I wouldn't normally recommend it for such large works as yours, but double-sided tape works great for holding small parts. I always cut full outline, without any bridges or what you call those joints holding the material. With my part taped to the table from the bottom, there are no worries it will move. Just use a good waterproof tape for carpeting, TESA is a good supplier of those, if they sell out there in America. You will be surprised how strong those are. It is painful to stick to it.

@whitehedr I will do better next time. My double stick tape is old and doesn't hold well. It's on my shopping list. I hope to post an update soon on the home/limits. The Y is done and the Z is half done.
