  • Hello... I'm Indonesian...

    so proudly for your visit

  • woah! the photographer guy in the gray shirts legs are huge!!

  • damn all they do is smoke weed Im moving there

  • fuck it, you gotta love this proyect

  • Joey you are so awesome, outstanding photos... these are what the real photographs all about... thank you for documenting and reserving the Mentawai Tribe

  • I don't know why people are saying your not ment to light the subjects your ment to use natural light. Did these people write a book on what you can and can't do in photography. Do whatever the fuck you want, it's an art you stupid cunts

  • what happened to natural lighting? why drag this huge soft box?

  • @genepulse you must not be a photographer if you have to ask this

  • His work is stunning, but I just can't agree with him posing the Mentawai people for his shots. Things like this are supposed to be natural and shot how the people really are.

  • i need to know the local people who can help to go there, im from indonesian and is very interested in taking pictorial of our endangered culture. thankyou.

  • @TheEdojohanes

Please contact Joey Lawrence on his blog (see web site address in our video description)

  • whoaa, you came to Indonesia? i'm from there :D

  • Amazing video. I'm so glad I happen to stumble upon this video, I will follow your artwork, it's truly amazing

  • 3.41min looks like a gigantic softbox with a huuuge amount of light! Love that look!

  • Poor assistant. He's too tired.

  • Love Joey's work. He is such an awesome photographer with tons of range.

  • My friend and I have always admired Joey, he is a true talent :)

  • Funny that many doesn't know who he is and think they know better and which gears are more suitable. Trolls.

  • фото супер.....

  • There is no way you gonna get these shots on a 5d mark II

  • I probably would of shot this on a Rangefinder M6 or M9.

  • resell all the equipment, take a 5dII - resolution is lower, but i mean, where's the sense of building a studio somewhere in the pampas?! take the 5dII and pics can also be lots better...

  • He's shots are really great, but there's only one question in my head... Where did this guy found the money for all the equipment he has?

  • @hajlomi He does a ton of commercial projects, bands, etc. He makes a grip of money. Not to mention when your selling your tutorial vids for 300 bucks along with it, shouldnt be hard. He does ALOT of work, and camera companies are on his jock.

  • @xXTigerArmyXx @hajlomi I think PhaseOne may have given him a camera for the trip.

  • @hajlomi uhm... try being a professional photographer...

  • Obviously ~ this is 645af~

  • nice, good idea to explore the culture of Mentawai... and nice stuff (phase one)... :)

    i am indonesian too...

  • what happens if they drop the battery pack while they are in the water?

  • holy fuck! i'm only a month older than him!!

  • these photos are hauntingly beautiful!

  • -What are you doing?

    -I ran out of pants...

-No, I meant what are you DOING...?

    lol

  • @ArtificialProjection yeah just so cute!

  • That thing about the young people is so sad. They're losing their culture just like the rest of the world.

  • the pictures are very beauriful, thanks to that umbrella thing

  • cultural voyeurism at its finest. they went to have those old colonial feel. the pictures look more "anthropoligical" with damn near zero artistic flair. and they have been heavily processed in the digital darkroom.

  • Diffidently wouldn't be my choice of camera to trek through the jungle. With low iso, the weight issue and the back not being weather sealed = not a good idea for a $30 000 set up!

  • @birdflu You can't tell me that if you werent paying for the camera, had a backup in the van and were travelling to ethiopia you wouldn't be using it ;-)

  • it's so beautiful.

with what camera the video was shot?

  • i'm big fans of joey l in indonesia. i hope i can go to mentawai soon as possible :)
