Joey Pants deserved that award. He owned the character Ralph like a champ and he is a very talented actor in general.

All the other actresses probably hated Edie Falco because she kept winning the awards. 3 consecutive wins? Damn impressive! I hated the character Carmela, but I always loved watching her because Falco was just brilliant.

She sounds like an intelligent and very sweet woman in real life, too! (:

It's fun and fascinating to see Falco being starstruck by Helen Mirren - if you refer back to the groundbreaking Prime Suspect, Mirren's character Jane Tennison really opened the door for gritty, multi dimensional female characters on television... and Edie's Carmela Soprano is a direct beneficiary of this character. How great it would be to see Mirren and Falco act together one day.

Both were going through nasty contract negotiations at the time and wanted more money from their respective shows, or threatened to quit. Garret made a joke about it that night that would be deemed the more memorable, and the press would write more about his contract squabble than Gandolfini's.

So that's what he was referring to, the press now ignoring his contract squabble and going right to Garret's with Everybody Loves Raymond.

I have such a love/hate feeling towards HBO.
