  • My grandmother was in soundies films. I can possibly give some info. Did you uncle have any rare black soundes films?

  • @MusicandDancing4Ever there may be some in the collection, though as of yet I have only run into this one. Sadly, not all of the films were preserved in playable condition. At present I am attempting to acquire the software necessary to restore damaged footage, but all I have come across is financially beyond my means. Will let you know if I run into any, thanks.

  • This outstanding soundie features the Deep River Boys from 1941. The dancers out in the street are Whitey's Lindy Hoppers. I believe I spotted Mabel Lee and possibly Lena Horne in there too.

To folks like me that were born in the early 1950's soundies like this help fill the void of knowing what was "going down" in the years just prior to our creation. I wish I could have been a part of it when it was happeneing but thankfully these soundies preserve the historical moments.

  • @raynefallz1 I know most of all the dancers in this and other soundies. Most of the dancing girls were from around clubs around Harlem. Lena Horne isn't in this soundie. In fact, she wasn't in any sounde dancing. Mabel Lee is in this though.
