  • I've been falling asleep to Isis for the past month. Especially Oceanic, Wavering Radiant, and Panopticon. I find myself dissatisfied with pretty most other music.

  • Isis rules my universe

  • I just found out that the second vocalist during the motherfucker of an ending is Caleb from Cave In. Awesome.

  • The lyrics towards the end are actually:

    "And so the truth,

    That burned so bright,

    Now is rendered,

    1,000 shards."

It says so on the official Isis website.

  • Most awesome band of Roskilde Festival @ 09'

  • If it is a song then what are others? If others are song then what is this?

  • Who else loves the SHIT outta that first note?

  • I Love the Music of ISIS it's so emotional..I'm sad that they broke up but i'm glad that they broke before release something really bad...

  • Whenever I'm walking about the city or just chilling at home and this song kicks on, I get syphoned into a most beautiful demension. It's kinda' pothead-esq thing to say, but it's the only way I can come close to truly being able to convey how amazing their songs are. ISIS, R.I.P.

  • @Heartburn991 R.I.P.? are they dead?!

  • 1000 shards

    10 000 days

1 world full of misguides people

  • theyre alright sort of

  • these guys are from boston i think..not l.a.

  • One of the best ISIS songs, a masterpiece imo.

We want ISIS back. Thumbs up!

  • I'm still new to this band, absolutely love their style/sound, but I read last night that they decided to break up the band last year :( at least the music was recorded first, but does anyone why they ended it?

  • @lamerical They disbanded mostly cause their latest releases didn't fully satisfy them and they believed that this was the end of the band. Something I don't agree with, I love all of their albums, but their decision is well respected.

I suggest you listen to Cult of Luna, Intronaut and Agalloch. Especially Cult of Luna, they have a very similar sound to ISIS

  • @RisingDevilOfChaos thanks, i'll check those bands out

  • @RisingDevilOfChaos .I dont think they werent necessarily unsatisfied with their releases but in the statement Turner wrote when they did disband said they didnt wanna go past a diginifed death i.e. Korn or AC/DC who keep putting out albums even though they havent been really good in a long time..I believe they hit their artistic peaks and wanted to go out on top of that peak. I also heard the rhythm section and the keyboard /guitar player are making music together ..sounds interesting!!

  • The guitar melody at 1:32 makes me weep :-(

  • What are you talking about

  • Not trolling, but I am not a fan of this song. Panopticon is the better album in my *personal* opinion.

  • Man, this owns so frigging hard...

  • 80 likes 0 dislikes, nuff said

  • i'm already missing Isis..

  • listen to the cover from borralbi. it does catch the magic of the song!

  • I worked at the middle east in Cambridge ,saw Isis many times and they always blew me away. The only other show that compared was neurosis /eyehategod ,great show for small club .great memories .Too bad they don't book the great bands that they used to .It was a great time while it lasted. Isis are in a class of their own.

  • wtf

  • sorry but Isis are from Boston....well thats not important....the important is that is an amazing band.........

  • this song is amazing and intricate i love it

  • @vrem Offtopic, byebye troll

  • @Rovelius its not off topic. hes talking about his opinion on isis and i frankly agree that the beatles are far more musically important than isis. you dont ever hear a rock star say they were heavily influenced by isis do you?

  • @vrem the beatles are good, but they will never compare to duke ellington.

  • @vrem What a shitty comment.... They are totally different approaches to music - Isis develops a theme over ten minute tracks and over entire albums as a whole - the Beatles go straight for the jugular with well-written, catchy songs in conventional structures... It's like rating a basketball player against a sponge-diver in terms of relevance or importance. And I love both of them anyway so who gives a shit....

  • @vrem and you think corporate sellouts like the beatles are good? you have to be completely engulfed in delusion to think the beatles did anything to rock besides make it accessible to easy-listening pop lovers. stevie ray vaughan, jimi hendrix, and eric clapton were much better musicians from that era.

  • @iwatch2muchfriends

    Pink floyd. nuff said.

  • godly.

  • @111Evildead

Ok why even bother telling us your crappy little opinion when this is a song from Isis? Stupid troll is stupid... blocked.

  • @111Evildead Dude this is isis and tool suck? yeah right they are one of the best musical geniuses today.

  • @111Evildead so? i dissagree but why say that on an isis video?

  • @111Evildead true, but completely irrelevant

  • @111Evildead I laughed so hard. Thanks for that :D

  • wow, just discovered these guys after being introduced to Wrists of Kings. phenomenal. I think they're becoming my new drug

  • @drawman3354 Another good band similar to this is Red Sparows.

  • Into the truth

    let myself burn

    now it is written

    1000 shards

    splendid...

  • They almost sound like tool

  • ...and oceans below me

  • These guys remind me of Tool defntly!!

  • what the fuck are you talking about

  • lol you have never heard of the band.( tool ) ???

  • I'm sure they were heavily influenced by them.

  • Such amazing drumming.

  • right before i started typing this, i was trying to learn the guitar to this song... and i gave up. it hurts me to give up so easily but now giving the music to this song a good look, an idiot could tell that isis blends all of their instruments so well together, it makes a beautiful mixture of ambiance and, dare i say it, blasphemy. amazingly brilliant minded band. i praise them so so very much.

  • I agree. It's way to hard to learn most of Isis's guitar pars just because they all blend and have effects that just distort them. Plus just getting your guitar tuned without intonation problems to their tuning.

  • seeing them live on saturday... i can't effin wait for it :D

  • fucking brilliant as usual. 1.33 onwards makes me cream my pants

  • 1000 Shards? These guys meth heads? lol

  • @Flyfar420

    Good one, haha.

  • @Flyfar420 Please go away

  • What a great song!! ...in my opinion the best of the album.

PS. If you browsed for this freaking song, just listen to it dammit

  • No what?

  • Oh I see, sorry for the misunderstanding... Youtube got the uncanny ability of not placing comments in the right order. =/

  • Care to elaborate?

  • I have a diverse taste in music :)

  • Trashwolfe wins.

It's not without a good reason that I wrote "if you don't have a lot of experience listening to complex stuff (metal, jazz...), the fact you didn't notice the rather huge number of melodies in 1000 Shards proved that you weren't ready yet.

And as far as my opinion goes... nu metal is a stinking pile of shit. I have diverse taste in music too, but I always strive to get the best out of a genre. Nu metal isn't metal. I would recommend Kalmah and Strapping Young Lad.

  • Trashwolfe's my friend dude. -_- She was the one who showed me this song actually. I listed to it for a few minutes and it didn't do anything for me. Honestly I have no idea what numetal is, I'm not an expert in music, but I know what I like. This might be good music for chilling or getting high, but it's not for me.

  • Oh, well she's right, assuming she knows what nu metal is all bout.

It's all right. Not saying you should like it. Just that you don't have the... "musical ear(?)" for it yet. You will most likely like it someday if you listen to the bands I listed above.

Nu metal mixes metal with rap, trash, groove and industrial. Most metalheads like me don't consider this metal because of the huge lack of brutality on drum/guitar and it takes almost no talent whatsoever to produce. I'm thinking Slipknot.

  • @Rovelius Isis is heavy ISIS is really heavy heavy music dosent mean you have to scream or have extreme drumming or guitar work heavy music is heavy emotional heavy with the sound they make. And ISIS and Neurosis are one or the most heavy bands i have ever listende too Isis can give you way more than any slipknot song can.

  • @EnigmaHood This music is for all, this music is no way for getting hight its for listening and enjoyng in the melodyes and sounds that ISIS gives you from theyr soul.Isis is one of the best bands of all time and you cant prove me wrong.

  • I'm not digging this music at all. It's awful really. Too slow, no melody.

  • Well that's what progressive is all about... it's definitely not for everyone. It's a much more complex music than regular rock or metal - some bands actually mix it up with jazz, like Ephel Duath. Not saying prog doesn't have its share of brutality, though. Look up some Edge of Sanity or Augury for proof.

It's a genre with a LOT of variety and experimentation, so if you don't have a lot of experience listening to complex stuff (metal, jazz...) I'd suggest waiting a bit.

  • @EnigmaHood TOOOOO SLOW are you fucking kidding me since when is slow bad nature works slow it takes its cource slow everithing is this fucking world runs slow so for you to say that its to slow you sayng im an idiot. No melody WTF you idiot how do u define melody isis in this has over 14 melodies and if you cant see that your a moron and an idiot.

  • @blackmanorigins I don't like it. Why don't you just deal with it instead of getting your panties in a twist every time someone disagrees with your opinion.

  • @EnigmaHood Problem is you the only fucking person in the world who has EVER wroten a bad thing on the isis video of any kind.Keep you bad opinion to yourself and go and listen to stupid uncreative music!

  • @blackmanorigins No I'm not. Don't hyperbole, and show a little maturity.

  • @EnigmaHood Yes you are my friend the only the only...You need to lean im only 15 and im glad im not listening to shity music. You sluld start listening to band like ISIS,TOOL,A PERFECT CIRCLE,you see you need to experiment with music not just hate it after one listen i didnt like isis at the beginig they were as you say to boring but now im in love with then they are creative and beautiful in every way and if you canot see that you have a bad taste...

  • @blackmanorigins I'm not a huge music fan in the first place. I'm one of those guys that just knows what he likes, and that's it. Why don't we just agree to disagree and drop this.

  • @EnigmaHood Fine but not liking music is like sayng im an idiot

  • @blackmanorigins No it's not. Some people don't like it, that's their preference. In any case, I didn't even say I don't like music. I said I'm not a huge music fan, but I still like music. I'm just not obsessed over it, nor very knowledgeable on the subject. I just know what I like, that's it.

  • @blackmanorigins Who cares about age?! Music is Ageless my friend (Cept for those who identify music by the 60s, 70s, or 80s lol but for the most part it's ageless)... You either like it or you don't

  • @bladra I know that i knew that.you do not need to tell me that

  • This album always sounded like it was recorded in an egyptian pyramid.

  • one of the best songs by this band!

  • ISIS one of the best!

  • i found isis because of searching bands wich sound like neurosis because i like them and i also adore these fine people making true music!

  • the only thing isis should be compared to is neurosis. which is where alot of influence came from

  • I can certainly hear some Tool influence here, and in other Isis songs.

*That's coming from someone who has only just found Isis, and has never heard Neurosis*

  • Wouldn't call it "Tool influence" just because they use some delay on their bass or use Polyrhythms.

  • Even though Tool is a noted influence of Isis'...

  • Read Isis' wiki page. Not only do they cite tool as an influence, they have toured with them.

On first listen, the drumming in particular is reminiscent of tool, as are some of the harmonic and structural elements.

I haven't analysed either of the bands' music in any kind of depth, so don't ask me to back up my claims with refined evidence. I'm merely expressing comparisons noted by my ears.

  • That's what music should do: take you to another world. I say, if music couldn't give a blind man a place to explore, it's not as good as it could be. Let music be an imaginative experience :-)

  • Wow.....thank u..........fuckin' finally someone has something worth reading to talk about.

  • agreed... one worthy comment in the cesspool that are the youtube comments pages. i might actually use that quote here and there, hope you don't mind ;)

  • Music is not one thing it is what it is to every individual so if that emties or fills your mind that is what music is. And what it should be.

  • 1:33 love this riff so much

  • Yep, it's incredible.

  • yup, absolutely beautiful ... and it sounds very persian !

  • @analfrost Yup me too...

  • listening to this song is an incomparably awesome experience. this is what makes me so addicted to it.

  • Whole album is great.

I had ticket for Tool with Isis support, but Isis didn't arrive...

If you like this then hunt for Fishtank 14 album with Aerogramme. Great trip around another dimension. Highly recommended ;)

  • Isis's music takes me to a whole other world.

  • I remember a couple years back when Isis opened up for tool in my area. They were just as great as I expected them to be and then some. Something went wrong with Tool's sound in the speakers later in the evening. It sounded like a tinging sound. None the less I had a great time! I love both bands!

  • The drummer plays just like Dany Carey from Tool...awesome track though!

  • Totally. Listen to Hive Destruction on the mosquito control EP, its a completely different sound to this song.

  • I dont think they sound like tool, this album was kind of an offshoot for the band. Listen to their previous albums and youll see they're nothing like tool.

  • Isis is indeed compared to a lot of other bands. In my opinion, the one band which they sound the most like is Red Sparowes.

  • Meh, i dissagree. Red Sparrowes are great, but the lack of vocals makes them pretty different from Isis. Strictly instrumentally speaking i do agree that they share a lot of things, but then again, Red Sparrowes is a side project for one of Isis's members.

  • I love the underwater sound of the vocals and guitars during parts of this song. I'd love to get this album, but have a hard time finding it in my area.

    ISIS Rule.

  • One of the best songs they have done in my opinion. Fantastic band, one of my favorites
