I understood the joke but I take Spanish. Although I suppose it's essentially the same concept. But yeah, shame about the ignorant people who don't get this joke though.
So like my Latin lessons, although my teacher never actually pulled a sword on me. I don't suppose today's kids get the joke, from comments on YouTube it seems most of them barely speak English let alone know Latin. And of course teachers today aren't allowed to twist a boy's ear, more's the pity.
I reckon one does not have to speak English in order to speak Latin. I speak Romanian, French and English and I am taking Latin lessons from my girlfriend...and yes! I find it fascinating but I also reckon it would be difficult for one to learn Latin from English due to the simplicity of the English grammatical structure. The Latin ablative and French subjunctive lack in Romanian otherwise its the same basic structure for all three.
No Klauzes my point was that UK kids speak English badly. The joke here comes from a time when Latin was actually taught in many UK schools, today's UK kids cant speak english very well and they will never have a Latin lesson, so the joke is lost on them
This sketch illustrates yet again that good comedy requires an element of truth. If you've had Latin lessons at an English public school I'm sure you'll know what I mean. This is based on a great idea. Being made to repeat the graffiti 100 times is so surreal.
I think my high school Spanish teacher subscribed to this philosophy of teaching.

Right (not in the pejorative sense). A bunch of retard, most kids nowadays. But every now and then there will be a kid wholl get it hopefully.
