I had misgivings about watching the film, knowing Clint Eastwood was one of the leads. A friend was insistent, so I gave it a try, and I am grateful . Merle walks off with the film. The scene at the intersection is an emotional wallop - the dilemma of whether one should risk all for a chance at uncertain fulfillment , or live on forever wondering what might have been. Very honest portrayal, and the film is even better than Brief Encounter. Thanks for posting!
