First saw this rig (and met Randy Grubb) at the Portland Rod & custom show several years ago; it was the first time it was shown & it made a hell of an impression on me. At the time it was rockin' a 2 speed automatic out of a bus & Randy said he built it with the aim of selling it to Leno. Just a brilliant piece.

engineering masterpiece ? Far from it.. he didnt have to design the transmission, the differential, the gearing, the engine. Its all from exsisting models. The problem comes when you try to put number plates on it. As the frame hasnt been crash tested and isnt from an exisisting model. So you cant call it a rebuild. Another thing is california emission laws. The law book is the problem here. Not the construction at all.

Yes it si legal to drive on the road, and yes rheir is a license plate, he had to install rear- and front axels with brakes from a greyhound bus before he could drive it legaly on the road. their has been a whole episode on Discovery Channel about the car...
