this is cute...i have never had a pitbull but i have had 4 shcnauzers...they are amazing dogs too....big cuddlers....Annie Oakley lived until she was 17...Shatzie lived until 14...annie had cancer and one day she had a seizure and we put her down....Shatzie had cancer too and just stopped eating for to days....we still have cuddled who is 12....glucosmine and baby aspirn for her now....so cute...and then there is bella who is 2 and keeps cuddles on her toes!

@MultiWafflePwnage actually, no, they weren't. That's a common misconception. They were bred to bull bait, thus the name bull in most of the bully breeds. The American Pit Bull Terrier, this is no such thing as a pit bull, fyi, was derived from the Amstaff, and as such was bred as a working class, bull and cow wrangling dog, they're very stubborn and the reason they have such strong jaws is for when they bite they won't let go until the farmer gets there.

@MultiWafflePwnage and, also, like someone else said, when they were indeed introduced to dog fighting just as the breed was being fully shaped, any dog that showed ANY aggression whatsoever to a human was put down. They were bred to be incredibly people friendly, otherwise they would be considered a detriment to the breed. They're strong. They're loyal. They're not for everyone and they're incredibly high energy. Look up Sgt. Stubby, the APT was the national dog during WW1 and 2.

My suggestion regarding raising a good tempered pit bull is the same as with any other dog. Socialize, socialize, socialize. Dogs are companion animals so take them everywhere with you. Daily playdates are good too. Tired dogs don't get in trouble! Be firm, fair and consistent with any dog.

I have a Min. Schnauzer...and really want a Pit..i wasn't sure if it would be smart to try to get one, being worried on how they would react...but seeing this gives me a little confident that it can work!

i have a mini schnauzer she is 3 years old, and i rescued a pitbull about 1 1/2 months old. they love each other, and play all day long!! they've never fight, and respect each other. now the pitbull is sooooo big, and the schnauzer takes care of her... lol. i trained the pit, just as i did with the schanuzer, not even playing i let them bite me or anyone else, just say no!!! big voice loud, at every little bite. thats it. have a good time with your dogs!!1
