  • Last time I was there, they had one of these at the New York-New York Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. They were still charging 4 tokens or quarters for the pilot and an additional 2 for the gunner, and I think 2 quarters to continue. I do fucking hate it when they charge over a dollar to play outdated arcade machines that have been in seen a good 15 years of service already, but this game is probably worth it.

  • I played this at pizza planet in disney.

  • I fucking love how the music actually sounds real rather than some cheap half-assed chiptune.

It makes me want to hunt down an arcade that still has this to play.

  • Uh oh. Dude is wearing a helmet. NERD ALERT!

  • STAYYYYYY ON TARRRGET!!!

  • i used to play the star wars arcade when i was a kid. i want to buy one of the systems. how much would that be?

  • They are working on making this for MAME.

  • Please don't tell me you bought this from Disney World. I'd be so jealous. :P

  • this game was awesome

  • rare enough 4 Ytube

  • 3:02 killed R2

  • This game looks fun even compared to new ones

  • I wish this was on xbla or psn. At least even wiiware! I have this on 32x but that's not good enough this game is great!

  • What's with the helmet? Surely DisneyLand employees were concerned when you got on this thing... or did you actually but it? If so, I'm super-jealous!

  • cool bananas

  • I'm terribly saddened by the voice-over quality... overall, that looks like a pretty badass game.

  • Dear Santa... FUCK!! Too late =(

  • is that a projector or a monitor?

  • DUDE.....was that guy wearing a pilots helmet <.< :P

  • OMG that is just SO EPIC!!!!!!! i really wish i had one of those!!!!

  • This used to be in an arcade behind the Moon Light in Tenerife, right next to Time Crisis 1. I went to Tenerife alot as a kid and so i mastered both games. But now their gone and I havent been there for years.

  • I remember this game.

  • I played this in a second showing movie theater back in '86. I've been a gamer ever since. Thanks for posting and good work finding a working cabinet or fixing this up! I'm now going to sulk in jealousy. lol

  • i have this for my sega 32x

  • hey dude listen there is no good rom dump of this and im pretty sure if u made 1 from yours it might work well dude if you know how to make a rom dump im sure could work maby .we'd all appreciate it highly thanks

  • How I'd love to own this machine if I had a bigger enough space.

  • This game still looks amazing considering the fact there was no texture mapping on the 3D models. I haven't seen one of these cabs in 15 years now, i sure miss it.

  • This reminds me of Starblade.

  • why was this not released on a console? It was great in the arcades!!

  • @agfagaevart Do you really think THAT would have run on a Mega Drive or SNES?

  • Did I mention any of THOSE consoles, dummy???

  • @agfagaevart I was about to respond that those were the only consoles that there were and call you a pooface. But after doing some research, I found out that there actually WAS a console port of this game, and it was for the Mega Drive 32x add-on. And apparently it sucked compared to the arcade. It seems that the best Star Wars games of the day were actually on PC (X-Wing series) and a bit later the N64 (Rogue Squadron).

So I demand you retract your calls of dummy immediately, sir!

  • Star Wars Arcade was released on the 32 Megadrive, but it wasn't the same game as Star Wars ARCADE. The graphics for the time were excellent!!

You'll be waiting for a retraction until the Gundaarcs come home!!

  • @agfagaevart O-ho! But circumstantial facts beg to differ! First, KLOV lists this very arcade as from 1993 and made by Sega. Second, mobygames lists "Star Wars Arcade" on the 32x as a game from 1994, made by Sega, and filed under "Coin-Op Conversion". Accordingly Wikipedia reports on both games on their "Star Wars Arcade" article ("Cabinet: Deluxe sit down with rear-projection monitor" - it's this one).

The gameplay is very similar although the graphics and the sound are really reduced on 32x.

  • Ooh!! You're such a NERD!!

I bet you have jedi costume on while typing those answers...Heh heee!

  • @agfagaevart Damnit, bested again ...

  • This seems like a whoppin' good old gaming experience. All that's missing is the feel and smell of dingy cigarette butts under the sneakers.

  • This reminds me of StarBlade.

  • where is this game at? I would travel to check it out...

  • This IS, and i repeat: IS "Star Wars: Arcade" for the Sega Genisis 32x. I own the console game and moved my PC to my TV's side and compared the two. The Arcade version has a very very slight touch smoother graphics. The audio is identical: The part @ the first where Adm Ackbar says: "Wipe out all enemy fighters" is even the same!!!

Talk about recycling for added profits without any additional work. I think Sega made the 32x specifically to run the software to try to make a quick extra buck!!

  • My brother got on the last stage of this game but lost. Poor guy!

  • i remember playing this in arcades.....good times

  • mannn this looks so fun

  • WIPE OUT ENEMY FIGHTERS

  • As a kid, I always thought he said "Wipe up..."

  • "That's no moon, it's a space station!"

  • "That's no moon! It's

    Wikipedia!"

  • that's no moon. That is SPARTA!!

  • And I thought the 32x version was awesome...

  • good as

  • Sega was and will always be the arcade masters. I <3 U SEGA!!

  • @ernestoperelez I agree, except now they are the "redemption" arcade masters. At least here in the states anyway. Somehow they think there is no arcade market left here anymore. I say that's a load of shenanigans! Arcade games in Japan have always been more innovative and anything that does make it here gets severely "watered down".

  • @ernestoperelez Every arcade game I see in Dave & Busters is made by Sega HOTD 1,2,3,4 Let's Go Jungle Top Skater Rambo Ghost Squad Daytona USA L.A Machine Guns The Lost World Jurassic Park (The 1997 version) Confidential Mission Virtua Tennis 3 Scud Race Derby Owners Club (Horse racing game) Manx TT Superbike Harley Davidson: King of the Road Star Wars Trilogy Arcade
  • @ernestoperelez yup sega and capcom dominated the market easily no question. sigh if only I could afford these kinds of things .

  • looks good, i wish the camera was a lil closer to the screen, but oh well, thanks for the video, where did you play this, that's cool theres some still out in arcades, cool helmet by the way, heh

  • wish i could get this... 32X version sux

  • The guy who played the game in this video dresses as a Rebel pilot.

  • Wow, I wonder why so many people playing this game in single player takes position as a pilot instead of a gunner. (As they sit in player 2 area instead of player 1)

  • My movie theater has this, or something very similar.

  • This game is from 1994, this is the first time I´ve seen the Arcade version. MY JAW JUST FELL ON THE FLOOR! WOW!!!

  • hahahah is that dude WEARING A STAR WARS HELMET

  • i remember hearing bout this at the time, but never saw it come, it breaks my heart

  • sega genesis 32x also runs it

  • This game shits all over the 32X version.

  • @Da1shocker Ja.

  • @Da1shocker Dude, that looks identical to the 32X version.

  • @BLEAHGames124365

I 'member seeing this in the arcades!

Neeed to go buy meself a 32X 2nd hand eh?

  • The sound is better in the arcade cabinet than the 32X version...makes me want to find one of these and play on it.

  • I found a ROM of it recently.

  • Oh? Share?

  • The 32X version was based on the arcade game, not the other way around.

The Sega Model 1 system used to make this game was cutting edge, at the time. It was filled with DSP chips, and Sega were assisted in their design by Lockheed Martin, who used their military simulator expertise.

What's impressive is that Sega managed to make a game that looked even remotely similar on the comparatively underpowerd 32X.

  • lol no freinds to play it with

  • Well yes, it could be much more fun if everyone plays it in multiplayer.

  • Seriously, who the fuck EVER completed that mission? I had the SEGA 32X at home and never got it.

  • It's not "Star Wars Cockpit"...it's called "Star Wars Arcade." And this video, unfortunately, sucks. I'd rather watch the screen, and not some dude's shoulder.

  • Shame there isn't a proper (=3D accelerated) program to emulate it.

  • we play the starwars song in band...

  • you know this game was released on home systems. Its just called "Star Wars" for the sega 32x. from the look of this version, the graphics or gameplay have no difference.

  • is this on mame?

is it on any other emulator?

    please help

  • One of these would make my house a home. Only problem is, probably would have to take out a second mortgage on the house to find/buy one of these puppies. =(

  • SEGA Is a Japanese company. Japan rocks!!!!! If you think this info is false. Please reply back. Thank You! =)

  • This wasn't that rare, at least in the UK. I saw a few of them.

  • yea theres like 3 in my city that i know of

  • Wow, I think I played that game at an amusement park! I played with my friend, he was the pilot, and I helped. How did you get your hands on this? Or you don't own this simulator?

  • looks cool, only problem is...

you said in the description, you pilot an x-wing, and your friend mans the gunner....

at the risk of being a starwars nerd...the x-wing was a single seater, onlt the snoe speeder had a gunner didn't it?

anyway, wish i could've played this...

  • y-wing has a gunner two right. U can download the 32x port and play it through emulation if u want. Then again, xwing is way better, at least this game has 2 player support

  • didn't the y-wing have a gunner? i might be wrong so dont quote me on that.

  • not really an expert, but i think the x wing, y wing and all the others were single seaters

the only one with a gunner was the snowspeeder (i only know this because rouge squadron was the only decent star wars game on gamecube lol)

  • The BTL-S3 was a two-man strike fighter, and was the most common Y-wing configuration. The weapons systems officer typically operated the ion cannon turret when needed.

  • sorry...i dont really get into this kinda stuff...

i just watch the movies, play a few games and make some lego lol

  • In the movies the y wing was a single seater. however i saw some concept art for star wars and sure enough i was a y wing with a gunner.

  • yes but that doesnt make it true

the whole point of concert art is to show you the concept of the original ideas...

and if they were single seaters in the movie...then they are single seaters...not really arguable

  • i agree with you. however im sure you have seen things in movies that dont match up with lets say the novel. for example in 2001 a space odyssey, the novel takes place in orbit of saturn. however the movie made it in orbit of jupiter because they couldn't make saturns rings realistic enough at the time. I havent read any star wars books so i dont know. i was just throwing an idea out. peace.

  • what...space odyssey? were not talking about space odyssey...

and why does it matter how many guns a ship that was hardly shown in the movie atall has?

  • lol take a deep breath bro :) its an example of how a movie is diffrent from a novel. and i agree theirs no real point in arguing about how many guns an imaginary space ship has. I just saw the convo below. thought id put my two cents in. Now if u dont read books and base everything off of movies i can understand why u dont see what im talking about.

  • well seeing as the original was a movie theres not much point

  • the original movie was based off a series of books. hence why the original star wars is episode 4. it was the fourth book in the series. You'll see what im talking about next time u watch it. when all those words go zooming past the screen at the very top it will say episode 4 a new hope. yeah im a geek :) peace.

  • Grooveclubhouse - star wqars is a film, not based on a book. the 1977 Film was called Star Wars, then only later subtitled ep.IV a new hope in keeping with the idea of the backstory of a bigger concept. (early 80s, cant rememebr when) But it all came from a treatment meant for a TV serial, that became an idea for a film. Poking my nose in when its not needed. But NOT based of a series of books, there is now a series of books based of IT.

  • ok i see where there is some confusion. turns out that the original movie was being produced at the same time the book was made. the book got out before the movie. but originally it was always intended as a movie. so I yeah i guess it was technically the movie that came out that inspired the series of books. just that the 1st book based off the movie got out first.

  • @grooveclubhouse funny, you must be a young kid. when star wars originally came out it didn't say episode 4. lucas added that later just like all the stuff he adds nowadays...

  • born in the 80's... my first star wars was on VHS tape and i wondered as a kid "Where the hell is parts 1, 2, and 3." Sooo i assumed (quite wrongly) that it was taken from a series of books and the original movie just picked up at part 4. but thanks to this thread i stand corrected, and apologize to all true star wars fans for my incompetence in the matter. (beat that apology tiger!) lol

  • thats cool man, we all forgive you :)

  • Nice helmet!

  • Awesome!! Looks really good for a 1994 released Star Wars arcade game!
