Why did Archie just left his wife behind, no communications after that, or did he survive the climb in the mountains of Nepal ? why did they left the viewrs hanging on a balance. what really happen to him?
And so ended MOTG. The rest was a waste of time. Bad story lines. Pointless characters. A truly great series with nowhere to go. I miss it. But then we had a good few series to get used to the fact that it had died after Archie left...
It was just terrible when ARchie left the series. I read that in real life Alistair MacKenzie (Archie) had a 3 year old daughter and wife. He had to commute to see them and said that being away 7 months of the year was too much. that is noble yet the series just wasn't the same without him.
That wasn't the reason he left, he left because he wanted to pursue a film career and felt he;d done all he could with Archie. His film career however failed to take off do in hindsight it was a mistake leaving.
Oh how I miss this show. It was one of those rare series you'd want to stay up for on Sunday nights. The music, the stories, the acting, everything was spot on. So dissapointed when Archie left. 1:28 makes me wanna cry...
Because he has a brother, Paul, and they can't work together. Archie thinks he was never ment to be the laird, because of his brother who died (Jamie).
He reluctantly takes the title of the Estate (with alot of hilarious moments) and then triumphs to win Lexie's heart but leaves like that?! I still don't get it. Paul couldn't revive it after Archie left, the storylines were too predictable. But the actor who played Archie did say it was his time to move on professionally, sigh.
I watched the show from the start in 2000 on TV until the end in 2005 then kinda forbot about it until this year when I bought the complete box set and I still find it hard to watch any episodes after this one as its simply not the same once Archie leaves Lexie seems lost without him which I cant stand as she's my fave character.

I so agree with you. It was never the same. Poor Lexie :( I was feeling so sorry for her. The serie was not so good after Archie left.
She's my favorite character to :) Much more than Archie. He left her, without discuss it.

A famous quote form George Lansdowne~
'To die and part is a less evil; but to part and live, there, there is the torment.'
