As good as this is, it'll be a monster with the finishing touches a la give up the ghost and mousebirddog/separator studio versions. Here's hoping they do it!
this version is MILLIONS WAYS BETTER than the studio one. We have been waiting for the new album and these other studio stuff, but for nothing. I hate all that elect, there is no guitar, no real piano. Please Thom, give us a better work..
@axecold That's a very close minded view, the only songs on TKOL that don't use either guitar or piano are Bloom and Feral and Bloom has bass which isn't a six string but it's still a guitar.
@jirdimaster excuse me, but how is that a close minded view?? i mean, i'm a fan of radiohead and i actually have traveled to see them live, but God help me if i ever loose my right to dislike something. I mean even the beatles had crappy songs (nobody likes "don't pass me by"). Not that it's not good music but Radiohead could've done so much better and you know it. By the way, did you remember this Jhonny Greenwood guy? he was like a guitar hero and i can't hear him in this fuckin album.
@seiter13 Uh ya closed minded, you have closed your mind to music that doesn't involve guitar and piano like you said in your previous comment, that is the definition of closed mindedness lol anyway Jonny Greenwood did play in TKOL, you were just to busy pining for Ok Computer and The Bends to hear it, guitar is dead, it's been used to hell and i'm sick of it, Radiohead is sick of it, and plenty of other people are sick of it.
@jirdimaster So you don't listen to rock music anymore, 'cause you are sick of guitars right? well maybe you are right after all, radiohead has grown old and their fanatics are decided to follow them to death and you are sick of your past and are trying to evolve. as for me...fuck the future. i'm recording guitar music now! i mean, if nobody wants to do it for me anymore. you should not check my channel. it has a song i made...with guitars in it
@seiter13 I started listening to Radiohead 2 or 3 years ago, so i already had this huge spectrum of music to chose from and i loved every different sound they managed to come up with, i wasn't listening to them during the Ok Computer era so i never got hung up on it, ya it was a really good album but it had huge flaws, their albums have gotten progressively better since.
@jirdimaster I would agree with you mostly, but one thing I think "you might be wrong" on: the guitars. Have you noticed that just only a handful of songs didn't feature guitar recently from them? Those would be Sit Down Stand Up, Backdrifts, The Gloaming, Myxomatosis, Videotape, Bloom, and Feral. I believe I've heard guitar in just about every song from them recently. But that's just me, and I can respect your opposing opinion. :P
@StaticBunnyStudios You're absolutely right, i must have forgotten to point that out that even though most of their songs are layered with electronics almost all of them still have guitar and piano, but for the most part i'm sick of the "rock" sound itself.
@jirdimaster I enjoy both classic and modern Radiohead myself. If you don't like the rock sound, that's all fine. But I have to say their music doesn't get progressively better, to me it stays progressively great. I mean here and "there there" are some songs I really enjoy and some songs I just can't listen to on the get go. Like, for example, I really like Dollars and Cents, and then I always skip Hunting Bears afterwards. Supercollider is great both live and in the studio, but that's just me.
Hi, Today Supercollider studio version is now avaliable in shop, but i think that this version is better than studio rec, that we wait for a long time. Could you put this file on P2P please? It would be really important for me. If you prefer i give you my personal mail.Thank you.
@jhonrobertc Unfortunately i don't have this on my comp anymore but there are plenty of youtube downloaders online, just cut the URL and paste into one and it'll let you chose the format you want to download it in.
every time i think i'm going to super-pissed when they take heartbreaking thom yorke piano ballads and turn them into futuristic robot laments but somehow they pull it off every god damn time
this is like watching the growth a fetus in its purest form, When we here the final adult version of this song in their next album it will be explosive! It still blows my mind that they record their songs and let them evolve over time. Nude was made during OK computer, On a side not King of Limbs is only 4 minutes shorter than their shortest album Pablo Honey. This is a complete album there is no TKOL2. And I love it! I love how they weed out the people that just dont get it.
Would anyone be turned off by happier Radiohead lyrics but darker music? Radiohead songs in a deeper lower register. Could that even work? This song actually annoys me. I like Airbag.
@MrReverendgreen The butcher has never been mentioned yet, it may well turn out to be another mouse dog bird => seperator scenario, but fyi the name the butcher has never been used before, if it exists it has a different working title.
I'm looking forward to hearing the studio version of this, though i've got a strong feeling The Butcher will just be a renamed version of The Daily Mail or Judge Jury and Executioner (Both of which I love) Though i'd love it to be The Present Tense...
vocal is so similar to separator in parts. why did they choose to release this and not the present tense.. let's hope 'the butcher' is the present tense
@sicnh4274 The lyrics have the same meaning if you are any good at comprehension. The chord progressions are similar. So same meaning with similar chords on the piano, that' s good enough for me to say that Super Collider turned into Codex.
@jirdimaster Yes, shame on me for presenting an idea. Obviously you can't process an idea that is foreign to you. You're aren't clever either. That's a shame. But thanks for the upload.
@ThomYorkesHead This and Codex are two completely different songs, that was a sad attempt at condescension because if you actually knew anything about music and music theory you'd know there's no way this turned into Codex, i'll bet you anything this will be released as Super Collider in the future.
@ThomYorkesHead Alright, let's use basic logic, different lyrics, different time signature, different chord progression, now explain to me how you think this became Codex.
@jirdimaster haha you're right I was off my rocker. It was just a guess based on a vaguely similar chord progression and the lyrics both being about redemption/finding peace. They have been known to change songs vastly in the past. But you certainly knew better on this one.
I love Radiohead fans and their conspiracy theories...
'Kid A predicts 9/11!'
'OK Computer and In Rainbows form a playlist!'
'The King Of Limbs is a double album!'
Honestly, I think we should just be pleased with what we got, instead of wanting more straight away; The King Of Limbs is a great album in my opinion, even if it their shortest.
That said, this is a beautiful song, as is 'The Daily Mail,' and I'm not going to pretend a second album containing those wouldn't make me very happy...
@jackwearing well no one can predict the future, but to be fair a radiohead rep did confirm the theory that IR and OKC could be played alternately to form one cohesive work
Listened to King Of Limbs 3 times already. Unfortunately this song is not on it but it's stunning nonetheless. Taking into consideration that quite a few Radiohead songs in the past have not found their way onto a studio album until years after they were first played live, it could be several albums away before we can hear a studio version of this song. Or they could have already recorded it in studio and are planning to release it as a B-Side or something.
@BSHFTW Well considering the newspaper album comes with two disks and King of Limbs only has 8 tracks averaging at four minutes and fifty seconds (yes i did the math) then the second disk is likely material we haven't heard yet, and the album ends with "if you think this is over then you're wrong" so maybe King of Limbs is the first part of a two part album, we'll just have to wait and see.
I don't really care if it's a matter of weeks, months or another year when the next Radiohead album is coming out, I just hope it's as brilliant as the last 6.
radiohead have an average 3-year gap between each CD, but the gap's been growing since Ok Computer (4 years between HTTT and In Rainbows)
If the next album comes out in 2011, it'd be a 4-year gap, although i wouldn't be suprised to see it out early 2012, since thom's got Atoms for Peace and Phil's got personnal projects.
well Radiohead laying songs not from albums is nothing new and has never meant that they will be in the new album. They sometimes do buyt most of the times they end up being just beautiful b-sides. also with Thom's Atoms for peace (AKA Eraser band) and Phil's new project it is unlikely that radiohead will be releasing a new album soon.
@mistasliz It's debatable, it could be tomorrow, a month, or next year, there's alot they have to do after the music is finished which isn't even finished yet.
Great song and vocal performance as well. Tom had a bad time during the HTTT era IMO but after In Rainbows the guy is fully recovered. I saw their 2 gigs in Brazil last year. Just amazing.
@mazzycat725 Don't know yet dude, he's been playing it live, we'll have to wait and see if it's going to be on the new album or another Follow Me Around.
Although I love both versions, I think the studio one is an absolute masterpiece.

Great song and vocal performance as well. Tom had a bad time during the HTTT era IMO but after In Rainbows the guy is fully recovered. I saw their 2 gigs in Brazil last year. Just amazing.
