  • the only reason jurassic park raptors are called velociraptors is because steven knew that deinonychus didnt seem terrifying. velociraptor was more catchy and was a terrifying name to use.

you wanna know how i know all of this? i have the jurassic park adventure pack.

  • thas ma boy GRANT. Preach it to the brothas!!

  • should have paid attention in class

  • It's a shame the actor has passed away. It would have been great if the character managed to escape the attack and he could have reprised that role in a future film.

  • If I remember correct, they are not necessarily Velociraptors. Because at the time Michael Crichton was publishing his first book Velociraptor was a common term of a small Theropod with this famous claw on the middletoe. In this common term "Velociraptor" was also refered to a similiar species, the Deinonychus.

But I think Steven Spielberg kept the size and shape of the Deinonychus because it seemed more terrifying. Velociraptor was half as high as Deinonychus, and had a much more slim skull :)

  • @HumanPietBox I think I've read on the TCG that Spielberg wished the Velociraptors to be taller and just at that time they had discovered the Utharaptor, kind of the big brother of Velociraptor, so Spielberg felt alright with using this size.

Seen with todays knowledge, the Raptors of JP1+2 realy do look pretty exactly like Deinonychus. (those in JP3 have the real V.Rap skull, though they are still too huge)

  • Not matter what They say, Velociraptor will ALWAYS be what they look like in Jurassic Park in my eyes, not some 3 foot chicken animal

  • funny but if you read the original book, Muldoon is a badass who blows away several raptors and lives.

  • @tachikoma747

They swapped him with Henry Wu. Just like the swapped macho Gennaro with wimpy Rex-bait Ed Regis.

  • He's like "huh, maybe i should have paid attention to grant"

  • R.I.P. Bob Peck, you'll always be one of my favourite actors.

  • Brilliant. My only gripe is not leaving the "clever girl" line in.

  • R.I.P. Bob Peck

  • slick video

  • Velociraptor is not 6ft tall....thay are terkey sized.....but can stilll kill you

  • @SharkKid42 The raptors in the film were based off Deinonychus but they wanted a better name, so they chose their smaller versions name, Velociraptor.

  • @Iwatchtrek I know I just wish they would use the right name.

  • @Iwatchtrek Not a better name, just a simpler one. More people know the raptor than the Deinonychus.

  • @SharkKid42 not 6ft tall, but 6ft long.

  • Clever girl.

  • 0 people were outsmarted by clever girls.

  • @xshortguy well that makes sense because that guy's dead so he can't dislike this video, that or his ghost hasn't found this video yet

  • Because velociraptors are pack hunters, you see, , he uses coordinated attack patterns and he is out in force today. And he slashes at you with this... a six-inch retractable claw, like a razor, on the the middle toe. He doesn't bother to bite your jugular like a lion, say... no no. He slashes at you here... or here... or maybe across the belly, spilling your intestines. The point is... you are alive when they start to eat you. So you know... try to show a little respect.

  • @williamraymusic ohhh dr grand the man who knows evrything..... i if i win a lot of money ill reboot the movie and let him die in the movie......he will runaway from the raptores and screams like a little woman and when they catch him and eat him he will scream louder and louder and he will say : nooooo im dr grand ure not allowed to eat me noooooo * girlish scream* and also hammond will get his payback =D only nedry and muldoon will survive...also those two nerdy kids wont come home 2 BAD =(

  • @williamraymusic Yeah, that's what he said alright....

  • @williamraymusic just what i was going to say!

  • @williamraymusic Velociraptors didn't slash, their claws are actually designed to stab their prey in the neck. Much quicker and deadlier.

And Jurassic Park's "Velociraptors" are far too big to be actual Velociraptors, which were more like the size of a chicken. A Deinonychus would have been better, but yeah, Velociraptor sounds so much more badass.

  • @williamraymusic Impressive and detailed knowledge there man. Did you live during those years?

  • this is awsome. its like national geographic show about raptors eh lol

  • thats PRO!!! PERFECT!!!! nicely done my fried ^_^

  • @Xsuprio Generally, I agree; but I felt Jurassic Park to be quite the movie experience. I do see some staleness with the characters which would match what you're describing, but not nearly as much as you seem to claim nor as much as his other movies. I feel the JP series was an exception, I actually felt TLW had the greatest character development thus far. JP3 was a mess in that department, but I still enjoyed it. The original was just awkward, but still liked the character development myself.

  • @Xsuprio The first JP was a masterpiece. The 2nd was decent. The 3rd was an insult.

  • @SupremeAmerican Ah, the third movie's the black sheep. It wasn't awful, but it was still an ok flick.

  • @SupremeAmerican

Your sorely mistaken. The first one was an insult to the book, though it is one of my favorite movies of all time, the second was was ok then it became dog shite, and the third movie was really cool. All movies had elements from the 1st book.

  • @Electric2000 Oh i loved the books. But the books did not have shitty actors or salmon eating dinosaurs killing tyranosaurs, or shitty plots. It failed. Spielberg sold out on jp3.

  • @SupremeAmerican It seems this debate on Spinosaurus out weighing T-rex goes on and on. From what I've read, spinosaurus did in fact outweigh t-rex, by about twice as much. Its plausable that it could kill t-rex, and we don't know what either one of them ate.

  • @Electric2000 What we do know, is that the average tooth size of spinosaurus was under 2 inches, and there is strong evidence due to snout, hand, and sail structure, that it ate fish. - We know that the average size of the tyranosaur's tooth was 6-9 inches in length. It was designed to eat other dinosaurs. It was most likely endothermic AND warm blooded, due to large vessel cavities in skeletal structure, so capable of very quick movement.

  • @SupremeAmerican Here is the size structure of the Spinosaurus. It obviously does not have a fatter head but it is bigger. Don't think that spine is light either, the bones would have been really thick. We won't ever know if spinosaurs only ate fish. We will never know if t-rex was warm blooded.

  • @Electric2000 In practical terms, it would be like comparing a flamingo with a hawk. Flamingo being spinosaurus with small teeth eating fish. Hawk being tyranosaur eating whatever it pleases.

  • @SupremeAmerican I can't believe a fourth is actually going to be made. Considering the increasing decrepitude the series seemed to be making, it certainly won't be any good, but every JP fan will still go see it, myself included. I have not had the chance to even see one in theaters yet :[

  • @andeaver1937 are they really making a jp4? Wow...........

  • @andeaver1937 The difference is the 3rd wasn't made by Spielberg. But I still have doubt in this new one, even he is directing it.

  • @SupremeAmerican The first was a masterpiece, the second was an annoying "we gotta leave nature alone" movie, the third was a fun monster movie.

  • @SupremeAmerican

Backwards. TLW was the worst of the movies.

    1. "I knew it, I'm surrounded by assholes!"....None of the characters were remotely likable.

    2. It's supposed to be set on a tropical island...yet the filmed it in Redwood Creek California?

    3. The entire San Diego sequence was bullshit, from the "it was the original Jurassic Park, but Hammond abandoned it", to seeing Rexy chase down a bunch of Japanese guys Godzilla-style. Total. F'n. Bullshit.

  • @SupremeAmerican The third one used unused things from the first book, like the pterasaur cage and the river.

  • @SupremeAmerican SO BY YOUR LOGIC, THE 4TH ONE WILL BE AN ABORTION?

  • Comment removed

  • Wow, that's a bravo put there right there man, nice work!

  • Fits together rather nicely. Nice going chief!
