We go hog hunting every spring with the bows and have a ball. The first year I went I got a big boar between 300-350 pounds. As awesome as it was to shoot one that big, I'll be sticking to 50-100 pounders from now on. They are the best size for roasting.
I am not a PETA however I am a tree-hugger and support any anti-cruelty practices while hunting or otherwise - I do have to say this - after what I have seen happens to animals in factory farms and slaughterhouses this here was a mercy killing - if slaughterhouses had glass walls - a lot more people would take up hunting instead of condemning it and labeling it as a blood sport for latent serial killers ....

have you tried a neck shot? If you aim for the spot one inch below the ear, and one inch behind the head, you don't even have to track them, they just drop. We can learn a lot from a lazy hunter=-)

The only restriction is on wildlife management areas, where you have to follow the hunting season and regulations, but if you're on your own private property, or have permission of the land owner, you can pop 'em any day of the year, since they're considered transient livestock. The state doesn't want them to repopulate, cuz they're a destructive nuisance.

@Thespectaculardude Grow up. Feral hogs are one of the biggest threats to farming and natural food sources in the US. They are omnivores that eat anything, plant or animal. They serve no useful purpose besides sport and, for those that enjoy pork, for eating. They need to be exterminated.

betcha that was a bitch to track....shot one with my 52 pound hoyt in the shoulder and i didnt do anything to that sow, sat the same setup next week and she came back in and instead of messing with the vitals i aimed straight for the juggular. Found the rage in her shoulder when we were cleaning her. Why did you say that was the last animal you shot with a rage? do you not like them?

@FreeIndividua i have a question. what if animals are over-populated and they are starving. wouldn't it be more humane to kill them painlessly like in this video. and btw, it was killed painlessly, studies have shown that when an animal is shot with a bow in the vitals it does not feel anything until it dies due to adrenaline.

@ZephyrsBell I don't know where you live, but it's open season on feral hogs all year round in Florida. The only restriction is on wildlife management areas, where you have to follow the hunting season and regulations, but if you're on your own private property, or have permission of the land owner, you can pop 'em any day of the year, since they're considered transient livestock. The state doesn't want them to repopulate, cuz they're a destructive nuisance.
