@verniermoontech I agree. I got to this by listening to a welsh male voice choir singing this.Ive got two sons and ones been in the Royal Navy and was in Iraq. He's back and in the merchant navy now. To lose your children must be the worst pain. This song just brings emotions to the fore.
@turkey08041954 Make sure you tell your son thank you from the U.S. A veteran is a vetreran, no matter what country. Sincere blessings on all of you and the U.K. for their help and support in the effort to unchain those who can't do it for themselves.
I love the spirit in which this arrangement was presented. To find a 300 voice choir with the amazing discipline and emotion for such a piece would be rare. Anyone listening with their heart knows that it was sung with reverence for what the composer intended. Give credit where credit is due to the little 'community choir'.
@EstrellaRode I know, and have worked with, Claude Michel Schoenberg, the composer of this piece, so I feel I know a bit about his (& Herbert Kretzmer's) original intention regarding Bring Him Home. I am confident that, whilst Claude Michel would admire the wonderful singing from the choir, he wouldn't care for this particular arrangement. My reservation about the arrangement (let's agree to differ on it ) does not lessen my admiration for the MT Choir, or any other wonderful community choir.
Beautiful, beautiful singing from the gentlemen of the choir. Sadly, I feel the slightly 'Hollywood' arrangement and the conductor's erratic tempo-shifts betray the simplicity and sincerity that are the heart of this piece.
@vertason If you can do it better, maybe you could go and audition to take the director's place. I think they are amazing! Another thing, they are not paid to do this, they do it because they love to sing and they uplift the spirit of anyone that listens to their music....
I aspire to join this choir someday. No choir in existence is more blessed with talent or strength than the Mormon Tabernacle Choir. Thank you for sharing this video :)
God Bless the MTC! What a fabulous sound!

Beautiful. Makes me think of my three sons and how I'd lay down my life for them.

Oh, imagine the number of fathers and sons in the choir whose sons and fathers never came home from war...
