OK, this guy makes REALLY good shoes (the kind I haven't seen for forty-fifty years at any price). You ain't gonna learn advanced technique from watching a freaking video on YouTube! Take his class, ask for his recommendation of nearby people to apprentice yourself to, or quit whining and learn what you can - namely, how to recognize good old-fashioned craftsmanship when you buy his shoes. I had been wondering why shoes suck nowadays - compare this to "Prada factory" videos & you'll see why.
The thumbnail preview for this looked promising. When I saw it was for making actual shoes and not someone cutting through flesh, I was severely disappointed... but now I know how to make shoes (out of flesh)! Thanks for the video :) 10/10
I want to learn how to make shoes so that I can make reproduction Victorian shoes. Where can I learn? Shoe making is a dying art yet someone obviously knows how to do it, it's a bit unfair to hoard all that knowledge and not offer it to others don't you think?
@BreezesofConey You want to make Victorian shoes or renaissance shoes? I know a fellow in Oregon that has an apprenticeship DVD for sale for $500, that teaches you how to make some seriously cool leather boot/moccasins. PM me if you want the info.
Great Video, Can any one tell me the names of the main tools use to the make the shoe? where can I get this kind of tools? I been browsing ebay but can find them I would like to know the specific names of the tools used in this videos. thanks in advance.
all the tools can be purchased on cordwainertools . com (well not all of them, because some of the tools I use are more than hundred years old - but we are doing our best)
I would love to make shoes, but not many places in my part of the U.S have courses. I hate that everything gets out sourced, then people like me who want to study desing have not way to intern.
I would really love to learn how to make shoes like these. I would pay to learn this any day! Do you teach in the us? If so, please send me information on how I could attend your class, price etc. Thank you.
@TirianB Well, some people wants to learn from it - I believe they enjoy it, like this. On the other hand OI made a shortened version - shoemaking in 7 minutes. You might like that more..
@MarcellHUN I don't think @TirianB means it's slow, what they're saying is it's too fast and you don't have enough time to actually work out what's going on. By 36 seconds you already have a sole made and we have no idea how you did it! What about a list of equipment and then maybe some writing whether in video or in description, or even speech telling us what you're doing and how you're doing it.
@TirianB hey man this isnt atutorial- its just a video on how they make it. Thank god for the editing because maybe i dont want to see the 8 hour step by step process. Go buy a book on making shoes if you want more details
@MarcellHUN how much for the materials for the heels and soils. I got a book on how to make shoes and I really want to make some shoes but I went to a shoe supply store and they told me the materials are so expensive because they usually don't have people wanting to make store but only get their shoes fix.
you really see how major companies have destroyed this profession.. watching this guy you can tell its a skilled trade.. unfortunately its not practiced at a large extent
@MarcellHUN stop talking bs and change the tittle of your video to " how shoes are made" because your video is not a tutorial!!!!!!! " How to make a shoe - Part 1." sounds objectively, directly like a tutorial, and you end up misleading people because YOU'RE NOT TEACHING ANYONE ANYTHING! why is it so hard to understand it, you serene highness? Use merit in order to get atention! No reply necessary!!!!!
@meucuzinho Sir. 1: You and no other nameless internet troll will not tell me what should I do, reply or not. 2: I didn't ask your opinion, especially if you can't express yourself like a cultured human being - politely. 3: I teach hundred people every year personally and inform thousand more every year with videos like these. 4: Internet means you are free to choose what you look what you don't - if you don't like these videos, it is so easy: just don't watch them.
@meucuzinho Just because you lack the mental ability to learn doesnt mean the rest of us cant. Learning to make shoes requires time and dedication. Only an idiot would get pissed because they cant learn a craft in 7 minutes online! Go crawl away now.
@meucuzinho Thank you Sir, for your valuable and really constructive opinion. Maybe you should have some time to watch the other videos, which shows the whole process very detailed. BTW this is really not the whole process - you are right, that's why it is called PART 1.
@meucuzinho More often than not, I find those who post inane and ridiculous posts and who insults a true master at his chosen craft, is the real moron and imbecile.
Anyone who has a little bit of intelligence will be able to benefit from this video, tutorial or not. It is pretty obvious you do not have the required intellect. So please, go watch some porn or something. Nobody forced you to watch this.

It seems calfskin is the general consensus, but what do you use?
Same question for the leather lining.
