@mytuber81 actually Ive known her for a while now, and I can assure you she was born a woman, unless they've found a way to perform a sex change while still in the womb
@tspaige1 You're absolutely right, my mistake. I guess it was her voice, mannerisms and 2:18. I still dont understand her argument; it doesn't correlate to reality.
@mytuber81 well we all experience the world differently, so reality is subjective as you are stating it, just as the experience of reality would be different if you grew up in another culture, say an island culture, they would look at the way we live and say we are out of touch with reality, because our idea of reality is different from their experience of reality.
@tspaige1 Continued.. Those norms are inherent distinctive human traits. She is suggesting that we change reality based on her own perspective/opinion, and also implying that there is a fine line between male and female or that they are even the same which is complete lunacy.
@mytuber81 I disagree with reality being completely subjective, if that were true you could control the outcome of EVERY circumstance and/or experience. Reality is reality, our perspective of our experiences with reality is what is subjective.. Other cultures customs/perspectives dont change reality. Miss Wolf is saying America is out of touch b/c we have "gender norms" and we need to reject them. continue...
@mytuber81 the simple fact that intersexed people exist at all kind of nullifies the notion that gender is a binary. If you were to read "The Kinsey Report" which is like the holy grail of the study of sexology and gender studies you would see that it has long been KNOWN that gender is a continuum rather than a binary, and the way a person experiences their gender IS their reality, it may not be YOUR reality but why should that be such a concern to you. Life is not black and white. Diversity.
@mytuber81 some women are more masculine, some men are more feminine, some people like Caster Semonaya the female olympic runner that when her running times were so low they submitted her to a "Gender Test"and found that she was born with ovaries and undescended testes and a penis inside her that even she had never known she had, she is what is known as intersexed, this does not make any of these people any less valid or genuine as people, just different than say you or I, gender is diverse.
@tspaige1 You are wrong, Caster was NOT born with ovaries OR a womb for that fact. Everything on the tests that were taken indicate he IS a man. Just b/c his male organs are displaced doesn't mean he is "intersexed."
I agree this does not make any of these people less of a person but you can't use this as a claim to support that gender is a continuum.
@mytuber81 ummmm she went through puberty and developed breasts, grew up as a girl, lived her entire life as a girl her entire life experience is that as a girl and everyone elses experience of her is that she is a girl, but it doesnt fit YOUR narrow little boxes of what gender is so she is supposed to start living as a man now because you are upset that she was born with both sets? This is a whole lot more common than you may think, did you take the time to Google the Kinsey Report?
@tspaige1 You are wrong again. I'm not upset in the least, in fact YOU seem to be the one who is upset. This "narrow little boxes" you stated is just a way of saying people should be able to do whatever they want or 'feel'; that's not how the world works. Have 100 people meet Caster face to face as in all his post race interviews and I guarantee you all 100 of them see him as a man. Show me one picture where he has breasts.
@mytuber81 read the Kinsey Report, read something beyond your opinions on this, like a scientific report on gender identity, to say that she should abandon her entire life experience as a woman because it would make you feel more secure in your view of what is man and what is woman is sheer ridiculousness, there are mountains of scientific data that disproves youre Opinion on this matter
@tspaige1 You stated he was "born with ovaries" which was untrue. Now you resort to a feelings-based strawman argument for Caster THINKING he was a girl b/c of his 'experiences' up until recently. This has no foundation for your "gender is a continuum" b/c the FACTS show he IS a man. There is not one thing on or in him that is female. That's REALLITY.
