction settings you have? do you set it up to front of amp? how do you have you,re set up? in this vid how did you record the vid? camera mic or pod direct to camputer how?
@zapz2101 it's still what i play through. i run it through my computer speaker set up, and i dont run it through amps, in my opinion the amp's coloration makes it sound weird and i'd rather just use the amp sound anyway. in this video, i had it set up so that the pod records into the computer through USB, no mics, and the video and audio were both recorded in imovie
@renagade12 no amp, basically the pod goes into the computer through USB and thats how its recorded, and i hear it through my speakers because its plugged into them from the left and right outputs. you can plug it into an amp though
@chriscoooley does it sound good in recording? im planning to buy one coz im into home recording and stuff. does it need a special soundcard for it to sound good in recording (sorry for my english im Filipino)
@sprawlmessiah if you have a decent recording program it sounds great, i use it for mine, problem in most recording is the drums sound like garbage and people use far to much bass in guitar(heavy metal anyway) anyhow recording is all about layering and allowing certain instruments different areas of eq to stand out in, example being if your bass guitar is pumping heavy volume in the 80 hz range, your bass drums are going to have a hard time being heard, guitars over 12000 hz are very sharp... ect
@g2theb through an amp it can sound good, depending how clear the amp sounds. i was thinking about using it into the PA for a show once, but i decided to just use an amp instead, based on the way it sounds, i dont think it would be too great live
also, every little detail goes into getting a great tone. I found that on my treadplate dual tone, expirimenting with different reverbs helped create a darker yet thicker sound
how wud u make the bullet for my valentine tone on the Line 6?
well actually i hav truble using my Line6. i hav no idea how to use it. i jus bot it. the manual is killing me. i dont understand it!!! i need help with it! most importantly, i wana make a cover of bfmv Tears Dont Fall but i dont know how to get the bullet for my valentine noise. sigh
the pod's output goes into the speakers. as for the sound card, the pod technically is the soundcard. it's hooked up through USB and set as my computer's input and output device. for 50 dollars im not sure if i would get the metal packs, but they were having a deal when i got it where you got two packs for 40 bucks, so i got the fx junkie and the metal shop.
Peavey 5150? I though that was only on the X3? Line 6's website doesn't list any Peavey models on the POD XT. Is it part of the add on pack? 'Cause I didn't see any * with that one.
Very nice sound and nice playin too. I use a Line 6 Guitar Port...works and sounds very nice. I was going to get a POD XT in the future and I was given a price of $400 even...is it worth it? Can it connect to an amp with the use of a pc/laptop? Any and all info is appreciated. PM me with the info if you want. 5/5 \,,/
That Mesa Triple Rectifier is actually pretty killer, Nice work on the riffs too!

I would like to know if the Mesa Boogie sounds just like in this video on Pod XT??
Think its too 'soft''...
ChesterMonson2006 2 years ago
it is very soft on the pod. it can be fixed with a screamer though in the stomp box option :)
Jmlmud 1 year ago
correct, it also helps to have higher output pickups. the guitar in this video's pickup is really weak
chriscoooley 1 year ago
also, every little detail goes into getting a great tone. I found that on my treadplate dual tone, expirimenting with different reverbs helped create a darker yet thicker sound

Nice playin...what amp were u goin through? Check out my pod goin through a hybrid marshall sounds brutal!!5/5

Hmm...so the metal packs are worth it? How did you hook it to your speakers? Just straight up line-in? What kind of sound card are you using?
DetNosnip 2 years ago
the pod's output goes into the speakers. as for the sound card, the pod technically is the soundcard. it's hooked up through USB and set as my computer's input and output device. for 50 dollars im not sure if i would get the metal packs, but they were having a deal when i got it where you got two packs for 40 bucks, so i got the fx junkie and the metal shop.
chriscoooley 2 years ago
Ah, gotcha. Yeah, I was thinking of picking it up for the Peavey models. Nice video btw...very cool run-through of the amp models.
DetNosnip 2 years ago
what did you connect your pod xt to for the amp? PA system?
fobsternd 2 years ago
computer speakers with a subwoofer
chriscoooley 2 years ago
just regular comp speakers? Not the studio recording types?
fobsternd 2 years ago
i wish i had studio monitors, they would sound better, but its just a 2.1 computer speaker setup
chriscoooley 2 years ago
whats a 2.1 comp speaker setup?
fobsternd 2 years ago
two speakers and a sub

Baying of the Hounds....loved it. Nice tones man.

Peavey 5150? I though that was only on the X3? Line 6's website doesn't list any Peavey models on the POD XT. Is it part of the add on pack? 'Cause I didn't see any * with that one.
AliEnosDesch 2 years ago
its part of the Metal pack extra. They simulate a 5150
kamikazeespleen 2 years ago
@kamikazeespleen How much does it cost? Ciz I wanna just get the X3 live probably. X3 has 5150 and lots of other stuff that XT doesn't have.
AliEnosDesch 2 years ago
@kamikazeespleen How much does the Metal pack cost I meant. Thanks!

warmachine169 2 years ago
as far as US dollars, 400 for the PODXT is a ripoff (it costs 300 new here) but m not sure about any other countries
chriscoooley 2 years ago
i got mine for 100!!! YAY!
flash19950 2 years ago
Hmmmm Thanks. I will check into it. \,,/
warmachine169 2 years ago
@chriscoooley About $345 in Canada for the desktop, and $450 for the "Live" (floorboard model).
