hello, your videos are great, keep the dog videos coming please. about the text messages, i just do not see the point of spending a lot of time making them instead of just make a call. if it is only for a 2 o3 question conversation such as "where the are the car keys?", "yeah they are in the kitchen table" or something like that ,ok. but more than that is just a waste of time ,at least it is to me... i don't know you guys...

I love to text! It is a method of communication that I can use with immediate results.. Whereas conventional methods of communication tend to become "muddy" with other bits of information.
That's what I'm wondering. Texting bugs me too but I have found the practical applications to it in the army. Cause you can get quick answers without all the need to carry on a conversation. But as for just texting only what a pain in the butt. I'd rather talk on my blue tooth than have my eyes glued to my screen for a minute or two.

Maybe post a FAQ's tutorial and refer your happy fans to view your youtube. Slap the web address on a business card and pass them out.

Hey, I know your more than likley busy and everything but I was wondering if you could help. It's not that it's a problem, but my dog gets over-excited weather its food or walks or if someone walks into the house that he recognises. He jumps and barks and if he doesn't get what he wants fast then he starts to whimper and then bark. How do I calm him down during these moments?
And I prefer text, it's faster, cheaper and you can cram as much as you want in.

Text messaging is less personal, and as such, you're more likely to communicate the truth with no regard to the consequences. Since text has no real emotion, it is often easier to communicate via text messages or IM because it shows no real vulnerability.
Text messaging is way less committal. If I just want to say 'hey I'll be 5 minutes late' it makes no sense to have to have an entire conversation. Or if you want to say something about someone that's with you right then...well..much better in text!! :)
Oh, and in reply to your question at the end: I prefer text messaging. It's quick and to the point if you don't want to carry on a long, drawn-out conversation. Or if you just want to give quick instructions to other people on how to do something, even when you're busy and can't really talk. But, that's just me. Or if you just want to say hi, how are ya, to someone you haven't spoken to in a while lol

about your last question - about the text vs. talk. i prefer to text via mail online or phone because i am a very timid person and feel uncomfortable when people can hear me. plus texting allows time to think, erase, and even to not reply to avoid bad mistakes when communicating.
Comment-I do not know why people prefer to text over talk. It doesn't make any sense to me. I also wanted to say that you are a great dog trainer and I don't think the percentage of your dog catching the frisbees mattered as much as anything else. I hope to see more of your videos!
I'm sorry you're stressed over viewer demands. I find it enjoyable to just check in when I can and see how you're doing. I'm a dog fanatic and of course I love the dogs, but to subscribe to a video vlogger means you accept the vids for what they are. We aren't paying you to entertain us so it's not up to us to tell you what to put up on YT.
Texting... MMM.... I dunno I think our generation is becoming more and more afraid of confrontation no matter how passive it is.. and texting and MSN allow people to respond at the pace they want and removes any stress they may have got from not having something smart or funny to come back with.. I dunno.. just a thought...
I see my 19 yr old son undergoing a lot of stress from his online relationships (local kids that he also meets realtime). He had a panic attack yesterday over being dumped by a girl in IM. She reacted irrationally to something he said without asking for clarification & really misjudged him. So, I'd say texting and IM is no way to avoid stress.

I am a texty person, though I don't text on cell phones. It engages a different part of the brain and is satisfying for texters. I guess it is a bit like training and performing with animals though, if you don't get it, there doesn't seem to be any reason to do it. Well, except for the fun and the energy. Thanks to you and your dog for some spritely energy for my flagging afternoon.
Your video was great, I remember seeing this on TV, I watch all the dog shows. Please check out my Border Collie called "Tucker the amazing Border Collie" and check out his some of his tricks and give me a response as to what you think. He has hip dysplasia and I will not let him do any jumps like. He loves to play frisbee and catch and would be great at it I just don't throw them high. Thanks and keep up the videos.
I can get dogs to sit, down, wait, etc easily but how the hell do you get a dog to... anyway - I'm guessing that only Border Collies have the brains for this kind of stuff?

I prefer to talk on the phone. I wish my dog could do those types of tricks, but he's blind and very old - going through the geriatric stage of life, but he takes it all in his stride, he's my role model.

I have to admit, the first vid of your I saw, I was sceptical (sp?) of if someone as young as you could realy be a legitimate dog trainer, but after seeing that video of you and your dog WOW, I can't believe you only got third! As for the texting thing, well it depens, if I know the person, I'd like to have a real conversation, but if it's someone I don't realy know, I feel more comortable txting.
You're an excellent dog trainer but from watching your videos there's so much more to you than just that. You're a very interesting person with some awesome communication skills! By the way, I like to text but prefer to use the phone and talk... it's cheaper and a better way to understand what exactly someone is saying (tone of voice, etc.)

Zak please keep on with the dog videos - love all your videos, but we are passionate about dogs too (specially Border Collies) so we can't have too many dog videos. Prefer to talk rather than text - text is ok when you are in a hurry and only have a little to say, but when I want to chat, I prefer to talk!! Hug the dogs for us and keep on with your videos - no matter what!!!
I loved watching the frisbee competition it was great! Text messeging not so much. I love dogs too! We have two, one of our daughters has one dog, the other has two, and her inlaws have have dogs in their family too. I like to talk on the phone because it's much more personable, but for me, text messaging is 5 times cheaper than making phone calls because I have "pay as you go" rather than a regular plan. It's 25 cents a minute for phone calls and 5 cents per text message.
Zak you have a great speaking voice. Feel free to ramble. Talk talk talk an talk some more. You do not have to augment your persona with the dogs in every video. I'm not complaining about the dog videos, they're great but some of your most interesting videos are ones with no dogs

I do think it is a cool idea, and I guess it works for some people, but I must be the slowest texter ever. I could be done with an entire converstation, before I could finish a sentence texting.

Do NOT enjoy talking on the phone. HATE cell phones and hope I never have to get one (have to use one for work occasionally and really resent it)... actually, I'm not that into having a land line, either, but my mother went crazy for the 6 months or so that I didn't have a phone a few years back. She's 86 now, and once she's gone so likely will the phone be.

If I can email or text I usually do. I prefer speaking to friends in person than over the telephone. I'm a very visual person, so maybe that's why. Anyway, I hope you're having a wonderful summer! hmm, i think people want to text and email better than phones is that... maybe they dont like their voice? i dunno, or maybe... they dont always know what to say, where you can think more before you type anything.
I dont usually comment but I did this time in regards to your question about texting. I strongly prefer texting over any other method of communication because it can be done at any time, for no extra cost if you get unlimited. I live about 14 hours away from my girlfriend, I'm in the military and posted away from home. Texting is the easiest solution, I can stay in touch with her at all hours of the day, as well as any body else I want to talk to...
This competition video is the best I've seen on your channel. It was from start to finish -- the whole routine. It was amazing. More more more! Even if it is old footage.
Thanks for posting that old competition video, it's amazing to know that as great as that was, you've only gotten better. Superstar gets you cheers every time, I see. As for text messaging, I don't like the phone texting much, but I like talking to certain people and typing to others. Some people are just easier to talk, others prefer the typing, so I just go with what the other is better at.
Hey Zak, I think all your videos are entertaining, regardless of what new formats and discussion topics you come up with. That TV-broadcast dog video was awesome by the way. I think my favorite videos you make are the ones where you walk around with your camera video-taping real life with strangers and your friends... and then the cut-aways to your facial expressions to various things they say. i love to txt other people with my phone. i don't really know why...i just find that most of the time it can be more flexible. i don't have to reply right away, i can think about what i want to say, and what if i'm already busy and get the message later? no biggie. what if i'm in the shower? i like to have that "buffer." great video, you are my number one favorite zak!
I do not prefer to text. On your videos: I think the reason you have so many hits on some is because "non-subscribers" are finding them. I think you should consider how it's rated, favortied, etc. Example: some people will use unrelated tag words and thumbnail pics just to get a higher view count, but then you see low ratings & hate comments. Something to think about, but I'm sure you already know.
Personally, there might have been 1 video of yours that I've watched that I didn't enjoy, and if there is, I can't think of it. So make what you like, though I do enjoy the dogs. As for texting vs. talking. I don't text, but I do prefer email to the phone just because it allows me to put my thoughts together before opening my mouth.
I agree with a couple of other commentors ... make the VBlog to your liking ... you are the entertainer here. That way, we viewers will be able to see various '`sides' of you.
I've never texted ... and I prefer one on one. That way conversatons are less likely to be misunderstood.
You would make a nice 'host' on Stickam ... although, Stickam could be quite time consuming.

Oh, and in reply to your question at the end: I prefer text messaging. It's quick and to the point if you don't want to carry on a long, drawn-out conversation. Or if you just want to give quick instructions to other people on how to do something, even when you're busy and can't really talk. But, that's just me. Or if you just want to say hi, how are ya, to someone you haven't spoken to in a while lol

hello. i watched your video. that was you out there? that was awesome. really. you looked like you and your dog were really enjoying yourselves; and, to me, thats all that should matter.
about your last question - about the text vs. talk. i prefer to text via mail online or phone because i am a very timid person and feel uncomfortable when people can hear me. plus texting allows time to think, erase, and even to not reply to avoid bad mistakes when communicating.

I'm sorry you're stressed over viewer demands. I find it enjoyable to just check in when I can and see how you're doing. I'm a dog fanatic and of course I love the dogs, but to subscribe to a video vlogger means you accept the vids for what they are. We aren't paying you to entertain us so it's not up to us to tell you what to put up on YT.

Texting... MMM.... I dunno I think our generation is becoming more and more afraid of confrontation no matter how passive it is.. and texting and MSN allow people to respond at the pace they want and removes any stress they may have got from not having something smart or funny to come back with.. I dunno.. just a thought...

I see my 19 yr old son undergoing a lot of stress from his online relationships (local kids that he also meets realtime). He had a panic attack yesterday over being dumped by a girl in IM. She reacted irrationally to something he said without asking for clarification & really misjudged him. So, I'd say texting and IM is no way to avoid stress.

I am a texty person, though I don't text on cell phones. It engages a different part of the brain and is satisfying for texters. I guess it is a bit like training and performing with animals though, if you don't get it, there doesn't seem to be any reason to do it. Well, except for the fun and the energy. Thanks to you and your dog for some spritely energy for my flagging afternoon.

Your video was great, I remember seeing this on TV, I watch all the dog shows. Please check out my Border Collie called "Tucker the amazing Border Collie" and check out his some of his tricks and give me a response as to what you think. He has hip dysplasia and I will not let him do any jumps like. He loves to play frisbee and catch and would be great at it I just don't throw them high. Thanks and keep up the videos.

I prefer to talk on the phone. I wish my dog could do those types of tricks, but he's blind and very old - going through the geriatric stage of life, but he takes it all in his stride, he's my role model.

I have to admit, the first vid of your I saw, I was sceptical (sp?) of if someone as young as you could realy be a legitimate dog trainer, but after seeing that video of you and your dog WOW, I can't believe you only got third! As for the texting thing, well it depens, if I know the person, I'd like to have a real conversation, but if it's someone I don't realy know, I feel more comortable txting.

You're an excellent dog trainer but from watching your videos there's so much more to you than just that. You're a very interesting person with some awesome communication skills! By the way, I like to text but prefer to use the phone and talk... it's cheaper and a better way to understand what exactly someone is saying (tone of voice, etc.)

Zak please keep on with the dog videos - love all your videos, but we are passionate about dogs too (specially Border Collies) so we can't have too many dog videos. Prefer to talk rather than text - text is ok when you are in a hurry and only have a little to say, but when I want to chat, I prefer to talk!! Hug the dogs for us and keep on with your videos - no matter what!!!

I loved watching the frisbee competition it was great! Text messeging not so much. I love dogs too! We have two, one of our daughters has one dog, the other has two, and her inlaws have have dogs in their family too. I'm kinda new to youtube and your vids, but I would like to know about getting the doggies to get along. My doggie sheperd mix doesnt seem to like labs.

I know i dont comment a lot but i do always appreciate them :) I perfer to text msg IF it's like a one time hey this is the info no need to reply less then 5 txt msgs needed thing otherwise i perfer to call someone. Txt msgs can be so easily mis-interpreted tone wise... anyways thats my opinion :) please keep the vid's coming maybe soon i can get more of mine up..

I like to talk on the phone because it's much more personable, but for me, text messaging is 5 times cheaper than making phone calls because I have "pay as you go" rather than a regular plan. It's 25 cents a minute for phone calls and 5 cents per text message.

I love watching Venus perform, she is soooo cool. I hadn't realized how much I missed seeing your dogs. On the subject of texting, I'm not a fan. I do think it is a cool idea, and I guess it works for some people, but I must be the slowest texter ever. I could be done with an entire converstation, before I could finish a sentence texting.

HATE cell phones and hope I never have to get one (have to use one for work occasionally and really resent it)... actually, I'm not that into having a land line, either, but my mother went crazy for the 6 months or so that I didn't have a phone a few years back. She's 86 now, and once she's gone so likely will the phone be.

I dont usually comment but I did this time in regards to your question about texting. I strongly prefer texting over any other method of communication because it can be done at any time, for no extra cost if you get unlimited. I live about 14 hours away from my girlfriend, I'm in the military and posted away from home. Texting is the easiest solution, I can stay in touch with her at all hours of the day, as well as any body else I want to talk to...

Thanks for posting that old competition video, it's amazing to know that as great as that was, you've only gotten better. Superstar gets you cheers every time, I see. As for text messaging, I don't like the phone texting much, but I like talking to certain people and typing to others. Some people are just easier to talk, others prefer the typing, so I just go with what the other is better at.

Hey Zak, I think all your videos are entertaining, regardless of what new formats and discussion topics you come up with. That TV-broadcast dog video was awesome by the way. I think my favorite videos you make are the ones where you walk around with your camera video-taping real life with strangers and your friends... and then the cut-aways to your facial expressions to various things they say. It's hilarious.

I do not prefer to text. On your videos: I think the reason you have so many hits on some is because "non-subscribers" are finding them. I think you should consider how it's rated, favortied, etc. Example: some people will use unrelated tag words and thumbnail pics just to get a higher view count, but then you see low ratings & hate comments. Something to think about, but I'm sure you already know.

Personally, there might have been 1 video of yours that I've watched that I didn't enjoy, and if there is, I can't think of it. So make what you like, though I do enjoy the dogs. I agree with a couple of other commentors ... make the VBlog to your liking ... you are the entertainer here. That way, we viewers will be able to see various '`sides' of you.
I've never texted ... and I prefer one on one. That way conversatons are less likely to be misunderstood.
You would make a nice 'host' on Stickam ... although, Stickam could be quite time consuming.
