Playing with your hands around cats is what makes them stupid ass cats. Tehy start thinking of your hand as a play toy. When guests come over the cat will attack their hands out of no where. This is why I hate all cats for the most part. Owners are just too rough with them like they are dogs. Bring on the -1s

I've had cats all my life and usually get them as kittens (some born in my hands). Never had one which attacked a hand of a visitor or attacked my hand out of the blue. In fact, our little boy kitten doesn't even use claws when he plays - he uses the pads of his feet to spank at toys and/or our hands if we're playing with him. Cats are smart enough to know when it's play time/attack time. Sounds like you've just had bad luck with some cats who have had bad owners.
