Sorry to ruin your fantasy folks, but in real life, things never look pretty. If they tried the 'fajin' that they masters do in demos, it will not work the same way on a uncooperative opponent. I'm speaking from personal experience doing many years of taichi. Please check my demo videos as proof. I also sparr with friends who do MMA and BJJ, and I can tell you that when your opponent grabs you in a way that you don't expect, you better learn to adapt.
i have been practicing yang for 13 yrs and what I would like to see would be one of these empty force masters go in a competition like this and force an opponent to jump up and down and all over the place like they do with their students.like I say i've been doing tai chi for 13 yrs and what really seems to matter is structure and sesitivity.Maybe one day I will meet someone with true chi projection.until then I remain skeptical
Terrible! The Chen Village apparently does not follow the taiji classics. What is this that they are doing? Greco-Roman wrestling, judo, sambo, sumo, or what?
@MylesAngus Unfornuately, it is not just Chen village. If you check all the national and international push hand competition hold these years, it never looks as pretty as the masters demo. Also, Chen village tends to win more often. I practice Yang more often than Chen, I am stating objective tournament results rather than personal ideal.
@MylesAngus Chen village CREATED pushands!! lol It's not for you to tell them how they should push hands? If you look, you WILL see Taiji theory used. This isn't a sparring match(punch, kick, chinna, throws) it's pushands. In America Chen Taiji isn't well known. We see a lot of the bullshit Yang,Sun,Wu, from bullshit "Masters". Reality is a bitch ain't it? ;)
